“Lytton has been forgotten”: BC town battles to rebuild 2 years after wildfire disaster

- In 2021, the small town of Lytton, B.C. was wiped out by one of the worst wildfire disasters in Canadian history.
Two years later, not a single structure has been rebuilt and the few residents still living in Lytton are struggling to find closure.
Neetu Garcha returns to the village to speak with community members about their frustrations and provides an update on the investigation into what caused the tragedy.

Seeing that not only did the fire damage or destroy the majority of buildings in this beautiful town, but it has not even begun to rebuild saddens and infuriates me. I was named after this town so it always holds a special place in my heart.

Why didn't they water the ground and the rooftops before the fire? There's an enormous river just below the town.
It was obviously the train, everybody saw the video and we know the wind was blowing those sparks directly into the tinder dry grass as the train turned that first corner after crossing the bridge.
They set fires on the tracks...."protesting"......

There does indeed need to be more accountability. Lytton might get its funding to rebuild if and when the mayor and the band council come clean about who started that fire. Hint: it wasn't a train.
Hopefully they rebuild thinking in a community thats affordable for residents and with good urbanism in mind. The current rules are outdated no wonder its taking forever to rebuild.
Everything will be more expensive and unaffordable once the town is rebuilt.

Nothing is being rebuilt, the money promised was a lie. The town is done. I just drove through there, it’s gone.
Why would the mayor issue building permits? Is the mayor from Lytton?
Yes, she lives in town, in the video she pointed to an empty lot where her home used to be.

Trees and bushes survived no problem but the buildings are totally gone. Makes you wonder what was the ignition source. Satellites perhaps? Directed energy weapons perhaps?

Things are very seldomly as they seem. You take things at face value.
Others question things and have the intuitive faculties to recognize when something is amiss as well.

When you built in the wilderness you live with the consequences. Everyone wants government to put every piece of their life together again and then whine about taxes.
