Max- I have worked on and around machinery since the mid sixties and have absolutely zero negative experience with the audio in any of the many videos I have watched on this channel. Now I don’t have audiophile skills or needs, and those who whine about sound quality in the work of others you might say puts a burr under my saddle blanket. Or as my dear departed Mother would say “ Pisses me right off”. I understand the want to produce Emmy Award quality on each and every work that you put out, BUT life is far too short to master numerous skills to show people ( for FREE) and have them critique your equipment. I believe that “Bugger Off” is the Brit language version of what is not used around here, but explains my attitude towards this type best😎 You are, and have been doing just exactly what I come here for. 😮 😅 😊. Carry on my good Man!
I agree with you. I've simply abandoned the idea of producing professional quality audio and video although I used to be a pro audio guy prior to retirement. As you say, we pass on knowledge for FREE. It takes a lot of time and effort to make videos. So Max, as usual, crack on mate. Gilles
He's quite correct Max. There's absolutely nothing wrong with your audio at all. But he's wrong about "Bugger off". That's sooo polite these days lol. It's now F off like anywhere else!
I second that. I watch Max's channel for the builds and machining and that's exactly what he gives you. And you don't have to listen to any of this outrageous music that's made these days. He comes on tells you what's going on in the video and within seconds you watching him carrying it out and explaining it along the way. Good job Max.
Greetings from the oldest town in Texas, Nacogdoches. Another interesting video. Excellent work on those “tractor” parts. In Texas you’re allowed to have tractor parts.
Hi Max - audio and video quality were top shelf on this. Excellent production editing too. As for content - I picked up several nuggets here - one key one around light cuts with carbide tools on different steel alloys. Kind of helped a light bulb go off gor me. Cheers as always! 👍👍👍👍🎉
G'day Max. Soon as you started to turn the black stock, we could already see it was definitely not mild steel. Either way you have an excellent finished surface. And yep that chip breaker definitely did a stupendous job. We have to watch the part 2 for progression sake. Great video, nice & clear, & good video quality.
Filming looks good, Max. My thoughts when you started turning. "That's cutting bloody nice for cold rolled, wow what a finish. Better than that sh1t I've got." Then you mentioned later, lol. Parts look great so far. Cheers Tony
Well g'day Max, another twat o'clock start for me, hot coffee, kittens and a fresh Tractor parts video from you 🎉 bob on buddy, thanks for sharing 👍 have a great one mate Edit, video looks bob on mate, hope its easy enough for you to edit
Nice work Max & the editing on this one was absolutely fine. If your comfortable with the W11 Media Editor & getting these results then stick with it as your "tried & proven" solution. HTH, Colin
Hi Max, the 3 jaw runs nice and true and glad you don't show political pictures in the back ground as a person you mentioned. Sometimes you have to cut your losses regarding the Heron lathe.
Max great work on the "Tractor Parts" sir! I do know what a recouporator does ( even if I can't spell it lol). I know you're going for a different tool post as you said you don't like the Multifix style ones, and I don't know if it does make a difference, but when I got my Chinese knock off one for my 12"x19" lathe/mill combination machine, I did a little research. I found out that when locking the tool holder into the tool post, according to the original Multifix instructions you should push the locking spanner or handle Away from you not pull it back, and I noticed you were doing that. Now I'm certainly not trying to teach my grand dad to machine steel, ( anyway I'm a good bit older than you Max lol) I'm just passing on what I found out. That new chuck looks a quality bit of kit. Where does it originals from Max? I hazard a guess at Taiwan or Poland? As it looks too nice to be from China. Those rubber mats do look comfortable to be standing on all day. That's a great Father's Day gift for the old man !
Thanks . I was unaware of the locking direction for the Multifix . I am starting to get used to it , it may have kept it if it were a size smaller ! The chuck is made in China and is not too bad for the price ! The next size up , 300 & 350 mm doubles in price . Cheers 👍
When I saw the square form tread I was thinking some sort of big bore gun carriage elevation adjustment mechanism? Nice you can be involved in the restoration of historic artifacts.
That is sure a pretty three jaw.... I've taken more than a few classes in machining and mechanics. It's interesting that I learn things watching U-tube that I never was able to pick up in a class.
This video turned out great. Glad that you got things sorted for now. You wouldn't happen be in North Queensland? Looks like something that The Australian Armour & Artillery Museum would be restoring!
I have mats with no holes in them. The chips sometime melt into the surface a little but otherwise are much easier to clean up. It is nice to have a mat of any sort though when mr fumble fingers pays a visit. A little too frequently in my shop.
Good one, Max. As for editing, I'm sure you will figure something out. There are a lot of good tutorials on TH-cam for about every editing program that exists.
Would love to see the tractor running, i suppose it would be just a single cylinder. We used to have a single cylinder one here in UK called a Field Marshall, didn't fire anything but flamesfrom the exhaust, but did sound good.
from an answer to a previous question to Max i did a bit of digging there are 2 types of "tractor"- the more likely is a "Matilda" however it could also be a "Universal Carrier" aka "Bren" type both of these were powered by a Ford flat head v8
I think I saw the very nears drift from the 70mm just as you zeroed it so that's likely the discrepancy between them and the micrometer (unless you ran short of welding clamps recently but I suspect not) :-)
A fellow that I follow puts holes in paper at a thousand yards. He uses “freedom seeds “ to perforate his object. It is a very competitive arena, and highly complex game where wind, temperature, humidity, light and other variables are thrown in to create even more chaos.
Hi Max, The audio is a lot better with this suite. You kept breaking up on the other one. I wish I could hand grind my drills to cut on both edges like you did on this one. lol. Not sure why TH-cam is so anal about "tractor" parts, the barrel will probably be filled with concrete anyway. Looking forward to seeing how you solve the taper issues. Best wishes, Mal.
Max i built myself a bull nose live center for my 10 inch southben lathe. When pressing the bearings in my tolerances were a little to tight. Do you know of any ways to loosen the bearings up without just cutting them out and starting over. It spins but has quite a bit of resistance. Hopping i can save it and not destory it.
Another great video Max. Just wondering what has happened to Matty from Mattys work shop I have not seen his videos for a while now, hope everything is okay with Mat.
What size is that Multifix? I have just got a B size (Chinese made) fitted on my DSG but now my problem is I only have 4 standard tool holders (real Swiss made ones) so buying more is the next priority as 4 just isn't enough.
Thanks Max. I have no complaints about the quality of the video. In fact I’m pretty sure there’s a noticeable improvement. And maybe a slight change in your style of editing? For the better I might add. 👍🇳🇱
2 pound Bird Scarers Max. LOL. Photography and Video looks better, my 2 pence worth, it s amazing that you're working in bright illumination for videoing, fairly sure as an apprentice all you had was high level bay lighting, and a 40 Watt rough usage bulb struggling to shine thought crud. Nicely done as always.
The day that the video quality of the clip is more important than the quality of the instructional content or the knowledge of the instructor is probably the day that you should turn off the lights in the workshop, close the door, and buy a 3D printer to produce parts. Not saying that won't happen one day but it will probably be long after they finally plant you and me six feet under.
Wow didnt realise you have skin in utube. Must be a good experience machining on a lathe rebuild. So much power in these machines. I would be careful with proper eye protection. Its ok to produce video. But safety wirh such power should always be repected. Varying content especially with lathe operations means delivering new aspects or reasons for taking a particular approach.

Max, I LOVE that you have no long winded intros and music in your videos!!!
I second that. I watch Max's channel for the builds and machining and that's exactly what he gives you. And you don't have to listen to any of this outrageous music that's made these days. Thanks Max. Camera work and audio were excellent from my end.The shop and you are both looking spiffy. Cheers.
No worries 👍

Another good video Max. Lighting & sound are fine & interesting jobs that your doing makes it enjoyable to watch.
Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍🇦🇺
Cheers 👍
Very diplomatic of you Max. I understand the dilemma.
Thanks 👍
I like those mats too; comfy and keeps you from swimming in chips.
They are great on the feet by the end of a day . 👍
good job friend Max
Thanks 👍
Trains, Planes rubber mats & tractor bits.... love it.
The video editing looked great.....as usual
Ya' gotta have the rubber matts ! Cheers 👍

The camera work is good with clear bright picture I think you found the sweet spot
Thanks 👍
great content with intrigue and a bit of drama. Betta than a neflix.
Thanks 👍
Thanks Max! Really enjoy watching the work you do.
No worries 👍
Thanks Max. Great knowledge well shared.
No worries , Cheers 👍
Very nice work flow which I enjoy. The video quality as sound came thru in good order. M.
Thanks 👍
Got to say that the video and sound have been great Max.
No worries 👍
I am sure you will get the lathe sorted. The video looks great Max and Happy Fathers day. Cheers
Thanks 👍
Again very informative. Great Video. Good onya
Thanks 👍
The ER sounds good. I’ve got a bunch of ER-32 tapping collets. One would cost a lot less than that $250 tap.
I will get the spiral & gun point tap one day as it is a common thread here . Cheers .
another interesting video, these Tractor parts are not just boring (pun)
Lol 👍
Thanks for the show Max 🍻
No worries 👍
You are going to put John Deere out of business making all these tractor parts. 😀
Lol , Cheers Tom 👍
Hi Max, the 3 jaw runs nice and true and glad you don't show political pictures in the back ground as a person you mentioned.
Sometimes you have to cut your losses regarding the Heron lathe.
Yes , that chuck runs pretty good for a cheap & cheerful straight out of the box ! No political anything in my shop ! Cheers 👍
Can't please everybody mate, there will always be whingers and whiners. Keep on doing what you do, it's excellent content.
Cheers 👍

Lol . No , across the other side of the country out West ! I do plan to visit that place one day . Cheers 👍
G'day Max, great video as always, and I thought it was another part for a "tractor" in the next mad Max movie 🤣
Lol , you never know ! 👍
Nice tractor parts! Question: any plans to put a DRO system on the JFMT? I think it would make things go faster on the Old Girl. KOKO!
Yes , it is going to get one at some stage . 👍
Thx for the vid., and it looks and sounds quite good.
Thanks 👍
G'Day Max .Id like to have one of those Tractors lol
Lol ! . I tried to reply to your comment the other week , but it kept disappearing .
The noise is the straight cut gears in the headstock ! 👍
Thanks Max, enjoyed the video 😀
Cheers 👍

Funny how things vanish when you drop them ! I have the same mats at my other job . When i drop bolts , i can find them easily . 👍
Smart move no need poking the beast
That's what i thought ! 👍
Hi max you did well I had to cook the barbecue for the kids 😅😅
Lol , same here !!! 👍
Thank you Max!
No worries 👍

Same long pokey thing as an early Matilda !
Mate you audio is 100% fine
Thanks 👍

Possible 👍
A fellow that I follow puts holes in paper at a thousand yards. He uses “freedom seeds “ to perforate his object. It is a very competitive arena, and highly complex game where wind, temperature, humidity, light and other variables are thrown in to create even more chaos.

You will have to press it apart . Drill a hole in the pointy end to push a small rod through . 👍
👍
Cheers 👍👍👍
Another great video Max. Just wondering what has happened to Matty from Mattys work shop I have not seen his videos for a while now, hope everything is okay with Mat.
As far as i know , he is just taking a break . I think that boring head fried out a few of his brain cells !!! Cheers 👍
What size is that Multifix? I have just got a B size (Chinese made) fitted on my DSG but now my problem is I only have 4 standard tool holders (real Swiss made ones) so buying more is the next priority as 4 just isn't enough.

...and, another peek down the Nice Shop !!
Cheers 👍
Sounds almost soviet,it is a tractor factory,no that is not a tank!it`s an armoured tractor to protect farmers from wildlife.
Lol , Cheers 👍
2 pound Bird Scarers Max. LOL.

Yes , we only had normal household light globes in the machines back then ! Cheers 👍
You can do basic video editing with VLC Media Player.
Ok , thanks 👍

So is the Nug a 2lb'r or a 907.184....G'r as all the machining dimensions seemed to be metric?🤣
They are inch . Using Metric because the JFMT is a full Metric lathe . Cheers 👍
ERG (Square) collets and floating Tap Holders with a range of tapers on AliX is worth a search as they are common. Not sure about local Oz options?
I was looking at some the other day . 👍
