Why Thiruvallur's work was the ONLY work in Kural format in Tamil literature.??? It was and is not considered a poem but a moral work ARA NOOL in Tamil. Now you publish a moral book and try to sell it and see the result. All other poets during Thiruvalluvar's time have written POEMS, which we have with us till date in another format, which were submitted in King's Court in the presence of other poets for approval and monetary prize by the King. Now we have famous magazines with Editors to publish such things, but no moral stories. To be considered as a poem in Thiruvalluvar time(you ask your Tamil teacher he will also confirm) you should bring into the POEM some format. The SCENES of the country, the scenes of the village(story location as in the present cinema), good natural scenes(foreign location) Thalaivan(the Hero), Thalaivi(Heroine), Thalaiviyin Thozhi(friend of Heroine), Thalavanin Thozhan(friend of Hero), love scenes(koodal Love songs), fights between the pair(Uudal Sorrow songs), break(Thalaivanin Pirivu) due to villan or parents, etc., etc., like present mass-cinima format. SOMEHOW, Thiruvalluvar has got fame NOW in our time, though nobody follows what he said (Eg. Kal Unnaamai Adhikaaram = No Toddy No Arrack, but now we have TASMAC). But the poem formats live through our present-day life by successful FILMS with good box office collection.

NAGASAMY COMPARED TIRUKURAL WITH DHARMASASTRA.. ACCORDING TO dharma shastra if ever a brahmana is living a life of luxury and enjoying sense pleasures alone, without doing his dharma he is wasting his life and deserves to be branded and paraded on a donkey!!. The dharma shastra enjoins poverty (Daridra sthiti) for brahmanas. The Aruna prashna which is the first prashna of the Taittriya Aranyaka, states that they should be "Asanchayavan" meaning they cannot think of the morrow. They have to live by doing the 6 karmas enjoined upon them which are
1. Adhyayanam(learning) of the 14 vidya stanas(4 Vedas+ 6 Angas+ 4 Upa angas. This itself would drive away most of the brahmin people today)
2. Adhyapanam(teaching)
3. Dhanam(charity)
4. Pratigraham(Acceptance of dakshinas at ceremonies)
5. Yajnam(performance of sacrifices).
6. Yaajanam(Officiate in others rituals)
A householder brahmana can earn money but if his wealth reaches a level that he can sustain his family for 3 years he is asked to perform the more elaborate shrauta yajnas that are highly expensive and at the end of which his resources are bound to be sucked of, without leaving a penny.

#10. In order to preserve his energy and intellect, abrahman must not look at women while she applies collyrium to her eyes, one who is massaging her nude body or one who is delivering a child.
#11. One should not accept meals from a woman who has extra marital relations; nor from a family exclusively dominated/managed by women or a family who has witnessed recent death.
#12. A female child, young woman or old woman is not supposed to work independently even at her place of residence.
#13. Girls are supposed to be in the custody of their father when they are children, women under the custody of their husband when married, and under the custody of her son as widows. In no circumstances is she allowed to assert herself independently.
#14. Men may be lacking virtue, be sexual perverts, immoral and devoid of any good qualities, and yet women must not cease to worship or serve their husbands.
#15. Women have no divine right to perform any religious ritual, make vows or observe a fast. Her only duty is to obey and please her husband, if she wants to be exalted in heaven.
#16. After the death of her husband, let her emaciate her body by living only on pure flowers, roots of vegetables and fruits. She should not mention the name of any other men after her husband has died.
#17. Any woman violating duty and code of conduct towards her husband, is disgraced and would become a patient of leprosy. After death, she would enter the womb of a jackal.
#18. In case a lady enjoys sex with a man from a higher caste, the act is not punishable. However, if she enjoys sex with lower caste men, she is to be punished and kept in isolation.
#19. In case a man from a lower caste enjoys sex with a woman from a higher caste; the person in question is to be given the death sentence. And if a person satisfies his carnal desire with women of his own caste, he should be asked to pay compensation to the woman’s faith.

#23. Consuming liquor, association with wicked persons, separation from her husband and sleeping for unreasonable hours - are demerits of women. Such women are not loyal and have extra marital relations with men because of their passion for men, immutable temper and heartlessness.
#24. While performingnamkarm and jatkarm(rituals), Vedic mantrasare not to be recited by women, because they lack in strength and knowledge of Vedictexts. Women are impure and represent falsehood.
#25. On failure to produce an offspring, she may obtain offspring by cohabitation with her brother-in-law or with some other relative on her in-law’s side.
#26. He who is appointed to live with a widow shall approach her at night, be anointed with clarified butter and silently beget one son, but by no means a second one.
#27. In accordance with established law, the sister-in-law must be clad in white garments; and with pure intent her brother-in-law will cohabit with her until she conceives.
#28. Any woman who disobeys orders even of her lethargic, alcoholic or diseased husband shall be deserted for three months and be deprived of her ornaments.
#29. A barren wife may be superseded in the 8th year; she whose children die may be superseded in the 10th year and she who bears only daughters may be superseded in the 11th year; but she who is quarrelsome may be superseded without delay.
#30. In case of a problem in performing religious rites, males between the age of 24 and 30 should marry a female between the age of 8 and 12.
#31. In case a brahmanman marries a shudrawoman, their son will be called ‘parshav’ or ‘shudra’ because his social existence is that of a dead body.
#32. Brahman men can marry brahman, kshatriya, vaishnava and even shudra women butshudra men can marry only shudra women. However, in no situation should men from the other castes marry a shudra woman. If they do so, they would be responsible for the degradation of their family.
#33. The offerings made by such a person at the time of established rituals are neither accepted by God nor by the departed soul; guests would also refuse to have meals with him and he is bound to go to hell after death.

He is not a Historian but an arachaeology and he is driven by a wish and not by hiostorical facts, First Thirukural was written some 2120 years back whereas Dharmasastra was compiled some 1920 years back. Its stupid idea to argue that Thirukural composed some 2120 years ago from a 1920 years old text. Nagasamy lacks the basic understanding of History. So Dharmastra may be a translation of Thirukural into Sanskrit by Jain and Buddhist monks who lived in Tamil Country and not the other way around as you guys falsified. Second, Valluvar being a sutra he was never allowed to learn, read or write Sanskrit that being the case how he could have translated from Sanskrit.... Thirukural was authored in 1st BC (2120 years old). Tiruvallur is thought to have lived sometime between the 3rd century BC and the 1st century BC. During 3rd century BC Ashoka edicts were in Greek, Pali and not in sanskrit. That sanskrit was not a language during Thiruvalluvar time!The Tamil poet Mamulanar of the Sangam period mentioned that Thiruvalluvar was the greatest Tamil scholar and Mamulanar also mentioned the Nanda Dynasty of northern which ruled until the 4th century BC. This estimate is based on linguistic analysis of his writings.

Nagasamy says Manudharma is civilised and knowledgeable. Kancheepuram, Dec 6 (PTI) Tamil writer Anuradha Ramanan, who recently accused Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi of "sexual misconduct," today said she would have met with the same fate as that of Sankarraman if she had made the disclosure 12 years ago when the alleged incident took place.
Speaking to reporters after making an in-camera statement before a court in nearby Uthiramerur this evening, she said she chose to speak out now as the time was "opportune" and more appropriate.
"If I had come out with this (disclosure) 12 years back, I would have gone the way of Sankarraman. I leave it to your imagination," she said when asked why she was coming out with her charges against the seer after so many years
