    These traps are very popular in the northern states for gophers and chipmunks. We stake and wire tether them. Thank you for the review 😊👋🐿

      Oscar, you're more than welcome. I think it would be interesting to try them underwater for lobster and crab. May be illegal though.

    Hi Robb! Good review on the rat trap. I’ve used these down at the shed where I had chicken feed stored and it worked great. I do like the wooden ones because I could take a piece of bacon and wrap fishing line around the bacon to secure it, got them every time.
    Have a blessed evening!

      Hey Willows, good tip about the bacon. I have always wanted to use a rat trap underwater to catch crabs and lobster. Not sure if it would work and is probably against the law somewhere but it still would be fun to try.

      Bacon! The price is so high here that I can't even afford a piece for myself. Glad I do not live close to you as I would be raiding your traps every night for the bacon. I like mine already cooked and crispy though.

      @@islandgal500 you only need the size of a quarter, it would be hard to wrap a whole piece and I would rather get rid of a disgusting rat considering the damage they could cause.

    Those look pretty good, but a couple of real cats are actually the best. Of course, they also insure that my bird feeders are not overused.

      I think my family and myself have only had one or two cats that lived up to the name. The rest of them are useless. We had wanted made up for the rest though I remember her bringing home a rabbit one day. She also liked to bring snakes to my mom.

    That looks good. I see they have adopted this new type of trigger plate with the central hole for the bait tray. That’s different than the last I looked at. It’s an improvement.
    I just bought the old style rat trap for some gag photos. Those things can break a finger! Plus, prying an animal out of one by digging into the goo to lift the bar isn’t pleasant.
    A paper pellet out of your pump air pistol will put down a live rat in the trap instantly without the danger of a metal projectile . A tiny amount of liquid silicone adhesive a sheet of paper towel and some imagination is all you need.

    I've been lucky and only had 2 mice invaders (no rats) in my lifetime. One was from a travel trailer being stored and belonging to someone else close to my house and the second was when one critter got through a small area at the side of my low access door under my house. The first wasn't bad and I put a wooden trap in a large shopping paper bag laying on its side on the floor. When I heard the snap in the evening, I just closed up the bag and could feel by the weight that I had something besides the trap in there. Disposed of it all by rolling the bag closed. Squeamish. It is funny how I can handle dealing with deer or black bear, but not a little scurrying mouse.
    The second unwanted critter about 20 years later got completely trapped inside a small plastic trap with a trigger arm (2 pack, Catchmaster Hide & Seal Mouse trap) and also trapped it inside when the lid closed down. You can throw the whole thing out or get someone to lift and fling the Ewww out of there to rinse and reuse. Glad to say I fixed that access hole and no company since. Both times peanut butter helped lure them. I like the plastic traps, but those wooden ones seem cheap enough that you can throw them out.

      @RobbsHomemadeLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I think most people throw out the wooden ones but growing up we would always reuse them.

    Robb, I saw a guy with a trained mink that hired out to clear rats out of farm buildings. He also has one trained to fish for him. What do you do though, when the place gets infested with minks?

      I can't believe the online research I did on catching one little mouse in my house! People invented the strangest contraptions and the tests on the different baits was extensive.

    Just caught a rat in my kitchen today with one of these. Had traps set for 3 or 4 days after I saw a rat creeping out on the open floor -- it ran back outside as soon as I moved. The attractant that they sell seems to work OK; it's a paste in a squeeze bottle that works neatly to fill the bait cup. I just threw the rat in the garbage, trap and all, so I didn't have to touch the dead rat. I suppose you could wash and re-use the trap if you needed (or wanted) to, but rats are fairly rare around here, so I didn't see the point.
