    Yeah, you are lucky. They won’t even TALK to me at Hayward cause I’m not a service tech. Dentist? Check. Do my own plumbing? Yup. Work in my breaker box? Sure. I took my 400H series apart due to an ignitor failure code. Replaced ignitor, still shows IO. Followed all of the troubleshooting steps and got to “call support” with a phone #. I called and the young lady’s response was “ I can’t troubleshoot with you, you’re a consumer. You have to call a service tech”. Incredible. Where I live nobody will even walk in the door for less than 200, and then they will call and the tech will tell them what to replace. Thanks Hayward

      Please post your phone number to Facebook and a Tech will call. If you are still getting IO after replacing the igniter make sure the ground is good where the igniter is secured. Clean all surfaces. If after that is done you still have the IO the only thing left is a bad main board.

      @@HaywardPoolProducts I didnt see this response from two months ago,, but I fixed the issue myself. I had kept an old circuit board when I replaced it (with a different issue), and I re-installed that "bad" board,.and no more ignitor error.
      So I need to replace the main board prior to next season.

    Can you guys address something with the h400 FDN ASME? I've got mine with 2-in plumbing and on the flovis meter showing 50 gallons per minute flow just after the heater. It's overheating the high limit switch. Or I should say one of the high limit switches. Everything ohms out except the limit switch on the top of the bronze manifold. The one that was in the unit from the factory was labeled 135° F. I jumped it out and it will run indefinitely with no issues thereafter. Otherwise it shuts down prematurely and throws the LO code. Limit open. I bought a new high limit switch but same problem. The switch must be overheating because I'm losing continuity across the switch after the unit runs for a few minutes. Then once it cools off it fires up again for a few more minutes and keep cycling as such. Is it possible that the Hayward high limit on top of the manifold should actually be the 165° F one? Maybe the incorrect one was installed in the factory leading me to then replace with the 135° one as well.? My understanding is the heater only needs 30 GPM so even if the flovis is inaccurate, it would need to be off by almost 50% to be approaching the minimum flow rate for the heater.
    What am I doing wrong? And yes everything is backwashed, the salt cell DIG 220 filter screen was cleaned, and valves are all open without any outside bypass.

    I have a Aqualink RS8.
    Which of those lines connect to the common, spa and pool line on the Hayward heater? I think that the black (2) line connects to the spa line, the yellow to the pool line and the white (not one of the 4 pins) should connect to the common line? Is there a site which discusses the connections?

    I cannot find the spot to hook up the wiring. The wiring in this video looks nothing like my model, H150FDP. The manual also has a pic for wiring that looks nothing like mine. Phone support was clueless, they could not even tell me if electric hookup was on left, right, or front. It's been a week and email support has not replied. I may return my heater if they can't tell me where to hook up the wiring. Horrible support.

    They missed one small important detail. Add some pool lubricant to those gaskets on the inlet and outlet unions. Trust me. Last longer and easier to get on and off. Also will ensure a better seal.

    HI i got a question for whoever knows the correct answer..... I recently came across a new pool heater in Canada and there is no shut off going into the ground after the meter and there is also no shutoff behind the shed where the GASTITE goes in but there is one shutoff connected to the valve train before the gas valve. Does anyone know if you need those extra shutoffs and if so what code is it in the CSA B149.10 code book thanks.

    @Hayward Pool Products - I have a 2 year old H400FDP Heater. My water is clean, propane tanks are full, water is circulating fine - but I am receiving an IF code. I've read that this can be caused by having clogged up orifices from insects/spider webs. How can I clean this out and get this very young unit up and running again? Do I take off the top, front, or back panel in order to access and clean? Can you point me to a video or photos of the area I should clean? I called customer service and chose heaters, but keep getting a busy signal. Thanks

      There is no video on doing this as it is a gas appliance. Cleaning the
      orifices Requires disconnecting the gas lines and removing the
      manifold. Should be done by a gas certified tech. IF means ignition failure. Gas pressure needs to be checked. Tech with manometer needed. Please PM your phone number and a tech will call.

    My daughter has a Hayward heater and is gone a lot being in the military. I wish the manuals were better in giving directions. Not a clue as to where the lines go from the heater to the water lines. I use to know and even took pictures but .. mind is gone and so are the photos. I know one goes from the heater "out" to the return eye but can't figure out where the "in" goes. LOL I know it must be coming from the skimmer basket but then its not going through the filter basket on the motor/pump before going through the sand filter. I know if I stare at it long enough, I might be able to figure it out but it is a real shame it is not included in the owner's or contractor's manual because even the pool store she spent over ten grand at, won't be kind enough to tell her. They will come out to do it, of course for a service fee !!

      On the right hand side of the heater is a label that will tell the serial number and model number. Knowing that will help in determining the answer. Normally for an above ground pool it is skimmer to the front of the pump, out of the top of the pump to the filter valve port marked pump. Now from the filter valve marked return it goes to the inlet of the heater. From the heater outlet to the return on the pool. I am assuming this is an above ground pool. If not send a picture.

    • @kathleenkrtanjek3015
      @kathleenkrtanjek3015 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your quick response. I will go out and find the model number but I'm looking at the manual and it says for the H150FD, H200FD,H250FD up to the H400FD models.I went outside and sat there for a bit knowing I should be able to figure it out and eventually it came to me but I will wait to hook up the heater. The only line I will alter is the one that goes OUT of the filter to the return eye. The hose going to the heater IN will be connected to the connector coming out of the filter ( cleaned water ) and then the OUT on the heater that line goes to the connector port that is the return eye, the clean water would have originally went from the filter to the return wall eye. I think. You do not change any lines from skimmer to the pump because that is not " filtered, clean water " it has to be the line coming FROM the filter. Correct ?? !! And how does the water go to the heater to PRIME it ??

    I have a H250FDN, it starts up and runs for a few minutes, then shuts with a A0 code. If I wait a few minutes, turn to standby, then back to pool, the process repeats, runs for a few minutes, then shuts with a A0 code. Blower, tubing and connections all look good. Could it be a faulty switch ?? If so, why does it run, then fail ??

    • @HaywardPoolProducts
      @HaywardPoolProducts  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible that the switch is still bad. Use the chart below to check.

      AO
      Blower vacuum switch open.
      1. Check for faulty vacuum switch tubing
      Check tubing and replace if necessary. If OK, proceed to step 2.
      2. Check for faulty vacuum switch wiring or connection.
      Inspect vacuum switch wiring. Ensure wire harness terminals are securely fastened to spade terminals on vacuum switch. If OK, proceed to step 3.
      3. Check for faulty blower wiring or connection
      Inspect blower wiring. Ensure plug on blower is securely fastened to control module. If OK, proceed to step 4.
      4. Check for defective vacuum switch
      Disconnect Blower plug from Control Module. Measure resistance across Blower windings. Winding resistance across lead should be in the following range; Red-to- White: 8 to 9 ohms. If measured values vary substantially from these values, Blower is defective. Replace. If OK, proceed to step 5.
      5. Check for defective blower relay.
      Disconnect Blower plug from Control Module. Place heater in Pool or Spa Mode. Lower set point temperature to generate call for heat. During pre-purge period, measure for 120VAC across pins 1 and 2. If 120VAC is not present, control module relay is defective. Replace control module. If OK, proceed to step 6
      6. Vacuum switch is defective
      Replace blower vacuum switch.

    • @maldorasi
      @maldorasi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Number 4 says to Check for defective vacuum switch, but the subsequent instructions say to check the resistance across the blower windings. It read 4.7 ohms across the red and white wires at the plug that I disconnected at the control module. would that indicate a bad blower ?? I can send pix if that would help. Is there a number to call and ask a question ?
