The Duce spoke very good German, he spoke it slow with a strong accent (as Von Schleicher, Dolfuss and Papen recalled), he's first foreign language was French: he spoke french in private meetings with Briand in 1922 and Laval. His English was quite good too. Mussolini had so many skills (among which a photografic memory of books he read and a remarkable ability to sum things up without "Hitler type" monologues) that politicians from around the world admired in the early 30s,every artist and politician who came to Italy wanted an audience with Mussolini. All of these praise are clearly erased from USA and british historiography nowdays because are quite incovenient (Churchill and FDR admired Mussolini among others)

German speaker here: Mussolini's speech is fully understandable. I am amazed he was able to do it.
For historical purposes, here is what he said (translated from German): ""The speeches with which I was welcomed have deeply moved me. One cannot judge my visit by the same measure as fits the usual political and diplomatic visits. The fact that I have come to Germany today does not mean that I will be welcomed (in the same way) elsewhere tomorrow. (*applause*) National Socialists and Fascists want peace and will also be ready to work for peace, for a real and fruitful peace that does not raise questions of how the peoples (of the world) can live together, via stunned silence , but one that actually solves these questions. If the entire world asks itself what the result of this meeting in Berlin will be, either war or peace, then we can answer, both the Fuhrer and I, in a loud voice: PEACE""

Is the date correct? In 1927 the Nazis were not in leadership, Mussolini was still firmly pro Austrian (and thus anti German), and over all Mussolini's view of Hitler ranged from neutral to negative. Hitler had more inspiration from Mussolini in this period than the other way around. This makes more sense if it came from 1937 perhaps.
