i have came back and watched this production so many times. this whole cast is absolutley outstanding, cady gave me chills, one of the best portrayals of her ive seen. janis and damian are incredible, both deserve to go places and absolutley nailed it. the plastics were so good, there voices really blended well and had so much emotion whilst singing. overall, this is one of my favourite productions on youtube, and all seem like future broadway stars. loved it !
I am incredibly impressed by this production. Everyone involved should be very proud of themselves! Pit was on point, just wanted to give them some recognition because they never get it and you guys killed it. Huge shoutout to Damian, who has to be the best Damian on TH-cam. It's really a much harder role than given credit for (mainly by the casting department of these HS productions lmao), but this actor nailed it! (I'm assuming he was a senior since he bowed after Janis - clearly a move by the director - congrats on a great senior performance!) Extremely endearing and funny, with a great voice to match. Amazing chemistry between Cady/Janis/Damian in general - Revenge Party was very fun and their voices blended well. (Glad production kept the purple tuxedos for Janis and Damian!) Cady was incredibly easy to root for her and resonate with. Stupid With Love has the potential to be very hit or miss at this age, and I think Cady's likability and lovely voice made it super enjoyable! The actor really made the character their own. It was not an imitation of prior performances, which is difficult to do when playing a lead role. Gretchen reminds me of Krystina Alabado, and What's Wrong With Me was lovely. I can also see that she took some mannerisms for her performance from the movie, which is how it should be for the nostalgia factor for those audience members unfamiliar with the musical! (Shoutout to Mrs. George who was great in the reprise!) I truly hope Karen's actor is not a senior because she deserves to be the lead next year. Her voice is INSANE, as is her projection. Sexy was absolutely stunning - I had to rewind that riff like five times because I couldn't believe how flawless it was. I'm sure people are going to give Aaron shit for not going up in Someone Gets Hurt, but we need to stop expecting high schoolers to be able to reach the ridiculously high tenor notes that these modern musicals are pushing. His voice is incredibly aesthetically pleasing. I think Janis has a ton of potential as a performer - she also has great projection (I agree about the Sophia Anne Caruso comparison!). The emotion in Someone Gets Hurt (Reprise) felt very real. Regina was definitely saving her A game for World Burn, which was likely a decision by the production team, but I can't blame them for that decision - it's one of the hardest musical numbers and I think you have to do that at this age. The riff on the "off" was excellent, as was the ending note! I could definitely feel the Rachel McAdams energy from her throughout the show, which is a huge compliment in my book. I could really feel that alpha bitch energy from her in Meet the Plastics. You could also really tell the ensemble was having fun and they did a great job with the intricate dances! I worked in community theatre for this age for about seven years, I do not give out compliments this thorough very often, but you guys absolutely nailed it. The directors picked this show KNOWING they had the cast for it (my biggest pet peeve is when high schools pick these intense shows when they have like one person who can kind of sing/act/dance) and that decision paid off. Your community will be talking about this show for years to come! Another huge congratulations to all involved
I did my research (not in a stalker type of way) and found out that the guy who played Damian is actually a Sophomore and the girl who played Janis was a Senior. I’m confused why she bowed before him but they still did absolutely amazing and it was a really good last performance for her! The girl who played Karen was also a Senior and I was absolutely blown away by her performance.
