I was watching a snippet of someone being mad about a race swap, for a character that doesn't have anything in her experience enherently tied to any race. And I just thought about Lee in thus context. I think Lee HAS to be a black man, because his story has elements tied to the black experience, from what I see as a white girl. Black guys and girls, you can comment on it too. The hostility from Lily's dad feels racism coded, even with a different reason given later. It's similar experiencially, from what I have been shown as an outsider. Again, I would love some input from the Insiders of the black experience. I genuinly think Larry wouldn't have been so aggressive with his distaste otherwise, even with his reason.
