I still have one with the iron eagle inlays which are the best looking in my opinion, but I still want one with the s and key.

One correction.... in 2004 and early '05 the Hanneman LTD version had a maple body, Alder started in mid '05/06 (although ESP version always had alder). They did not have a bunch of designs early. There was the dot inlay custom shop until 2004 when a Hanneman was available as a signature series in ESP and LTD version with the S&Key which had the SS sig rune quickly changed to a fat S shape and then cancelled as Jeff hated the redesign. A total of 22 ESP versions were made and approximately twice as many LTD. The key for the S&key is for the 12th ss panzer division aka hitlerjugend...hence a very controversial guitar. Anyway...love the guitar as well and glad you enjoy it. Thanks for sharing!

The key in the logo is significant in that it infers that the youth were the ‘key’ to the future so to speak. It’s also the logo of the 1st SS, commanded by Sepp Dietrich. Dietrich translates to, you guessed it, ‘key’ or ‘skeleton key’. But you likely already knew all that anyway. Lol.

Amazing guitar man. I would love to have a cutom shop ESP done with both, the SS and the Totenkopf in the inlays. Best regards

Jeff once told a story about the keys representing a key that a Nazi soldier slipped a Jewish prisoner to aid their escape from a concentration camp. The SS logo is there to represent the German soldier....

I don't think they were oblivious to what the symbol means, being WW2 history buffs, lol. Might not mean they are nazis, but they've always liked pissing people off for the sake of pissing them off. Even in ways that go against their beliefs (see - Tom Araya being a Christian while their lyrics are... you know).
Not saying it's a good thing either or absolves them of anything. As they used to say on the internets, ironic shitposting is still shitposting - and this applies to more things.

Yeah, I guess part of being Slayer and many other metal bands is to be controversial, because that is what gets you attention. Question is then if you can get a company to back you in that regard, or they will deem it too financially risky.
