Well, it has been more than 25 years since the interview. Mr Friedman, you are correct that you are no longer around. But you are as relevant as ever has been. A great mind and a champion of freedom.

His ideas only increased inequality, undermined democracy, and lead to the oligarchization of western democracies, and they arguably play a huge role in the circumstances surrounding climate change and why we can't seem to do anything against it.
Like, I am pretty certain that Friedman's Neoliberalism will go down in history as one of the most destructive ideologies humanity has ever come up with. Not because it lead to war, but because it led to unsustainable growth ending in a global ecological breakdown.

Interesting that no major nation truly adopted his ideas and that it had been more and more demonized. Either you are prey to such indoctrination or are being sarcastic.

@@JohnSmith-ne1yq He also commented on Part 1 of this video, he's serious. It's frustrating that people can be so brainwashed that they reject common sense truth like this.

@@BangThaBazie What inequality? Compensation inequality has gone down, not up, and he actively fought the oligarchization of nations by encouraging market mechanisms, which are directly responsive to the people. Literally everything you've listed has gotten worse or is a direct result of increased government control since 1960, not a consequence of the freedom we had before then. If it was any different, the problems would have increased at a consistent rate rather than spiking alongside the sharp increases in regulation and HEW programs. So there's no empirical basis for your claims.

friedman brings up an interesting point. the western church has always been critisized by the east for its legalism and centralization and yet it has been the biggest single source of philosophical liberalism (see scholastics, acton, bastiat) and free markets. whereas in the east the ecclesiastical authority is more democratic, but from Byzantium to Russia its cold autocracy.
