    19:36 "Anakin! Anakin!" "Nooooo!"
"What was that?" That was Qui-Gon's voice reaching out from beyond the grave in an attempt to stop Anakin, and Anakin rejecting any thought but violence in the face of his mother's death.

I don't know that it's ever explained officially, but my head-canon for Yoda being able to flip & fly during the lightsaber battles but always using a cane when he's just walking around is that he's drawing on the Force when he's fighting.

    • @christianforsstrom2222

In secondary sources, i.e comic books, computer games etc, there are ablities like force speed and force jump, meaning, use the force to enhance your physical abilites. My take was always that Yoda used such force abilites only when necessary, and otherwise he was humble enough to limp around with a cane, and accept the limits of his old body.

Yoda's species wasn't made for walking on two legs, but more for leaping. Since Yoda was so advanced in his knowledge of the Force, he could use it to enhance his abilities allowing him to leap and flip around without getting tired.

It’s interesting that you speculated that someone could be using Anakin’s mother as bait. This is were he learned to do exactly that. He sensed his mother’s suffering across the galaxy so he had to go to her. Many years later, as Darth Vader, he will use that tactic by torturing Han, Leah and Chewie at Cloud City because he knows Luke will sense it and come for them. It’s a trap!

Agreed, but I also have always suspected that Palpatine set up this kidnapping of his mother, to create this experience for Anakin. I've never heard it being confirmed, but, based on how orchestrated Palpatine's plans were, I strongly suspect it. And, for all we know, Palpatine instructed Vader to do the same in order to lure Luke. Either way, a great tie-in.

22:18 it always amazes me that Dooku here told everything Obi needs to know yet he ignores him. Probably that is why Obi constantly scratches his chin for the rest of his life, remembering this moment while every voice fades into the background of his consciousness.

It was the early matinee on a Saturday and we had the theater to ourselves. During the Yoda-Dukoo duel they were AWESTRUCK.
I was VERY happy none of them put an eye out during their own 4-way duel as the credits rolled.😬

About Yoda jumping around while fighting yet hobbling around with a cane the rest of the time - he is 800 years old or so, but he's so strong with the Force he can use the Force to strengthen himself when needed. He can't do it continuously as it does take a lot of effort, but in a way it's no different than levitating a rock, or Luke's X-Wing. They don't really address it in the movies, but Force users can augment their abilities with the Force. (like super fast running and the high jumps, etc.)

    • @Garnichgutt
      @Garnichgutt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

The movies are not very good at showing this, but EVERY single Jedi or Sith augments him or herself with the force if they have to go up against another forceuser. Thats why Lightsaberbattles generally speaking are fairly long. Both sides draw in as much power to enhance senses, precognition, strenght and stamina as much as possible. And then one of two things can happen:
      1. Combatant A is ALOT stronger than combatant B and is able to overpower, outmaneuvre or outspeed his opponent; and the fight ends pretty fast (f.E. Dooku vs Ani and Obi, he styles on them with low difficulty)
      2. Neither combatant is strong enough to gain a significant edge to create a fast victory so it ends up a contest of who can keep up the necessary amount of force to fight longer. Slowly both combatants have to let go of certain forceenhancements over time making them either slow, weaker or dulling their senses. Usually thats when Lightsabercombat is decided. The Precognition gets flawed, the reflexes slower and the tired fighter will make more mistakes than the one that can hold onto more of his enhanced abilities.
Yoda uses his insane amount of potential to try to achieve a victory through option 1 usually. This works because he IS more powerful in the force and his adversary cant handle his high risk flurry of attacks. Against Dooku this strategy failed Dooku was able to handle it (for a short amount of time, before he realized he would lose if this continued on, thats why he fled) So dooku managed to flee before Yoda could achieve a stamina victory.
Btw this is also one of the reasons why it is pretty pointless to give lightsabers to non force users. I mean sure you can cut enemies down with or without the force, but wthout physical enhancement of the body and senses, its a pretty ineffective weapon.

A fate worse than death: maybe former Queen of Naboo, Senator in the Galactic Senate, Swinger of Chains, and Mother of Dragons, Mrs. Skywalker becomes Darth Vader's homemaker-trophy-wife. We didn't see her in 4, 5, & 6 because one of the coolest female leads was then busy vacuuming and washing her husband's capes. There's his windy cape; his moody cape; his kicking dead rebels and empty clothing cape; and of course his favorite, his choking cape. Keeping them all clean is a full-time job, since we know how he hates being disappointed. Imagine how mad he would get if somebody else wore his bathrobe!

Personally, this has always been my favorite because of the way that deepened the whole universe; Padmé and Anakin romance is more about the substance than the form -though I have no problem with the acting nor the dialogue-- it was needed to be that way to show the complexity of their situation, and the problematic that their love bring upon them... Palpatine used Dooku to set them up to be wiped out while he amassed a huge army and took on full control of the Republic. The third film sees him remove the final block, wiping out the Jedi order.. they were playing tic tac toe while Palpatine was playing 4d chess.

To address Yoda and how he can jump and flip and spin when he is fighting yet hobbles around with a cane the rest of the time. Yoda uses the 4th form of Lightsaber Combat called Ataru. Ataru is a highly aggressive acrobatic form which embodies his philosophy of the Force in all things. He uses this to compensate for his limitations in height and reach. When Yoda fights he opens himself up to The Force and becomes a living conduit through which The Force flows. He is not inhibited by his age and physical limitations because The Force empowers his body and propels it allowing him to accomplish physical feats that he otherwise would be unable to do. Great video Jen. Keep up the good work.

This is where the Star Wars universe really expands. In addition to the movies we started to see the animated series The Clone Wars series which take place between this and the Revenge of the Sith.
In The Clone Wars they introduce a new character called Ahsoka Tano who starts off as Anikin Skywalker's padwan. After Anakin goes to the darkside she will appear in the animated series The Rebels and then later after the events of Return of the Jedi she will return in the live action series The Mandalorian and The Book of Bobba Fett. Finally, we will be seeing her in her own TV show in 2023.

Glad you liked this movie. Unlike with Phantom Menace, I didn't get to see Attack of the Clones in theatres. I was nearing the end of grade 9, my first year of high school, and my friends and I planned for months to go see the movie when it came out, as a "We survived another school year" thing. However, when the time came for us to go see the movie, my mom had forgotten that she'd already told me I could go see the movie with my friends and made plans with a family friend to go swimming in their pool as a family so I missed out on Attack of the Clones in theatres. One of my friends had missed out too so I made plans with her to go see it. But, by the time our schedules lined up, the movie had ended it's theatrical run, so we saw Austin Powers in Goldmember instead.
Also, a bit of trivia about the movies themselves. Originally, Yoda was a puppet in The Phantom Menace, as he'd been in the Original Trilogy. However, knowing Yoda needed to fight with a lightsaber, George asked the digital effects team to create CGI Yoda, who would then be used in Revenge of the Sith, and be inserted into The Phantom Menace for the Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-ray release in 2011, which is also the version that's on Disney+.

I don't know, if you made that connection or not, but Boba Fett, the son of the bounty hunter Jango Fett is the bounty hunter in the original trilogy who delivers Han to Jabba the Hutt.
In the special edition of Empire they actually dubbed over the original voice of Boba with the actor of Jango, Temuera Morrison, for continuity's sake, because obviously Boba is an exact clone of Jango and would thus sound the same in adulthood.
But yeah, the clones aren't Stormtroopers per se. They are simply known as clone troopers.
But interesting fact: When the clone army is first shown on Kamino, the accompanying soundtrack is that of the seperatist droid army from Episode 1. Just kinda sprinkling in from the start that something might not be quite right with where the army came from.
It's a whole thing, the mystery of how the clone army came to be, what Lord Tyrannus (aka Count Dooku) has to do with it and how Jedi master Sifo Dyas (who died under mysterious circumstances) fits into the picture.

The two highlights of this film for me are:
    1) Seeing all the Jedi fight in the coliseum. We take it for granted now, but at the time we've never seen anything like it. All the Jedi in their prime fighting together.
    2) The Emperor rising to power. It's really well done, it's straight from the dictator's playbook. Create a threat or boogeyman for the public, and use that to gain more political powers and military might. Not many sci-fi franchises have depicted a dictator's rise quite as well as this.

First, The gray haired guy with the blue tunic is Anthony Daniels the actor that Plays C3-P0. Second, the black guy with the two Twi'lek (the aliens with the head tails) is Ahmed Best. I don't know if someone said this, but the clones are in fact not stormtroopers (I'm sure this isn't a spoiler) the stormtroopers were civilians, less expensive and less effective, but easier to manipulate with propaganda and such into joining. The clones were the real victims of the clone wars. But more, I cannot say without spoiling anything.

When Yoda has to fight physically, he can temporarily increase his physical abilities using the force. I like to think of it as a "burst mode". He can't sustain it forever, just long enough for some short battles. That's why he has to go back to hobbling on the walking cane when he's not in a fight.

Yoda is like a Grandmaster in the teachings of Jedi. His species is amphibian/repetitious so life expectancy is around 1000 years. Notice the galaxy they live in looks like our Spiral galaxy.
What many dont realize is the milky way is more than just our sun and 9 planets in Star Wars the beings have came to know all life forms that reside in the hundreds of star systems. It was said that the galxay was behind the Andromeda Galaxy so that would put it about 1500 years ago. 😆

I live near the beach. The local supermarket is there, and I often take photos of the sunset, ships coming into port, the surfers, or Corgi Con (an annual gathering of local corgi owners and their cute little dogs). I know people love the beach, but when the wind kicks up, and I'm getting girt in my eyes and trying to keep grit out of my camera and groceries, all I can think is "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating...and it gets everywhere." Seriously though, people find that line unbearably cringey (and Anakin stroking Padme's arm doesn't help), but he's keep in mind that he's supposed to be 19 years old. Everybody needs to stop and think back and remember how great they were trying to talk to their intended at that age. Add to that the fact that Anakin is emotionally stunted by his lack of an emotionally healthy childhood. The scene cringe, but it's also kind of authentic to the character.

6:45 Answer is usually no. Jedi typically only use lightsabers because there's a sense of detachment from the act of killing when using things like blasters and explosives; enforcing the use of lightsabers is meant to remind Jedi exactly _what_ is lost when a life is taken, so that they don't take killing lightly. That being said, there are Jedi who have used other weapons, mostly in the Legends continuity: Kyle Katarn, for example, and in the far more distant future, Cade Skywalker.

It was a very nice reaction video as always! Your intuition about Palpatine is so good! Threepio really is a lovable, funny droid. A bit timid, but always ready to serve a good cause. In the Clone Wars series, he gets involved in many funny adventures. I also recommend this excellent series to your attention, if you like Star Wars, Clone Wars is also a must!
It starts off a bit childish at first, because it was originally intended for children. But it turned out that plenty of adults liked it, and many fans asked for it to be more serious. So it was! The initial "Sky Guy" was gone, instead Skywalker became "Master" again. If I remember correctly, there were six seasons, each with 22 episodes. The graphics are really good and there is much more action in this than in big movies and there are really exciting stories. You can see your every favorites in it, in fact, Skywalker is completely different here, you will like him better. The series brought me a new favorite, Ahsoka, Skywalker's apprentice. You'll like her too, I promise! Before the series, you have to watch the introductory "zero" part, which is an hour and a half long and is also excellent as a standalone big movie!
But now I can't wait to see what the third episode will be like for you.. It's great to watch these movies with you again! 😍

The short easy answer for Mace Windu's purple light saber is that he can tap an enemy's dark side powers, and turn them against them, without being tainted himself. (Good blue plus evil red makes purple) He's one of only a few Jedi who have been able to achieve this power.

Did you figure out who Jango Fetts son was? This movie is actually my 2nd least favorite Star Wars movie. I thought there was just a bit too much cheese in this one. Although I was very happy Jar Jar was cut down. Yeah Yoda being able to go from cane to full aerobics just shows how strong with the force he is. “A Chosen One shall come, born of the force, and through him will ultimate balance in the Force be restored, bringing evil to its knees”
Anakin is the chosen one but he forfeits his destiny, so the force sends “two” of the same family, same blood to secure and make sure the prophecy is fulfilled

I'm convinced that Padme's love isn't genuine. Ani uses mind control to get what he wants. Ani's mom was the key to controlling him. The jedi council, the senate, Padme, nobody could come up with the money to buy her freedom but a moisture farmer could? Ani kills the people that kidnapped her but not the guy who bought her and failed to protect her. Not the bug that wouldn't set her free and sold her. Doesn't compute for me. Palpatine knows about this married couple and none of the jedis do. Yoda can feel things around the galaxy and can't see Ani and Padme. Fiddlesticks! Glad you're happy with the progression of the plot. Next comes the envelopement of young Skywalker and the victory of the darkside. Luv ya! B-bye.

The Star Wars prequel trilogy is a great masterpiece, it gives a real political context to better understand the events of the original trilogy, there are more planets like Naboo, Coruscant, Mustafar, Utapau, there is a lot of creativity in the settings, the lightsaber fights and the action scenes are more fluid, dynamic and better paced, there are a lot of emotions, the characters are very endearing, Anakin's journey is very well told from the beginning because he starts his switch to the dark side as soon as Qui Gon dies in episode 1. Yes, if Qui Gon would have trained Anakin, he wouldn't have become the monster he became, Anakin didn't need a brother like Obi-Wan but a father like Qui Gon, and his switch continues in episode 2 with the death of his mother, a scene that is so sad by the way. And Palpatine had the power over Anakin since his childhood, because at the end of The Phantom Menace, Anakin starts to side with the Emperor, proof that his destiny was all set, and this is also illustrated in episode 2 with the shadow of Anakin that forms the mask of Vader. And his love story with Padme is very well done because it's sad to think that he lost his great love because of the emperor, and we really hate the emperor and it's a relief when Vader takes the emperor and throws him into the void in Return of the Jedi because it's all his fault. The emperor is also better developed in the prequels than in the original trilogy since he is really shown as a manipulative cunning. The fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin gives more weight to their reunion in the Death Star in episode 4.
There are memorable characters like Darth Maul, Obi-Wan McGregor, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Sidious, great scenes like the pod race, the fight with Maul and the one with Yoda and Palpatine and Obi-Wan and Anakin, the battle of Geonosis and in the prequels, we learn more about the history of the Empire with the fall of the Republic and we learn more about the Sith, and the actors are great.
