    I feel like people don't talk about Urlando enough. Dude went 1:39.2 to get third, huge PB, just bad luck he was in the fastest heat ever.

      Might also be one of the only heats at a top-level competition ever where all 8 swimmers go a PB

      Urlando hasn’t gone his best time in the 2fly his best event, in a few years. I think he’ll get there but if you aren’t at the very top then you aren’t talked about nearly as much.

    A question for the specialists: I don't understand how Hugo Gonzales was able to quite clearly beat Leon Marchand (future double medley world champion !) and Carson Foster on the 400 individual medley, to find himself some months later only 12th in the 200 medley in Budapest, more than 3" behind Léon Marchand ? He was injured, or in shape too soon perhaps? It's a mystery to me...

    • @Will-ib7ok
      @Will-ib7ok 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Gonzales could have had a better taper leading up to NCAAs. Plus short course doesn't always translate the same to long course for everyone, and the races are swam pretty differently. Also, I think if both Marchand and Foster showed up to NCAAs in the same form that they were in at worlds, they'd both be able to get under 3:32.8
