I remember going there 6-7 years ago during the Main Street Arts Festival and Christmas Parade. I was like, "Wow, this is so much better than downtown Dallas. The streets are clean. The buildings look nostalgic. Atmosphere and music is nice. And you aren't bugged by as many panhandlers as are you are in Dallas".
Now the tables have turned. There's the new AT&T Discovery District in Dallas. West End District got a new park. Deep Ellum is evolving. And there's more to come.
Also, if you want to visit Fort Worth, you're better off visiting the Stockyards, West 7th St, and Magnolia Ave, just to name a few.

Right. Downtown Dallas has really really improved. I just wish Sundance Square didn’t have to decline. It would be nice for The Metroplex to have two vibrant downtown areas.

My Grandfather (who knew Jim Bass himself because he was Mayor of Azle for 38 years) would be absolutely heartbroken to see the degradation of the Downtown Area as a whole. I never thought the Bass Bros. kids would mess things up this badly... They have become greedy little trolls, whose own net worth is more important than the city as a whole. It is very sad.

It sounds like the management has other plans for Sundance.

I remember when The Reata was at one time The Caravan of Dreams. Sad about what has happened to Sundance Square.

I am just sickened by what has gone on in FW....The Tandy Center is gone, Ridgmar Mall is gone, Caravan of Dreams is gone, the FWISD is failing big time and loosing students. FW is a shell of its former self. It is my understanding that downtown FW used to be a ghost town until the Bass Brothers came into the situation and now it is turning into a ghost town. I see plenty of empty buildings in downtown and around that have been empty since I was in elementary school and I just turned 50. FW has had bad leadership with Kay Granger, Mike Moncrief, Kenneth Barr, Betsy Price, Bob Bolen and FW elected them multiple times.

@@turntableone4356 No, North East of Courthouse an old store, there for several decades, under the bridge is the Trinity River. I think Ed Harris was the manager, I delivered Wonder Bread there in the early 80's.

This is heartbreaking. As a 50+ year resident of Fort Worth, I absolutely loved what the Bass family did for our town with their vision and philanthropic work. Their development and growth of Sundance Square over the past decades was phenomenal. The real issue here, according to "insider" business owners and employees in the Square, is Ed's new wife Sasha. I wish the rest of the family would step back in and take back control!

When I was delivering Wonder Bread downtown in the late 80's & 90's, I remember on Saturdays when only Eckerd Drugs & Hot Dog Depot was open, tumbleweeds blowing across Houston Street.
