I fell on my tailbone in childhood and have had one leg shorter/longer than the other for as long as I can remember. Being one month short of 69, the problems have been immense and getting worse, it feels, by the day. The Quad. Lumborum on both sides are often sore or go into muscle spasms and can be down right painful. You are a Godsend! Thank you SO much for this and all of your videos & for sharing your knowledge.

I just did this. I though I needed a chiro adjustment. Thankyou heaps. I can't believe that's all it took. I have had this problem for atleast 13 years. Until now. I can't get over how simple it was. Thanks again doc, and also thanks to youtube for making it accessible for the masses.

Because - it seems - most MD’s , are angry they ever went into healthcare because it is controlled by BIG RX . I think many of them get so apathetic that they just go along with the agenda : prescribe , prescribe, prescribe- and ignore , ignore, ignore. They’re mad they have to pay out so much malpractice insurance and stay up to date with insanely stupid policies etc.. which is exactly how the BIG RX’s want they system to go : keep everyone increasingly sick , make them broke and eventually kill off as much of the population as possible- while making it look like it is simply “poor health” as the cause.
Politicians and BIG Corporations (RX’s) need to be criminally investigated and charged

Usually a short leg is due to a pelvic rotation. Usually one hip comes forward and the other goes back , it's muscle shortening.

I just tried this and for the first time I was able to walk up the stairs normally just a few minutes ago. I’ve been having to lead with my left (longer leg) and let my right leg (my shorter leg) join the left on the same step. All the pain to walk isn’t gone yet but I’ll give you an update after I try it more. I only did the exercise the 10x like he recommends. One set so far.

Bear in mind that a short leg presentation can also be due to anterior rotation of the pelvis on the other (long) side, or posterior rotation of the pelvis on the short side, and requires different exercises.

Today I try with Thera band thighs on my long leg and pull away from the leg of my love seat for 30 seconds, I can’t believe my short leg are about the same with my long leg, it’s amazing , hopefully it will solve my numbness leg for good ! Dr. Berg you’re a lifesaver, thank you so very much !

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for this video! I have had quite a severe uneven leg length from the age of 10 until now. (I'm 31) it has gotten slightly better over the years but i still notice it when i walk, stand, etc.. i was given the option of having my leg surgically broken and then lengthened with screws and wires and as a child. Thankfully my parents regected the option and after watching this video i am so glad they did. I use to do tranpolining and have played sports a lot growing up. I've always felt that perhaps my hips were uneven and not my legs as the left side of my back feels incredibly tight to the point of pain. I am going to start stretching my leg 🦵🙌

I have suffered with a shorter leg for 20 years and in the last five years has caused arthritis in the hip on the longer side and difficultly performing my job as a martial arts instructor.
I less than 30 days of practicing this exercise I have had a remarkable change the leg length on the shorter side. In fact, my hips are now aligned correctly and the pain in the bad hip (longer leg), has massively improved. Thank you. No other video, physio or medical expert has ever offered me the key to make rapid improvements. 👍👍

To get the same length legs for ever, get Atlas Profilax done on you. Everyone have different lengt legs until this is done. I know a lady I helped get a pair of shoes with different heights. I asked why she did not use them and she had had it done. The difference on her was huge, like 4 cm or something. I had it done and I got a better body position and movement, no more pain in neck when lying down. One guy I brought to do it had such bent back/shoulders and he bacame completely straight after a while. It is truly amazing. Everyone should have it done. The Atlas is in wrong position unless your mother had it done before she had you - then it is straight.

He gave me a heel lift to put on my left side. Years ago a chiropractor I worked for also gave me a heel lift and Foot Levelers. Why don't most chiropractors don't know what you are saying and have you put the heel lift on the short side??? I will change the lift to the right side, what you say makes sense.

Dr. Berg. I'm a Disabled Veteran after having both knees and left hip replaced ( right hip to be replaced) I ended up with my right leg almost 1" shorter resulting in lower back pain and sciatic pain that I control with Turmeric, my Orthopedist had me insert a 1 - 3/4" heel lift that did not work if I would walk all day it would push my foot forward resulting in a small blood blisters on my toes, as a result of all the surgery and leg length problems, In Feb I was walking in a store and I felt a big pop in my left ankle and could not walk it was very painful, a MRI showed a complete torn Achilles. I had severe pain and swelling from my calf to my toes, Because of my scheduled right hip surgery and the Achilles problem and age (64) they decided not to go with surgery so I've been seating with my leg elevated for 6 months with all the crap that one goes thru seating around for months ( with Therapy ) Its 7/29 I still have some control and feeling problems but I can walk and use stairs. I still have hip problems that will be evacuated on 8/9.
My concern is the leg length problem and I know that the Achilles, Back Pain, sciatic problem were caused by the leg length and over using each side of my body between surgery's WHAT COULD BE DONE ABOUT THE LEG LENGTH !!!!!!!.

I dont agree with it, some people truely have a short leg due to short bone in one leg or pelvic area and it will not go bcz its not a musle issue, its a bone issue and for that only heel lift works or bone surgery to reduce length of longer leg.

I was hanging on my inversion table by my longer leg contemplating the strange chemistry that Dr Berg says requires us to pull the longer leg to make the short leg match the long… when I had a realization. It is all to do with the hips, correcting uneven hips.
My longer leg has a higher hip. The iliac crest hip bone is higher on the long side and lower on the short side. By pulling on the longer leg, there is a fulcrum or teeter totter seesaw effect, where the higher hip is pulled down to earth and thus allows the lower hip to rise higher, helping to lengthen the short leg or at least make the hips even again and legs match in length. There is less risk of lateral scoliosis of the spine recurring or getting worse as well. If I am right I hope this insight is helpful.

This is a follow up comment after two months using the knowledge Dr Berg has provided. My uneven hips have mostly resolved. I can walk several hundred yards without pain. I have settled on the following daily routine:
      1. Five minutes on inversion table at 45 degrees with the “long leg” only secured. This pulls the raised hip into a horizontal (perfectly even, level) position.
      2. Five minutes inverted at 45 degrees with both legs clamped. This stretches mostly the so-called “short” leg allowing the tensed tendons and muscles causing the appearance of shortness, to stretch out. The hip will lose some horizontality during this stretch but it can’t be helped.
      3. Finish off with another five minutes with the so-called “long leg” to bring the hips back into level at the end.
If one only stretches the “long” leg then the tensed up “short” leg misses out on a stretch which its ligaments need to extend back to normal length.
The initial insight from Dr Berg’s video has allowed me to use the inversion table to regain a straighter spine and more even hips. There is less pain, the lateral curve caused by uneven hips has gone. I see a chiropractor once a week to check overall alignment. I use off the shelf orthotic inserts but they are both identical heights for left and right, only providing support.

Hello Dr. Berg, was wondering how long would i need to do this exercise for in order to get the length of my short leg back to the normal length. I'd been compensating my injured leg with my other leg for about five months now and I do have this short leg problem with my uninjured leg, are there other exercice that I could do to get my legs back to the way it was before?

I just tried this based on other comments on How to do it yourself. I lay on the floor and stretched my long leg as far as I could while pulling the short leg up. It really did RElax it. I've been stretching the hell out of QL muscles to try and even my hips out.

YESSSS it is amazing but I do have to do those exercises every day. I didn't do for a couple of days and the pain came back, but let's say "another kind of pain", so I'm sure that little by little also with the help of massages I will be completelly healed. I'm a huge believer of natural medicine. First I go to the dr. for a diagnosis and after I do my research as I know by experience that my body can't take too much of the traditional medicines. So I help myself with the food and homeopatics.

I've had several hip surgeries as a child, mostly exploratory. I have no hardware in my hip and very skeptical about hip replacement. What would you recommend for me at this point?

I've been seeing a Chiropractor regularly for over 3 years now for a twisted pelvis that results in sacroiliac pain. He treats my pelvis using a Thompson drop table, which helps for a day or so and then I'm back to square one. I saw my Chiro today and asked him if it was possible I had one leg shorter because of the twisted pelvis and he said, absolutely it would be the right side, which he is trying to fix. My question is this: How do I do the leg stretch pull on my own? Would I just lie down on the bed and stretch out the opposite leg as far as I can and hold it for 5-10 seconds? I've tried so many exercises including that leg stretch and nothing seems to help at all....I also have a curvature in one direction on my lower spine and a curvature to the opposite side in my upper back. I'm a mess I'm afraid....any suggestions would be helpful and I will pass them on to my Chiropractor. Thanks Dr Berg!

You described the right way and I did it today to fix my short leg. I stretched 10 times for ten seconds my longer leg. It has worked and I did this at home on my bed. I also will be trying to do it daily and see if I have other muscles which are not releasing.
Hope you find some more things that help you and heal you!

Thank you Dr Berg Your method is really adapted however I think this method could be more efficient if you try the same thing elangate just breath and moveyour pelvis as a 8 .
Furthermore If you keep your feet tight as a ballerina you easily scretch the tibalis anterior and the soleus at the salme time.
Finally I think that Your Method is quietly more adapted to the pelvis . But what about calves and what about lumbar ?
