    Thank you so much! It sucks when the wound is at the back and the one helping DOESNT listen *pull hair*. Told him to apply pea size silicon for surgery wound and he applied 1mm size for a 3cm scar and dont even bother to massage. ARGK
    I am also doing acupuncture now to my wound. My wound was actually deep but pretty dry (they prescribed 1 course antibodies and then the seaweed gel, cant rem the medical name to fill up the hole) and I quickly went to the TCM for medicine which really speed up the process (very surprised!) . Once i started on the TCM herbs, my wound healing speed up. I also moved from daily cleanup by nurse to alternate days then to twice a week.
    When the wound is abt to heal up, I started acupuncture. So the concept is that our blood circulation is poor and having acupuncture will improve the blood circulation ard the area, making the cells generate... i guess similar to massage. My wound is red at the moment. Surface is okay. I also tried to test with Japan horse oil. *Very adventurous user here.... So lets hope for the best

I did massages wore silicone strips and the scarring gel, however my scars are still wide and black. I'm a very light skin person. Please help me on what can I do to make thia un noticeable. I want you to do other procedures but I want to make sure I have a better result this time. I can't wait❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

      The best therapy we have for scars is massage and silicone (scar gel and silicone strips). There are a lot of laser therapies that have been proposed to help scarring but there is not good data from studies to suggest one over the other. They are expensive and not certain to work. I would massage and apply silicone for another year and if they are not where you want them I would see a dermatologist to see if they can try a laser to help. There are many, many lasers so I would start with one that they suggest and do a small area and see if you get benefit before diving right in.

    So during 12 months of healing does the faja apply enough pressure to help the scar to heal well? Are all the scars located with the faja area? If not what do you use apply pressure to the scar to help it heal well? Would these same techniques improve old scars?

    Hi Dr. William! Thank you for the video! If u had to pick a scare cream for scars from lipo+360 (someone that is very prone to hyperpigmentation) would you go with Mederma Advanced Scar Gel or ScarAway Silicone Scar Gel?

  • @itsjustus5808

    Thank you for sharing this information. You've mentioned scars that are raised. I have a question about a scar that is indented quite a bit due to having a wound vac attached to it after having an appendectomy and a colon resection. These 2 surgeries were performed within days of each other. Would an indented scar be one that would have the potential for a scar revision? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    • @DrWilliamMiami

      Yes, absolutely. Those usually have better results than scars that are raised.

    This is an incredible video thank you!
    I had a 3mm mole removed on upper vermilion of lip, right on the cupid's bow, via hole punch biopsy 2 weeks ago. The excision mark looks to be diagonal/vertical.
    Can I massage this small area with just my finger? Also, in what direction do I massage - vertical, diagonal, horizontal, in circles?
    How long should I massage for and how often each day?
    I'd appreciate so much if you could answer these questions. Thank you Dr Miami!

    • @DrWilliamMiami
      @DrWilliamMiami  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you. I am not Dr Miami btw.
      I can't answer for you specifically ,but I can tell you what I tell my patients. I have my patients massage their incisions in ALL directions for two minutes twice a day for 12 months. Seems like a long time. It is. I usually have them start at 2-3 weeks when the incision is BUMPY and LUMPY. That's normal. The more massage the better. I just have patients use their fingers and if their incision is in the lip area it is easy because they can massage from inside and outside at the same time by placing one finger inside the mouth and the other outside the mouth on the lip. Make sure to ask your surgeon what their preferred scar protocol is.

    So are there any options ( besides a tattoo) for a hyperpigmentated scar after a tummy tuck? (My scar is not raised and thin but too dark)I heard of bleaching maybe laser, what are your thoughts?

    • @DrWilliamMiami
      @DrWilliamMiami  2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      There are lightening agents out there--Hydroquinone is one of them. You doctor can prescribe it or there are lower strength formulations over the counter included in makeup products. I am a big fan of laser and I know patients have used that in the past for hyper pigmented scars--I would defer to a dermatologist for any laser therapy. Maybe I will get a dermatologist on an upcoming BTM Podcast in the future. The podcast is not released yet but coming soon!
