This sounds like we need to spray paint certain devices now with UV-paint and have a little blue light. So, once they steal that device, just walk with the UV-light at night through the RV park to identify it and then call police.

So sorry about the theft. About 4 weeks ago we camped at Fort Yargo State Park in Windner, Georgia and while we took our dog to UGA Veterinarian College for her appointment our yard mat and water hose with it's filter and attachments were stolen. Our name and dates of our reservation were clipped to the site post while we were gone for 3 hours for all to see. The yard mat was staked down and the hose was coiled up and attached to the spigot while we were gone, we have done it this way for our day trips for years and never had a problem before, we have a Class C motorhome. It cost us $170 to replace it all with the same quality. It's very sickening now how low a thief will stoop to steal what another man worked for.

Our tackle box was stolen, but they hid it in a high grass area with other campers stolen stuff. Most of the tackle was my grandfather's. I cried, till we found it later in the morning. It was clear that everyone knew who stole it and they were kicked out.

orange, pink and blue spray paint is your friend. Anything such a sewer hose, power cables, etc are spray painted so if someone swipes something, it is easy to identify. Had someone take a 5 gallon jerry can off the truck and reported it to campground manager. One of his cleaning crew spotted it. Individual claimed it was his, but in addition to having propane tanks and more painted the same, our name was spray stenciled on the bottom. Manager called the cops, the "borrower" claimed it was his, cop looked on the bottom for our name and gifted the "borrower" with a bright pair of wrist jewelry. Turns out the value of the fuel and cost of the jerry can made the theft a felony. Got the jerry can back (still had the fuel). And the icing on the cake was it was full of diesel, the thief's truck had a gas engine.

Thieves stole props and sound equipment I needed for acrobatic trick dog performances. Like a toy piano, costumes, and hula hoops. Even a skipping rope.

A chain with a couple of padlocks might discourage someone from taking your power cord. Also, a security camera recording the area might discourage someone from stealing as well.

Hey Guys.. Sorry for your loss. But, I have yet to see why anyone runs the water or sewer hose out and leaves them hooked up.
The electric line is the only thing I hook up when I first park at a Park or Campground,
I use my onboard water until I need to refill it and then put the hose up afterwards. The same goes with the sewer hose.
I use and fill the grey and black tanks until it needs emptying. Then hook up and empty them. Then put the hoses up.
If everyone else did this, maybe no one would smell each other's sewer.
    See Ya later..

A few weeks ago my toolbox (ammo type box) was taken that I left by my sewer hose. Luckly I took out my good channel plyers. All my brass sewer fittings were in the box. Also, that weekend a bundle of firewood walked away. The owners of the campground rented Out a huge area next to us to a traveling circus. I guess a lot of jokes could be made. Must have been the magic act.

Knock on wood, we have been traveling across the country in our RV for years and, so far, haven't had anything stolen. We are really good about securing all our items in addition to motion detectors, security lights and cameras. Maybe people see all the security measures and decide to move to an easier target...or maybe we have just been lucky.

I haven’t read other posts but I wonder since you left with you rig, I wonder if someone thought you had left and figured, hey that is a nice hose Slunky. Who knows? It does seem weird why they would replace it with a broken one. Lessons learned though, right? Hope to meet you at either Hershey or Tampa. We are on our way to Hershey now with a 5 day layover in Terra Haute, IN.
Nice job ETrailer! We are not fans of the Slinky’s either but it works in a pinch. We didn’t know there was a better quality one. Even the aluminum slinky did not hold up and I really do take care of our things. -Pete

Who does not go to a campground for new patio furniture? It's the American way. You got a party coming up? You got to a campground and get a bunch of chairs and a couple of kids bikes. They leave them laying around for anyone to take or borrow for a few days. 😁 The best is during the week before Memorial day, they just dump stuff off. It's all sitting there, BBQ grills, bikes, fire pits, Big mama's over the shoulder boulder holders. All of it. Maybe a kayak or two also.

I was pleased it had sewer hose, directv box, dvd player plus a bunch of useful miscellaneous items like wheel chocks, jack pads, small propane bottles etc. We paid for it and said we’d be back the next day with an experienced class a driver to bring it home. Needless to say all that stuff was gone and the dealer denied it was ever there. I’m not buying another used rig any time soon but if I ever do I’m getting all that listed in writing and signed by dealer or seller. And pictures. Sorry for your loss, sir. If you can afford such a fine RV, maybe you should consider investing in the installation of a security system to monitor the entire perimeter of your RV when you and your wife are away from the campsite. Infrared, wireless, perimeter security sensors can be configured for any size campsite. When triggered at night while sleeping, LED strobe lights could be triggered to disorient the perpetrator, animal or otherwise. To complete the surprise that awaits the perpetrator, consider an audio recording via speakers below the RV blaring out: " I gotta get out of here" Dwight Frye, by Alice C. Allow other campers to witness a test demonstration of your security system before you retire in the evening. " Last time I checked, sewerage does not flow uphill.

I had someone who stole the gas out of my generator when we left for an hour and and half we know who did it she was mad that we were running it at 7pm the night before. The funny thing about it is she didn't take the rest of the gas in the gas cans that were chained to the generator. So I filled it back up and started it up she left the campground about 7 that night. I should've left it running on propane, and she wouldn't have figured it out.

Decades of camping and never a single thing stolen til 1 week ago. Hubby forgot to lock up the hitch after taking the tow dolly off the RV. Not what you would think but a couple hours later and returned to find the cotter pin was stolen from hitch. He left the hitch was laying alongside the rv on the ground. So bizarre-so luckily we were there for a few more days-had to take a trip to the nearest town 20 minutes away. New cotter pin $10. The hitch would have been worse. Convict Lake Campground so the name was appropriate I guess.

A couple of years ago I took my fifth wheel to a local (to home) RV dealer for some minor maintenance and winterization prior to storing for the winter. Usually take it to the dealer where I purchased it, but being 4 hrs away in another state I figure it was not worth the long trip. So…when I pulled it out of storage the next season, I discovered the “local” dealer that I paid to winterize, didn’t. I had a busted toilet valve and couple of frozen, leaky connections when I hooked up water. Needless to say, I was kinda miffed, HOWEVER, when I opened the storage compartment I found a “gift,” a rather newish 25’ 50 amp power cord. Having priced those before, I let the fact that I paid for winterization they didn’t do and later replaced a valve and few connections as a fair trade, so I kept the cord and have never been back. So I guess the theft of services and parts by the dealer was replaced by payment in kind of spare power cable 😂. BTW, I do my own winterization now, much much cheaper AND I know it’s actually done.
