    Btw, what i liked in this city is the weather - gloomy and rainy, just like in Portland. But along with it this kind of atmosphere doesn't make me feel depressed due to the artchitecture - city's buildings look modern, stylish, not that grey, with hi-tech vibes. But the suburbs that were shown just melted my heart. I guess it's the perfect place to live with your family when you're in your late 30's, with a loving wife and two children :D

      I grew up in Seattle and my favorite weather is rainy and dark too. The burbs you saw were probably around the U. District (maybe). They will melt your heart but be prepared to pay a lot for this warm cozy feeling. I can't afford to live in Seattle nowadays.

      lots of grey buildings in portland, seattle has more color in its buildings so the grey skys kinda dont bug as much. no fucks given in portland , they just dont paint the concrete it was built with so the grey skys blend into the buildings and portland is depressing

      My sister has lived in Seattle since '72. When she visits me in Denver, we'll sit in the backyard and after about ten minutes of squinting and shielding her eyes from our intense sun, she'll run back inside, yelling "How can you live here?!" I think she's a vampire...

    I love Seattle. I have been there a couple of times to work as a travel nurse for Swedish Medical Center Cherry Hill. I used to spend my days off at Pike Place Market. I stayed in an Apartment in Capitol Hill across from Seattle University. Such a beautiful city! Thanks for sharing, it brought back good memories!

      Mady Javier don’t listen to this guy and visit belltown, it’s very safe, in-fact cap hill is probably one of the most crime infested areas of the last couple years. However it is still safer than most city neighborhoods.
      Space needle was remodeled that’s why it looked like crap when he was there. It’s now pretty cool after a 100 million renovation. It’s all glass on the observation deck, even the floor.
      There are many many great places to eat. Check out yelp, this guy highlighted none f those.
      Make sure you hop on the ferry’s! Again something this guy has no clue about.
      Don’t visit Aberdeen, it is pretty run down, has the highest unemployment rate in the state.
      Have fun!

    • @MitchellTravels
      @MitchellTravels  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      nadiainthesky funny you’d mention that. I shot this video back in November 2017. The style of the episodes, content and the way they’re shot has changed towards the cinematic and storytelling approach. Back when this was shot, it was more about winging it.
      That said, I did like Seattle and I do compliment it a few times in the video, even despite visiting in the wet season.
      I do appreciate you taking the time to watch the different episodes and making a comment with a good observation!

    • @nadiainthesky
      @nadiainthesky 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, fair point :) well keep up the great work, your storytelling style and editing remind me a lot of Anthony Bourdain, and it's pretty impressive that you seem to be doing most of this solo(?). You deserve a ton more subscribers given the quality of your videos -- I look forward to seeing your channel grow!

    • @MitchellTravels
      @MitchellTravels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s very nice of you to say, and yes, my style is more of the storytelling approach used by Anthony Bourdain, as I find that the best way to showcase a place. No Reservations and Parts Unknown were gold in my eyes.
      I do everything on my own here start to upload and hopefully the channel will continue growing! Thanks for the kind words, Nadia and I’m glad to have viewers/subs like you 💪🏻😁

    Great guide, just some suggestions as a local. At pikes place get jacks chowder, it’s the best. Also make sure to check out all of the underground market levels. Going up the space needle isn’t worth it, it looks dope but yeah just check it out form a distance, or visit the Seattle center surrounding it. Capitol Hill is awesome, great record stores and restaurants. It’s dope for kids who like music and books. There’s like three record stores and book stores right by neumos. And CAFE VITA IS GOOD. While in Capitol Hill if u like coffee check out the big Starbucks where they make coffee. Big pipes and glass walls. In the u district you can check out the massive outdoor shopping center, u village, if ur into that (I’m not). Does that you shouted out coastal kitchen I go there all the time. While their go to volunteer park and right down the block for, the coastal kitchen is bakery NueVo, the best bakery in town. Seriously the almond croissant is the best thing I’ve ever tasted. If you want music, check out neumos or the crocodile (where Nirvana began performing). Other great things are the farmers markets and the entire Ballard neighborhood. Ballard is a melting pot of authentic foreign restaurants and beautiful stores. Visit hot cakes if u want something hella good. Finally I have to shout out some beaches, cause it is a coastal city. Wanna spend a summer day at the warm massive sandy beach? Go to golden gardens in Ballard (WHILE YOUR THEIR STOP BY RED MILL BURGERS) wanna get awesome hiking trails and great view? Go to carkeek park. Wanna have warm enough fresh water you can swim in? Go to magnuson park.
    Lol idk why i wrote all that but if your a tourist srsly take my advice. These are the places to be

    I used to live in Seattle for a few years. It's similar to San Francisco in alot of ways but not quite that "world class city" type. It's a beautiful place but the weather really is very gloomy and cold for most of the year. Summers are usually sunny and dry but it doesn't get that hot. As for the people, it's got that same pretentiousness San Francisco has but with more of a sociopath culture. Many seattle locals are wolves in sheeps clothing so you have to be careful who you trust.

    I totally get this love-hate issue with Hipsters. It's like there are an alternative group that actually love and get culture and fine dining, but then again, they did the uber lame thing of killing rock music and replaced it with indy, poppy millennial whooping awful sounding crap by disowning and shitting on distortion..
    Otherwise, I would like to recommend Victrola coffee roasters in Cap hill and my favorite bar, Canon in the same area as well which has the best Whiskey list in town according to the owners of Canlis, Seattle's most fanciest and dress code required place.

    • @jetcitysinatra7300
      @jetcitysinatra7300 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      *Erica Gamet* yes he said Beacon Hill because it was closer to Pike Place Market. But Beacon Hill is the third hill that Seattle is built on. 1. Queen Anne. 2. Capitol Hill. 3. Beacon Hill and the 4th is First Hill. Capitol Hill is s straight shot to the Market. It takes about a half hour to walk from Broadway and Pike.

    • @MitchellTravels
      @MitchellTravels  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Beacon Hill is close enough to everything while still being away from it all. That means it's close enough to this place: The Pike Place Market". The Beacon Hill station (which was a block from the home) was always roughly 15-20 minutes from Pike Place and 7-10 minutes from where I visited in Capitol Hill. Clearly, this is not far, and hence, it is "close enough"

    • @jetcitysinatra7300
      @jetcitysinatra7300 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      *Mitchell Travels* when you put it like that it doesn't sound far at all. I just didn't picture you as a transit kind of guy, Uber maybe but I love to walk and from Capitol Hill it is just a quick 20 minute walk downhill. I had an apartment in Capitol Hill and also the 801 apartments downtown. I plan on moving back to Seattle in the next year and have found an apartment that is over by the Space Needle. It is a mile away from so I can get my walking in then take the Monorail to Westlake center and walk over to the Pike Place Market. I am an artist and will be painting and drawing portraits of people and Seattle Cityscapes. This is one of my oil pastel paintings of Seattle. The whole painting is 18x24 and also a close up to see some of the detail better. I will be selling prints soon of my Seattle artwork. photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/180712/22/5b4837c120da5.jpg photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/180712/22/5b48399cd1516.jpg

      explore Pike Place, also for their food :) If you want an awesome view of the Seattle Skyline, skip the Space Needle. Head to the Columbia Center, and the observation deck.
      Yes, there's tourists everywhere. :)

    Seattle seems decent, it seems like a very privy place full of college grads and hipsters. the people get old really fast , so i wouldn't count on dating as much as the beautiful scenery and fresh weather

      Nicole, Everybody wants the opposite from were they grow up from. Seattle is extremely beautiful but hard to enjoy with grey clouds and lots and lots of rain. Two months of summer is not enough for me.
      I left Gore-Tex, Wool, and Fleece behind =)
      I've spent a lot of time in Arizona and yea its hot there, hotter then Texas.

    • @OzSeattle
      @OzSeattle 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can barely breath at a 117 Degrees. I can take 2 months of hot but 10 months of wet and cold I can not =P
      Headed up to Seattle in a week. It'll be in the 70's and raining in Aug? That's why I left, That an tanning beds =)

      *Christian* it was way better in the late 80's early to mid 90's. Rent was cheaper and the cost of living was lower. I loved living in Seattle but everything that made Seattle beautiful is gone now. The carpetbaggers who moved in to Seattle for a quick buck or to live the stoner lifestyle has ruined Seattle.
