Nice video. One question. In the flows you see the arm devices/buttons. From which homey app is this? It’s not from the heimdall app right ? So the app with the purple shield icon.
Hi. I created three "Mode" switches with the "VD (Virtual Devices) App". So download the VD App @ homey.app/en-us/app/com.arjankranenburg.virtual/Virtual-Devices/ When you create a virtual device, select "Mode" as the type and name the mode, (i.e. Disarm). I selected the "shield icon" as part of the virtual device setup. Once your virtual modes are set up you can use the Heimdall Surveillance Card in a a flow to turn on the Disarm VD when the surveillance mode changes to "Disarm". I realize that I could have just as easily used the Heimdall (when mode change) card. The reason I use these Virtual Mode cards is because I have my SmartThings/Aeotec Hub connected with my Homey Hub. I actually change the Virtual Device Modes based on the Mode Changes within the SmartThings App via the SmartThings Home Monitor. This way both the SmartThings Hub and the Homey Pro hub are in sync with each other when the surveillance mode changes. I also set them up within Homey so that I would have a visual of the current security mode. Otherwise, you need to open the Heimdall Surveillance tile to see the active security mode. Hope this helps?
Thanks AJ. I currently do not own any eufy products. But recently I was considering the eufy Security Video Doorbell E340. Have you any experience with this device? What are your thoughts?
@tikass9901 - I currently haven't any Eufy cameras to test but the dashboard does allow snapshot images from compatible cameras. Here is a discussion thread from the Homey Community forum regarding Eufy images on the dashboard: community.homey.app/t/pro-dashboard-smartdash-a-dashboard-for-homey/83385/666?u=bud_m
Heh Bud, awesome video. This advanced widget is awesome, cant wait to use it. Can this be used to hight light door open or closed using door sensors and this widget? Garage door open(red) garage door closed (green) Another thing is there a feature on homey that ties into solar and battery to give easy to see widgets? Battery 🔋 and power in colourful widgets?
Yes, using it to identify the status of a garage door would be a useful application. Yes it is doable using a contact or tilt sensor as a trigger. Regarding using Homey to monitor solar energy production, you need an integration with your solar inverter or a dedicated energy meter. Homey supports several brands and devices: A. Inverter Integrations (Direct Monitoring) - Fronius (Official Homey app for Fronius inverters) - GoodWe (Community-developed app for GoodWe inverters) - SolarEdge (Integrates via SolarEdge API) - Enphase (Envoy Gateway) (Monitors panel-level production) - SMA Solar (Supported via third-party Homey apps) - Hoymiles (Some models supported via API or Home Assistant bridge) If your inverter isn't natively supported, you can often track production through Home Assistant (HA) → Homey integration or use third-party API integrations. B. Energy Meters for Solar Production If your inverter doesn’t have a Homey integration, an external meter can track solar generation: - Shelly EM or Shelly 3EM (Wi-Fi, clamps on solar lines) - Aeotec Home Energy Meter (HEM) Gen5/Gen7 (Z-Wave, clamps on solar AC output) - Qubino Smart Meter (Z-Wave, DIN rail-mounted) - P1 Smart Meter (for Dutch households) These meters allow Homey to visualize real-time solar generation in Homey Energy.
If you have a home battery system (like Tesla Powerwall or a hybrid inverter with battery storage), Homey can track charge/discharge levels if the system is supported. Battery systems with direct Homey support include: - Tesla Powerwall (Community-developed API integration) - Fronius GEN24 Hybrid (Tracks battery storage via Homey app) - GoodWe Hybrid Inverters (API integration available) - Enphase IQ Battery (Via Enphase monitoring)
@@BudsSmartHome I'm currently getting the Alpha inverter and battery installed and there is a community app for this but doesn't show any widgets. It just shows flows. I assume that if there was some form of app on the homey site that it is then supported with other monitoring features?
Any Homey compatible smart device that could be tied into your Alpha inverter to track energy storage or consumption can be used to monitor your system. The are widgets to track in real time like the DataVista widget, homey.app/en-us/app/nl.erikvl87.datavista/DataVista/ It allows you to tie gauges to your devices. You can also generate visual graphs showing energy production or consumption using the Homey app's "Insights" feature for any energy tracking smart device to report energy tracking or power usage by hour, day, week, month or year. If your battery system isn't directly supported, you can track charge and discharge rates using Shelly EM / 3EM (Clamps around battery output lines) Aeotec Home Energy Meter (HEM) (Tracks power flow between battery and home) Qubino Smart Meter (Z-Wave alternative)
Fantastic information. Have the widget, had no clue how to use it until now.
That’s awesome! I appreciate you taking the time to comment. It makes it all worthwhile.

Great video. Would be nice to to see how to add some of the Nest cams and smoke detectors to our dashboard.
Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll give that some thought.
cool video, i would like to use that .And could you connect and display eufy security on the dashboard?
There is a community app that supports Eufy security cameras, yes. Link here: homey.app/en-us/app/com.eufylife.security/Eufy-Security/
Just write in the Eufy community support. The owner is really helpful and responds to everyone. 👍
