    Very helpful! Have these costs changed much since you made this video? Thank you!

      It’s been a while since I was last in Medellín, but I’m hearing that prices have been steadily rising. I’ll be making my way back soon!

      I want to spend a few weeks, possibly months in Mexico. Seems like the cost of living there is higher than South American countries.

    Good info man! I wish I put more prices in my most recent video - of why you should move to Medellin - because the cost of living is definitely a huge reason!! Just subscribed man. Excited to follow your journey 💥

    Good information! How safe is Medellin now(06/23)?

      Thanks! I’m in Rio de Janeiro right now, but for the most part, my people in Medellín tell me not much has changed. Follow proper protocols and you will be fine. Don’t be flashy, guard your belongings, don’t leave your drink unattended, and get to know people before you invite them into your home.

    Awesome how do you find places to live in Colombia? Any advice?

    • @dcdevio
      @dcdevio  ปีที่แล้ว

      For long term rentals, walk around neighborhoods. You will see signs in windows for rent “arriendo” in just about every building. There are also websites to search. I’ll make a video about this. I use airbnb because it’s simple and quick. But it is relatively pricey.

    This is the most realistic cost of living in Medellin video that I've seen. Great tip on the streaming services, I cancelled my UK Spotify and resubscribed in Colombia, the cost went from £10 to £3 a month!
    With Claro, it's got even better now. I pay 30,000 pesos a month for 12Gb data :) Just a shame there is no 5G in Colombia but it does the job.

      Thank you and much appreciated! Glad to hear you were able to save money on that streaming subscription.

    800 USD would be higher end in Medellin? I saw a few in Laureles for 600-650. How is the inflation?

    • @dcdevio
      @dcdevio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      800 USD would be comfortable, upscale. Really high end is going to run you more than that. But outside of Poblado, you can live better for less. Sabaneta has real nice apartments for less.

    Spot on with all your info. I spent November in Colombia. It took a while to figure things out. Luckily my girlfriend is from Barranquilla and walked me through everything.

    Very helpful as we are headed there next weekend. Can you tell me if you preferred a particular ATM for withdrawing cash and which Claro store you went to? Thanks again.

    • @dcdevio
      @dcdevio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope you’re enjoying your time. I usually use BancoColombia atms. I buy the sim card from any little shop. They are sold all over. Most places activate them right there. Then to refill, I just go to a pharmacy. I only had to go to a claro store once, when for some reason my phone was blocked from the network. In that case, go to one of the big shopping malls in poblado like Santa Fe. All the big malls have Claro stores.

      I like to use olive oil in the oven or on salads, but it doesn't play nice with heat on the stove top.

      I’ve seen airbnb prices rise, but living in Medellin is still more affordable than living in the United States. Electronics are the exception.

      We live just outside of Medellin. It’s half and sometimes even less then in the city especially for housing. Most expats only live in two locations.
