      Studies on canine intelligence have concluded that most dogs are as intelligent as two year old humans. Bunny is an exceptionally intelligent breed, so she might be as clever as a three or four year old.
      Lowkey, Bunny is confirming what scientists had suspected for a while about dogs having similar questions to preschoolers.

      @@elliot-sowdon I have read that shepherding breeds understand as much as 4 yo's. Some real working animals might have vocabularies of up to 400 words.
      I have had 4 Aussies in my adult life (serial dog partner) and can attest to pretty amazing things, but these buttons are incredible. My girl Blue is the smartest of the 4. She is very vocal with a plethora of whiny grunty things that I know is her way of modeling human speech. I just found these button vids on YT and am in awe, yet totally unsurprised. At first I thought I would surely need to get some (even though she is not a young pup of 6 years). Then I started thinking that I am just not sure if that would be a good thing. I have a feeling she would be Chatty Kathie and I would never have any peace!!!! 🤣🐶

      @@elliot-sowdon I think dog intelligence is relative to their life experience and age just as a human. A 2 year old dog seems more intelligent and logical that a 2 year old human; same goes for other ages. They seem to learn faster and have alot of emotional intelligence as well. The human ego is sensitive but to be honest though yes we are unique in certain ways...were not as intelligent and uniquely "deep" as a species as wed like think.

    • @soulgarden1111
      @soulgarden1111 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont think the breed is that important; if you raise a dog speaking full sentences to them they learn to understand at not even a slower rate than humans do. Ofcourse what youre saying needs to be explained with real life examples just the same

      @elliot-sowdon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@soulgarden1111
      I get that, but what you have to remember is that comparing human intelligence to canine intelligence is like comparing apples to oranges.
      Our brains are fundamentally different, and prior to using speaking buttons, we couldn’t ask them what they actually thought.
      One way to test the intelligence of a being who cannot fully communicate with you is to give them a puzzle to solve.
      Among dogs, the best puzzle solvers tend to be breeds who have been bred to preform complex unwolflike tasks. Herding dogs solve the puzzle of herding all the time so they test higher than many of their peers.
      Children are very curious and surprisingly creative, so they also test very well with puzzles . (At least compared to animals without thumbs)
      So a two year old dog can be easily compared to a two year old human on one metric and I was half joking that they are alike on the rest as well.

      This is very accurate! I had a pup that would get SO OFFENDED if I did not let them come to poop with me -and then I realized that they were trying to bond because I am always with them when they poop! They were trying to speak their "human's love language" and be supportive lol She would get jealous when the baby was in the restroom with me or if I was changing diapers and didnt want her to watch haha There is also the fact that dogs are very social about rear-ends/scents/marking territory, etc.

    • @melodymay4888
      @melodymay4888 3 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      @@yep.4635 oh so this is actually a thing! Dogs naturally protect each other while pooping and so they expect humans to protect them while they poop. That’s why they look at you or want you to come with. Pooping is a very vulnerable state for them so they look to humans for protection. Because of this when we use the bathroom our dogs want to protect us because they think we are vulnerable and need someone to protect us

      That's how most of these words work, it seems so far at least; taking things that dogs can already communicate readily with us ie scratching at the door to go out, barking if they hear strangers, and diverting that into these buttons. Certain buttons in a certain order get more of a response from her owners than other buttons, so these are naturally reinforced... over the past few days it is likely bunny has simply chosen to replace an older button with a newer button because of this effect. Unfortunately cognitive bias is very hard for an owner to rule out.

    Fascinating how, like apes trained to communicate, she invents terms. Like “ouch stranger” for “splinter" (i.e. invasive), and here “poop play” for “fart" (i.e. not real). You can see their thought process. Just awesome.

    Bunny could think that “play” means “fake“ which is technically the case because when dogs play they are sparing or fake fighting. So for her “play“ could mean a fake version or a mock version. So farting is a “mock” pooping - it smells the same but nothing actually comes out - and dogs aren’t really aware of gas - so it’s a way for her to say fake poop. Poo play.

  • @LostJedi26

    This is hilarious and adorable and precious!
    I would love to get these for my dog. Wonder if I could get her to use them...
    I'm blind, as is my boyfriend, so doing any kind of emotion and body language connections would be practically impossible, but there are all sorts of things my dog knows, and I know she knows them. My mom visited not long ago, and I had her watch me ask my dog if she was hungry. My dog looked at her food bowl. She knows exactly what to associate with that word! xD

  • @QiotiCoyote

    I really wonder how she game up with poop play or play poop when it comes to describing possibly a fart
    all I can think of is play as playing a sound, but then she would use sound
    play I assume means throwing the ball or tug or running around.
    maybe bunny is able to form different definitions based on context, but for the same word. Like play meaning fun and producing a sound
    Maybe she's heard you say play in a different context like that
    or maybe play to her isnt by our definition which is to have fun, but to wear ones self out. to exercise. to release tension in a way
    if she does it enough to where you can confirm that she means fart, maybe ask her to elaborate as in "hmmm?". and maybe she will give you different words

    • @MazerTime
      @MazerTime 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      What i assumed that play mean pretend. Play catch is pretebd you hunt. play with a rope is pretend you fight. Play poop is... pretend to poop by pushing air out (?)

      I was wondering whether Bunny may be associating laughter with “play”. Maybe when they play with her they laugh and giggle. So if they laugh/giggle when she toots then Bunny may be making that connection? Just a thought.

      Hahaha she really needs a fart button because it's such a gray area. It makes me wonder if dogs have a sense of humor and if that sense of humor may even be unique to each dog. I think it would be hard unless you caught the dog farting immediately or had to fart by example.
