- This is a short how to video on removing the motor and transmission from a Nissan 300zx non turbo 5-speed (1990-1996).
I am, by no means, an expert! This is simply how I removed the motor!

For anyone watching, save yourself some time and money and don't mess with the ac. Unbolt the compressor and leave it in the bay. No need to drain the refrigerant and refill! 😉

Been there 4 times over 20 years. Not for blown motors, well one was but ya. Much easier to pull with tranny out. I like to pull the plenum to with my picker works well.
A lot of people thought this was my car because of the custom headlight design.

Do you have any good reference for where harness connections go. I’ve had mine apart for ever and am trying to put it back together however all the connections are very tricky

James Mata yes, just have to swap out the flywheel and clutch for the torque converter.
you didnt show us how to wrap the chains around the plenum :( to pull motor
I figured that was pretty straight forward. Just loop them under. You can use chain, straps, seat belts, or an engine load leveler.

roughly the same process for the TT yeah? i got a japanese model 1989 z32 TT and want to pull its guts out for a quick overhaul after the last owner clapped it a bit.
A lot more to disconnect on a TT.
TT sucks. Currently in the middle of it. Unfortunately my midpipes need to be cut close to the flange, as all the downpipe bolts are seized. Headache and a half, just to find a nasty -9 boost leak near my turbo manifold.
My fuel pressure just had air????

dont need special tools?....yeah how about you remove that EGR valve with those basic hand tools.
That’s not what the video covered. To remove the motor; no, you don’t need special tools.
