I love this. The sacrifice of you put on the fursuit are incredible, I guess if I make one but I don’t think really, but I love your tutorial videos. Have a nice day 😁
Convex vs Concave cutting breakdown just changed my whole life. Thank you for addressing that so specially and clearly you are a brilliant tutorial maker.
I've seen some people cover where they're taping with cling wrap first so there's less of a chance to damage the foam! Plus when they take it off it's already non-sticky.
idk if this question really belongs *here,* but it's something I've been wondering anyway: how do you make sure your fursuit heads aren't face-heavy? I'm going to make my own eventually, but I'm scared that it'll be heavier in front than in back and go tipping forward and ruining the look.
I find the heads sit on the shoulders comfortably enough for that not to be an issue, and you can move the ears a bit further back as a counterweight too!
OMG I'm a Japanese who wanna make my fursuit next year, I'm very surprised to know how to decide separate parts or dart parts……. I wanted to learn this earlier. Skye-san very thanks!!
When your making a fursuit when your young, it’s good not to make it too small or it will become too small when you do grow. I know this comment probably isn’t very helpful know that you said that 2 months ago, but if you decide to make another one just a top😅
This is great! I'll definitely use these videos to help when I make mine. Just wondering though, where did you get your dummy head? I can't seem to find one that's very good so far
im planning to start a headbase tomorrow and am learning what i can do differently than the first time i tried to make one last year; patterning scares me the most because i tried that once and all the pieces ended up too small. i don't think i added enough seam allowance so hopefully i can do better this time :3
I’m so excited, Sky! I’ve always watched your tutorials for fun but today is the day I actually use them to make my first fursuit! Big moment! I’m nervous but it’s ok, I can try again and improve. Thanks so much for teaching us all how to do this!❤ -Loki
I’ve been considering making a fursuit head of my own, or possibly modifying a foam base to my needs. I want to enter fursuit dance competitions with my best friend, but neither of us can afford a suit at this point in our young adult lives. Wish us luck if you see this? Lol.
My plan is instead of lining, I’m gonna get two balaclavas and glue one into the suit, and wear the other. Would that work? I’m sorry I’m just lazy af and lining is confusing to me
In the first video it says to cut a rectangle of 24.5 by 7 inches. Does that work for any size of person head? And also are you able to use other kinds of glue and not a hot glue gun?
thanks so much your videos all ways help soon i am going to make one i am young and it helps so much i love your yt!😊this helps so much i am going to use ALL of this in my fursuit
I will be totally honest, this step is the step that hardcore stonewalled me and I'm not trying to say its something wrong eith the video as other videos didn't help. I stalled out at this step for 6-7 hours and abandoned my project. I just cannot comprehend this at all.
I'm trying to order some premade eye mesh and the product has diameters for how big you want them, would it be better to get 30mm or 55mm for a project like this?
Awesome video! I was wondering though how you'd pattern a head made out of expanding foam? Where they have no back. I can't find any tutorials for it :')
what i did was cut a thick strip to hold the back of my head and another to go over the top and this works pretty good. i did notice this made it a bit difficult to pattern the empty spaces.
Hey skye! I needed to ask-, how big are the eyes (measurement wise)? I want to measure mine out so they will fit with your headbase pattern but I’m unsure what size I have to make them, Thanks! :)
Hello Skye! I have a question. Is lining your head a necessity or is it optional? I've been struggling with it and it's not working out for me so just a question
Optional, but wear a balaclava underneath, especially if it’s not lined cos you don’t want sweat damaging the foam over time, and always clean after wearing since there will be no lining
I don't know exactly what Skye uses but from the tutorials I've seen you can make them from plastic or craft foam though I've also seen people 3d print them
How do you pattern the head with tight curves as the ears on my suit i am planning to make have lots of tight curves and the tape doesn’t really stick well or go in the curve
Hello! A small question from a junior furry, does the tape not stick to the foam and damage it? And if it does what are some things that I can do to stop that from happening? :D
I've never worked with eva foam so how careful should I be when removing the tape with the exacto knife? You make it look so easy but im not sure what to expect.
Hecc, tried this and there wasn't enough allowance around the neck to allow the base to still fit over the fattest part of the head, even with fabric around the neck of the mannequin. Need to figure something out so there is enough allowance for the neck liner.
Just out of curiosity, can you take the same duck taped part used to make the lining for the neck/shoulder part, and use it to make the fur for overtop of it instead of having to duck tape it a second time? 🤔
hey sky im not sure if reply to comments but if you do some of your beginner videos are a lil bit aged so i was wonder no what would you rccomend heads to be sold for that are decent
This is probably a stupid question but if someone sees this and knows the answer please, please tell me! When cutting darts and you trace it onto your fabric so you mark the darts into the fabric and then resend them together, or when tracing you just go over them as if they aren't there? This is really confusing me...
I also deal with this, but I just cover the foam so that I can't feel it completely, I just use lyrca on the inside of the head so that no foam is exposed, for the making of the base your kinda fucked there sorry but maybe gloves would work for when working on the head
Hey, I’m just wondering how the tape works with not just staying stuck on the foam? I feel like it might just rip the foam I use when I peel it off. Thanks!

I ended up being able to add the eyes! They were 3D, I was having a little trouble because the fur had holes where the eyes were and it wasn’t enough fur, but I was able to repattern and fur the head after I put the eyes in cos it was too difficult the other way😂 thank you for responding though

Umm so would it be easier to cover the head with cling film if your taping it or do you find it not to help much?
hello :3 how much thme does it take to do that? :3
Would it be possible to just put a balaclava on the mannequin head, then glue that to the base and cut out holes for the eyes and mouth?
What materials should you never use to line the head?
Does the duck tape only work with a specific foam? When i tried it, it ripped my foam off

Sometimes duct tape is weak enough that it comes off with ease, or you can Saran Wrap first then tape, really depends on the stickiness of the tape
