I still remember when My dad came home when the original MW2 hardened edition steel book edition that came with the art booklet and COD classic code and acted as if they were sold out then pulled it from behind his back, was a surprise too, all our friends had it for weeks then we finally got it, 2009 was a good time for us, till it all went downhill later that year, now trying to get my dad sober and move in with me to get him back on his feet. didn't even think this was a thing anymore. been to many call of duty midnight releases and it was always a great atmosphere. the good old days when you could stick the disc in and wait 20 mins and be online with your friends before 1am, the appeal isn't the same anymore with the download sizes and i would be fast asleep by the time the game was ready to play 🤣🤣
Been a while since i've seen an actual midnight release for a game. Every now and then i check the old Halo 3 midnight release videos on YT, truly a blast from the past. Even if midnight releases for games are not what they used to be anymore, we'll still have packed midnight releases every new console gen.
Cool to see people doing midnight releases still. I remember the 360 and ps3 days, those releases would get like 50-100 people was insane. Cool video 😊

Oh man does this bring me back. I recall year after year lining up in the mall waiting for a halo or cod to drop. Would go home and pull an all nighter since it was always at midnight, those were good days.

Man I used to love going to GameStop when I was young, only now I've realized how much a sham it was to trade in your games for pennies on the dollar haha but I would always go in there with a stack of my games just to get one of the new/latest titles that just released. This seriously will be history one day. I still remember renting movies and getting games from BlockBuster and Movie Gallery too!
I remember when mw3 came my middle school year. The traffic was literally 2 miles long for that game and the line itself was over half a mile long. First and last time ive ever seen something like that ever

Here in the uk, you get it for pre-ordering. I don’t know if they do midnight releases here, but that’s one thing I envy america for. I just wish I could be there for GTA 6 midnight release, that’s one thing I wish to happen.

This is why it makes me so sad all the GameStop’s in my area are gone . I was always a physical copy guy. Still am , but now I just have to wait for Best Buy to open the next morning . And it’s never hyped up there lol
We are physical copy all the way! Digital is a great option for those who can't make it to a store, or don't want to bother with lines, but regardless of install data the physical copy gives you something to collect, display, or even trade/sell later on if you choose to do so.

Tbh nowadays it’s just easier to get the game digitally downloaded. Midnight releases aren’t the same no more, but definitely like the case tho. Just think it’s a waste of time driving for a game now.
Just a few hours before the release our local store gives everyone a special receipt with a sticker to secure each person's place in line. Not exactly a requirement but just helps the line move quickly.
midnight releases are such fun, Retail disc is not dead by any means. You purchase something you can actually own and take home and can even use on another account if u ever decide to change. Also buy and sell second hand.
These are definitely some of the reasons we prefer the physical discs still. It’s great that people have the option to go digital if convenience is important, but there are pros and cons either way. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and thanks for watching!

Remember the days where I would wait in line. Like GTA 4, Madden, COD,etc. It was a lot of fun back then, but haven't done it in years. Especially when you have to download the entire game even with a disc these days. Digital is just easier at this point. But I definitely do miss the old days for sure. Met a lot of cool people on those lines that enjoyed video games like myself.
Definitely easier to pre-install from home, and it's a great option if going to the store is a hassle. However, collectors out there still love to grab the physical version and any bonus goodies to put on the game shelf!

Oh damn, the location where I went to didn’t have Ghost as an option for the poster. We had to pick from Price, Gaz, and Alejandro. And we also got a nylon bucket hat which was pretty neat

This is the reason that always pre order the CoD's in the digital store i pre install it and there you go 😅. The last time i did this was for MW2 for the Xbox 360 in 2009 it was great with a group of buddy's at that time but now when i get older, i don't have it in me anymore haha! 😅😁

@@B_HarTz Midnight releases where fun when i was younger we had a whole group of people (buddy's) we took some chairs in the car some snacks couple of beers, good old day's haha 🍻. Now i'm 35 and when you get older it goes away you know at least for me than but i have to admit that i liked it and it was great time man, no hard feelings btw 👌. But i don't like this CoD for the first time the gameplay is slow dry and stiff as hell and i tought vanguard was bad but that CoD played way smoother and faster than this one! The graphics are way better on MW2 now especially with dolby vision on my Xbox series X no doubt about it but that's it in my opinion i expected to much even MW from 2019 played way faster and smoother or is it just me i don't know 😅
I didn't pre-order the game so I don't know how my local GameStop was, but about 5 years ago there would be a 15-20 minute wait to get in for any game that was coming out that night. But know, there's no line, everyone just waits inside, moping around, waiting for the clock to hit 9 pm PST / 12 am EST and get in line (in store) to get the game. Games like Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga there was about 5 people (including me) waiting for the game, and MLB The Show 22 I was the only one there and there was only 7 games on the counter. After watching your video, I have a small ounce of regret for not pre-ordering the game, but it is what it is. I'll for sure pre-order the next Call of Duty or highly anticipated game to come out that I am interested in playing just to see if there is a line of people waiting like there used to be only a few years ago.

I’m enjoying MW2 so far, I’m with you man nothing like taking the plastic of the game. I prefer physical but this release shows us those time may soon be gone 😢. Only 72 mb on disc I still got the Cross Gen physical version cuz I own PS4 and Ps5. The game is 🔥 can’t wait till next week will get GOW Ragnarok PS5 physical 👊🏻.

I’m surprised they still do midnight launch for software with large digital market share (hardware is another story)….On maybe an off note, I remember GameStop having The Godfather game behind counter day before launch in 2006. Would not sell to me, otherwise would be like a $10K fine.
It's definitely something that can be debated, whether digitally downloading is superior to physical copies. We think as long as physical and digital copies cost the same amount, releases like this will continue. Some people still love to put a case on their game shelf even if the whole game file isn't on it. Releasing games early is definitely a risk with physical copies. Recently, a retailer sold copies of the new God of War: Ragnarok and are facing serious fines.
Thanks for the feedback! Overall we’re loving the game even though we felt the campaign was a bit short, and we’re hoping to get more multiplayer maps. The multiplayer gameplay though has been really fun even though we’re not great at it 😂
