Could you make a kind of timelapse step by step video of you doing your battlegrounds? Start out with 0 battlegrounds, show us how many days you wait, how many you then decide to kill/weaken and then how long you wait again.. If you get what I'm saying :)
I currently don't play the game anymore, however it should be around 3 days without hitting BG's that you "max out". You don't get more positions than you normally would, however every new position you get is guaranteed to be a higher level assuming you only hit your quest position every time.
I no longer play, and I unfortunately never got around to calculating a good average for defensive positions. They're much easier to guess though, since you can send 1 or 2 units and see how many more you have to kill to complete it. There's also a chart floating around on Facebook that gives you a rough estimate of the experience you should receive from "x" level battlegrounds

are you still in touch with this? You mention level 39 ^ 3.4 for attack oracles, what is it for defend oracles?
