This song captures perfectly the feeling of nostalgia for me, that ache in your heart for a place that no longer exist. For me, 1982 Delta Colorado, Friday night, off work from Terrell's Restaurant, cruising Main Street, house parties later, I was 19, young and free and i didn't even know it. Memories lost and forgotten like tears in the rain.
Look up the meaning of the Portuguese word "Saudade". There is no English translation of saudade, very roughly, a deep, aching longing or yearning for someone or something in the past that you hope returns but in the very back of your mind you know it's unlikely or impossible.
Chris that was beautiful just reading your comment took me back, and while listening to this omg just wake me up when i'm done replaying this 10 times lol♡♡♡♡. Can we all get together and go back there😢😭
The day my mother passed away, I heard this song for the first time. She struggled for so long. But I know that, even though she moved on, this song was the epitome of how she felt about staying with me as long as she could. This song is as beautiful as she was.
Buffy, being 16 in the 90s....the dreams I had. I never appreciated those years, but something has to be said for the tears and the tiredness of life all before it really began. Now I am older, with teenagers of my own. I wish more than anything that they savor every second...being an adult can be so unkind...so harsh. This song is a painful reminder of youth.
Oh my gosh is it ever a painful reminder of youth 😩 how good we had it being a teen in the 90’s and didn’t even realize it and thought we were going to be young forever 😩
Harriet Wheeler's voice sounds angelic to me. I've never heard any voice that affects me like hers does. I'm so thankful for discovering The Sundays. Now my daughters love them. Makes my heart swell with love...😊
Came here after watching Fear. This puts you in the feels, wow. Makes me a little sad, missing the good ole days. But so thankful for them at the same time.
The 90’s was just simply amazing! I was in my 20’s and experienced the rollercoaster of music, love, heartache, dance, freedom, travel and exquisite joy! The BEST decade to be alive! Such beautiful music with the flood gates of memories!! This song is magical!
I'm a Stones fan, but every once in a while, a cover (like Joe Cocker's version of "A Little Help From My Friends") is just absolutely transcendent - the Sundays nailed this.
agreed 💯, Brian. it's extremely rare when someone can hold a candle to The Stones, but this version does. i grew up with 70's and 80's music, and personally speaking, i didn't care for the majority of 90's music too much, but this is gorgeous and ethereal. really captivating...
You nailed it. Exactly. Imagine thinking that you could take a Beatles or Rolling Stones classic and actually make it better. Joe C. and Harriett both said, "Hold my beer".
This is such a beautiful version of the song. Harriet’s voice is heavenly. Wish the Sundays were still active, I’d love to hear this live. I still play this on repeat.
I liked this ever since I saw that movie "Fear" waaay back in the day. It's kinda haunting, sexy & cool. Just a good rendition of Mick Jaggers' version. Thanks for posting.
Takes me right to the scene in Fear when they're on the roller coaster and, well...you know. If you don't, go watch it! BEST SONG EVER. PERIOD. "Let's do some living after we die"
Lmao me too. Saw it as a child. My sister and I used to put it on blast and rewind that part over and over again just to listen to this song. On replay. Good times!!
Oh gosh, I'm gonna cry. I've been looking for this song for like 2 years after hearing a snippet at the dentist's office, but I've never been able to find it or anyone who knew it! And now I've just stumbled upon it again and it's so beautiful aahhhhh
You know it is better when you want to hear a song you only caught part of somewhere, some place, and you search and dig and find it! Glad you found it. Rolling Stones has the original I think.

I see the two songs Wild Horses and Fade Into You matched/compared in a lot of comments and it's fair. To me, Wild Horses sounds like the beginning of something beautiful: it has hope and the promise of greatness and potential in love. Being with that someone now and in the next life even ("Let's do some living after we die"). It's about something real but intangible, that can't be broken. Fade Into You feels like the end of something that could've been beautiful but was torn apart; not an unrequited love, but of a deep and mutual love that could never be. Even in that ending we've accepted, the passion was never lost, just reflected on ("I think it's strange you never knew.") It's about two people who *need* to be, but never will be. They're both masterpieces and that's my perspective on it. Sorry for talking so much lol

Lyrics:
Childhood living
Is easy to do
The things you wanted
I bought them for you
Graceless lady
You know who I am
You know I can't let you
Slide through my hands
Wild horses
Couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses
Couldn't drag me away
I watched you suffer
A dull aching pain
Now you've decided
To show me the same
No sweeping exit
Or offstage lines
Could make me feel bitter
Or treat you unkind
Wild horses
Couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses
Couldn't drag me away
I know I've dreamed you
A sin and a lie
I have my freedom
But I don't have much time
Faith has been broken
Tears must be cried
Let's do some living
After we die
Wild horses
Couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses
We'll ride them some day
Wild horses
Couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses
We'll ride them some day
WOW!
This song just takes you on a rollercoaster ride.

Same for me. Promnight at Sunnydale high ❤
Her voice is magical. Like a stream flowing gently down a mountain side
The move? fear. The roller coaster. The fingers . The climax. That skeezy smirk over marky mark’s little punk face for a job well done! …. Classic .
Beautiful song !! She has such a beautiful voice !! This song is everything! heard this for the first time in movie fear with mark whalberg & Reese Witherspoon I love that movie !
Mark should’ve got an award for portraying a very sick psycho yet sexy too
Her voice is so pure.
Netflix show “Friends from College” brought me here...So beautiful! Verdict is out on the show but no matter what, it left me the gift of this sultry touching song! 💕
I forgot about this song and it unlocked memories and feelings. As well as a strong sense of the 90s and how badly I miss it.
Much better then the original. Her voice is hauntingly beautiful
