It makes sense that Sauron would personally make the nine rings for Men since they will result in the creation of his strongest and deadliest servants: the Nazgul!
it was never stated in tolkiens writing that any of the rings of power were, in the beginning, intended for a specific race. Sauron's target as Annatar were the elves, men and dwarves he didn't really consider. only after the elves rose against him and thwarted his plans did he wage war against them, reclaim some of the rings (the 9 and the 7) and distributed them to men and dwarves, as a kind of 'next best thing' ... this storyline is very far away from tolkien's original story, even though I like that they picked up the second age.
Celibrimbor wants the Power only to his kind. How scared and unaccepteful he is of a thought of power given to the humans! True arrogance of the elves.

Maybe someone else here can shed further light or, if necessary, correct me on this but this exchange gives the impression that Sauron truly desires to control men as opposed to having any long-term plan that would include orcs.
Yes. Sauron ideally wants to control the Free Peoples with the Rings rather than conquer them by force. The orcs are really just cannon fodder that he's forced to use because the Rings didn't work out as he intended.
@@filiperiksson3259 As I suspected. The orcs are a surviving legacy of Morgoth and while Sauron may have been his loyal lieutenant at one point, he now has his own agenda and doesn't need any vestige of his old master getting in the way.
Nice Lore break. Sauron used Celebrimbor to create all but the one ring because in Tolkiens magic system any magical item you make you put your own power into. Sauron wants to keep his own power for himself not give it away. The shows writers with this one scene prove they have zero clue what they are doing with both Sauron's character and the magic systems rules.
Have you watched the show? Celebrimbor makes all of them himself under Sauron’s guidance (who then intends to control the bearers himself). Sauron hasn’t forged the One Ring yet. There’s nothing “lore breaking” here.
Right, this scene is another one of Sauron's mind games of deception. Playing into Celebrimbor's pride to be the greatest magical craftsman. The fear that something Annatar could make could outshine his own work, makes him second guess his wise initial judgment. Clearly, Celebrimbor wasn't the only one fooled. This series has problems, but the writers did well with the Sauron-Celebrimbor relationship. Of course, it's always possible to do better.
They couldn't. They don't have the rights they need and yet they decided to make a show about the second age and chose the worst and most disrespectful writers ever. Believe it or not, I still enjoy watching the series for the sake of it being Middle-earth, the visuals and music. But I'm really annoyed by the bad dialogue, plot holes and uninteresting characters that I can't sympathize with.
@@redbarchetta8782 Tolkiens writing will always be superior to the writers of this show. They could have done a lot better but made a lot of poor choices.
I believe Cirdan is an exception because he is the oldest Elf in Middle-earth. I'm not sure about Celibrimbor though. He is also very old, but I don't think he is older than Galadriel or Elrond, for example. So yeah, interesting casting choice.
@sauronsring Yes, but they basically equal the status of a god and demigod. So in my opinion it makes even more sense that they look young. In addition, Sauron is of course a shapeshifter so his Annatar form is not real. But I think you mean his Mairon form in the prologue, which is also young.

Tolkien's version of events is much, much better. They probably should have just stuck with that...
