BET didn't like all that truth bring shared with the people.
Don't blame BET for not giving it more push. They gave her a show and I always seen promotion for this show, they even promoted it on comedy central. Black people need to be honest and just admit that we don't watch BET and that BET has no credibility. That is the reason I didn't watch it and I am sure that is the same reason you didn't watch it, because it was promoted to come on BET.
Kenyonn Jones a little backstory. I was a producer on The Truth With Jeff Johnson and we push together a thoughtful well-researched show that got cancelled. I personally think we were much more important to the the culture than 106 & Park. But of course....I am biased

It's a shame that we didn't support her show when her topics were intellectual. The sketch show is going to have higher viewership because the topics are BASIC (but very funny).
Because this was essentially The Daily Show on BET. I'm not downplaying the relevant talking points because she tackled shit that The Daily Show didn't but I never even knew she had this show until I saw a Black Lady Sketch Show clips on TH-cam......and only then did I start getting notifications for clips of this show. BET did shit to promote the Rundown and I hope in the end it hurts them because she's got shit to say....

I wish this show would have been better promoted. I literally did not hear about it until A Black Lady Sketch Show came out. I would have loved to watch and support this show too.

I realize that if you ask me whether Meryl Streep or Viola Davis can endure more pain, my brain will tell me Viola Davis because I've seen her characters go through more pain than Meryl Streep's characters. This misconception that blacks don't feel pain as much as anybody else will only increase their pain in the end.
Or get them hooked on Opiods. I'd rather be tough bump that pill mess.

To me that's just weird. I would have picked Meryl Streep, because I know she has biological children, and Viola Davis has one adopted child. Although of course I don't know their medical histories, so maybe my conclusion makes no sense. I'm not trying to dismiss Viola Davis in any way. But Idk, this was my first thought.

I went to a black dentist to get my wisdom teeth removed and he gave me a shot everyone I wiggled my fingers cause he was worried it would wear off. Went to an Indian/ white dentist to get braces, I kept complaining that one if the appliances was really hurting the back of my tounge, but they basically ignored me

I was wondering the same thing never showed up until now? I am beginning to suspect Facebook is in some shady shenanigans? A young lady over a month ago stated that Facebook is profiling black people with their comments regarding racism they call themselves policing us more then them. I broke my finger a few years ago, I was in the ER for over 9 hours in pain without so much as an aspirin, it was only when a WHITE woman got offended that they would not give me something for pain that i actually got something for the pain.

Got you beat. I had a broken wrist for two weeks before I was finally given a referral of an orthopedic who would see me without having insurance.
Yes ma'am, I know your pain. Sat in er for close to 6hours with a dislocated shoulder. No pain meds and muscles spasming trying to put the bone back in place. When I finally got back there this white b@#$% says, "Your a marine, you should be able to take this pain." Then instead of doing conscious sedation, she gives me a shot of demerol (which made me nauseous) and uses a sheet to put it back in place. Needless to say, if I knew I would not have gotten court martialed, my size 10s would have been in her chest 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬I ended having to have 2 surgeries cause that b@*&^% put it back in wrong AND I deal with nerve pain in that arm 15 years later. I KNOW y'all ain't lying. When I go to the doctor now if my pain level is a 3 I say 5-6 cause I know it will be downgraded to the rightful level of 3.

She kept going to the doctors and they told her nothing was there but they told her that what she was feeling something that was a part of her body wouldn’t properly checking to help her
So her boyfriend had to check for her

I read it in college about 10 years ago... I haven't looked at America the same since.
I read a large chunk of this book when it first came out. It helped me understand why my husband doesn't like going to the doctor, especially in America. It made me see gynecology from a new perspective, too. A very important book, buy it!
This prejudice is what kept us away from the opioid crisis. But, I think they may start to push those drugs our way.

Reminds me of that one episode on Greys anatomy when Dr bailey was having heart attack but the doctors couldn’t assess her appropriately!

A friend of mine who is white was treated for mild depression and given meds that helped,me on the other hand, I've been terribly treated for bipolar. It's amazingly disgusting

I've been talking about pain to my doctors since my cancer treatments 3 years ago. Two weeks ago I found out by chance that I was diagnosed with Scoliosis- my GP never told me ! Apparently, he entered in his records along the finding of "significant increase". I guess he thought I didn't need to know.

It first aired. As a sickle cell Warrior myself I’ve had to endure a lot from white doctors
& nurses not wanting to treat me with pain meds because I’m black. I lost a fellow warrior who went to the ER 3 times not feeling well & told them people it didn’t feel like her normal pain. 3x’s they turned her away & 3 days later she was dead & her twin boys found her in the bathroom. Her mother sued & won, but $$ won’t bring their loved one back. A cancer patient can get pain meds just by saying they have cancer. But a person with Sickle Cell have to jump through hoops to get a Dr. to prescribe pain meds, only to get turned away by pharmacist who thinks we’re either addicted or going to sell our pain meds. We’re in too much pain to sell that mess.😠😫

I've actually witnessed this happen to a relative of mine. The doctor refused to acknowledge they had fibromyalgia and wouldn't help with trying to get disability pay.
I believe this. Some people in the medical field do judge the way that a patient will heal based on the race of the patient. I once had a nurse try to withhold medication that could help regulate his breathing from my premature baby. This was in the NICU and the reason that she explained to me is that African American babies are stronger than other infants and he will be able to pull through with out it. I complained to her supervisor on that bs. Anyway he is 15 years old now and I still remember that conversation with that nurse like it just happened. I am glad that there is a light being shined on this subject.

I don’t even like asking doctors anything now. They don’t do anything half the time. It’s so messed up. It’s as if that mentality from slavery is still present. They used to say black peoples were subhuman. Just like they say about animals and how they would treat kids ages ago.

This I can attest to! When I had my first child I was only prescribed Morton for the pain , and then this one nurse came in with an unexpected tone and asked “your not on Percocet” so I basically was getting under treatment for the pain luckily thank god I had a smooth pregnancy and my pain level wasn’t so high after birth ❤️

I woke up in the middle of surgery once. I was still medicated so I couldn't scream like I wanted to. They drugged me a bit more and I was knocked out. Surgery went good.

I went to the e.r. twice in a weekend with back and neck pain. They gave me a pain pill and a valium and sent me home cause they couldn't find anything. That second visit I have to be physically wheeled into the e.r. because my pain was so bad I couldn't walk. Same shit, pain pill and anti inflammatory and sent me home. No MRI, no CT scan nothing. I was bed ridden for month following and found out I had to have a disc replacement, I was out of work for 3-4 months. I felt so frustrated and sad to say that I work at this facility also.
Technically, there is only one race and it's the "Human Race".

This is true. My appendix was on the verge of bursting three time and all three times I went to the hospital, they let me sit there in pain and endure it until I fell asleep and woke up and it subsided. The fourth time it happened, I went to a different hospital and they took it out. More black/Indian doctors there too, which is interesting. I told them about the previous three times and they wondered why it hadn’t been taken out before as it was abnormally enlarged.
What's crazy is I often wondered why my doctors turned me away when I told them I had extreme pain they'll say just take advil or something but that didn't work but wow
We did see Black Panther early and often, I saw it opening day and a week later .

This injustice is infuriating. I just mentioned to my dental hygienist that I was scared of getting my filling redone. The dentist then gave me numbing gel, injection AND laughing gas!! Pain is pain... humans with their assumptions and judgements are so disappointing...
