Actually it is proven that the old tanks from the 70's could blow up like that because of the materials that made up the tanks. The myth busters used modern versions of the tank which are made differently. The Jaws obsession did a podcast about it

1+2 is a great double feature!
4 suffers from only 2 kills (3 depending on the version of the movie #jakelives?) and the stupid telepathy connection. In the novelization, a vodoo priest, Michael has beef with, summons the shark - which by the way is the offspring of the 2nd shark who was pregnant in the novelization of the 2nd movie (both written by the same author Hank Searls) and gave birth before the electrocution.
3-D's problem are the bad special effects and the picture quality in general, due to the crew not really knowing the technology. But is is basically a riff on "What if there is a shark in the swimming pool?" The premise is great - the execution wasn't.
However - and this ist NOT a joke - the 3-D is awesome! I am absolutely serious about this review. My rankning 1, 2, 3, 4.

I believe the sound of the shark roaring is the same sound that the sinister truck makes while falling off a cliff in the lesser known Spielberg movie "Duel"... It is also the same sound the shark makes in the first film after it plummets to its watery grave having just been exploded by brody and elments of the same sound are also used in the iconic T-rex roar in the Jurassic Park films

    • @toddboughn5168

I feel that Jaws 2 is mainly responsible for the pattern of Hollywood making a sequel based upon a successful first movie.
It made back 10 times it's own budget and got played on cable television for years afterwards.
Aliens, Gremlins 2, Ghostbusters 2, Terminator 2, etc. all benefited, in part, from the financial success of Jaws 2.

I agree. I always found Jaws 3D to be the most boring movie in the whole franchise. I couldn’t tell you the name of one character. It doesn’t help that the effects and cinematography are B movie level and unworthy of the Jaws title. The 3D does not hold up either since it is so clearly gimmicky. Jaws The Revenge has a bad script, but it at least has decent practical effects and Michael Caine in a sizable role. I at least enjoyed that one as a kid, but I always found Jaws 3 boring

I’ll take Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D, and even Jaws The Revenge (and all their flaws) over all the endless, direct to video or SyFy Channel sharks movies with awful CGI effects and washed up actors no one cares about.
Saw Jaws The Revenge in the theater as a kid….and that opening scene with Sean getting attacked and killed was instant nightmare fuel before there was such a thing as nightmare fuel. That scene is brutal and traumatizing.
And that banana boat attack still holds up to this day….waaaaay better than most modern shark movies as far as I’m concerned!
Also…Tony, how you could not point out the worst aspect of the changed ending to Jaws The Revenge??? The fact that they shot the footage of the characters in a tank (with the water clearly slapping against the background that’s been painted to look like a sky and horizon)? The water even changes color from the bright, clear waters of the Bahamas to the dark color in the tank. 😂

  • @DarthCompton
    @DarthCompton ปีที่แล้ว +8

Honestly I really dig 2. I don't see it as remotely bad, just a step down from the masterpiece of the original. I like 3D...but because it's so ridiculous. Plus I liked the setting and several of the main characters (though I do think Quaid would've been better as a new character, rather than a Brody). 4 I'll still watch but it tries so hard to be serious, but is so ridiculous it just doesn't hold together, and I think that's why I prefer 3. 3 didn't feel like they're trying to be too serious. 4 tried, and the failure is even harder.

  • @madcapmakov2

the revenge is the worst, they tried with 3. some effects are terrible, but 4.. many scenes are insanely stupid. The attack on Sean, there's blood already in the water before the attack. The ending, has a miniature of the shark and boat, reuses the ending of jaws when the shark died. the best sequel is 2, well shot, fair effects, it's darker, sure, some characters are annoying. some scenes were cut too soon, but it works. That's a film rule, the first sequel in a franchise is generally the best as it;s the one that works. 3 determines where the franchise goes. so, you just need Jaws and Jaws 2. there was meant to be 2 sharks at first. there IS suspense in a few scenes. there's great scenes. Jaws 2, solid sequel. Opening, HELICOPTER scene, ski scene and boat scene, the body popping up from the water, it's just blue fish, Martin showing the photo to the committee. the whole cable junction scene and end. all memorable scenes. the lobster scene even. The lost world IS good, there's no bad, worse Jurassic film.

Jaws 2 is by far the superior sequel in the series. It is horribly underrated because it had to live up to the original (which is impossible). It has Roy Scheider, Murray Hamilton, Lorraine Gary and Jeffrey Kramer reprising their roles, and it has some well directed action sequences. The score was done by John Williams as well, and it definitely has a melancholic superiority over the original score in my opinion.

Two is just BORING BORING BORING. Most of the movie is spent on unlikeable teenagers you don't care about/ Its an especially boring movie if you have ever read the book, which depicts things like the water skier attack and the shark picture revelation ( in the book all clearly see a shark) as the exciting and scary moments they should have been. The water skier death is such a non event int the movie that I'm surprised they left it in.

Definitely not Jaws The Revenge. That movie is so bad that it overflow-errors into being great. It's like The Room. It's so fucking inept that you just laugh at how stupid it is.

It amazes me that even after 36 years they haven't made a sequel or a reboot of Jaws. Literally THE movie that created the Summer Blockbuster. Apparently the sequels were so god awful that no studio wants to touch the franchise. Not even my idea where a great white shark contracts rabies, but the shark doesn't die from it; it just becomes an ultra-violent killing machine, terrorizing a small quiet fishing town somewhere on the coast of Someplace, USA.
I've heard there's another shark movie that's pretty decent. Maybe the one with Ice Cube? IDK...I guess The Meg and its sequel are all we have to look forward to.

Great video! Just found your channel and subscribed!
Jaws was a movie that me and my father watched every single summer together . We live at the Cape so we fished together and would go crabbing and snorkeling. Anyway he passed away before my son was born. My son was born during the summer, I named him Brody because of the movie and my father. It sounds silly to most I’m sure but it means something to me.❤️
Halloween 2 is my favorite of all time . Thank you for letting us know that Michael is Jimmy from H2 . Me and my husband were just trying to figure out who he was . He kept saying it was Jason Patric which I knew wasn’t right.
Jake always died in my version. I recently saw him survive and was sooo confused.

Tony- I think you’re remembering a 1969 movie called “Hello Down There” about a scientist family that lives on the bottom of the seas with pet dolphins who fight sharks in one scene. It was on TV a lot when I was a kid, and I used to get these dolphins mixed up all the time too.

Apparently, It was on Imdb, Jaws The Revenge was originally supposed to be called Jaws'87. They had a new human antagonist Kyle Edwards who was going to be portrayed by Vincent D' Onofiro. He owned a Fishing Company and was going to capture Jaws and use him for profits. However He and his henchmen were going to kidnapped Ellen, Hoagie, Michael and Jake. Jaws would have killed Kyle's henchmen and Kyle himself and supposedly Jake too. Vincent D'Onofrio stated in an interview that he was attached to the project but later declined it due to his fear of Great White Sharks. Years later when he saw Jaws The Revenge on T.V. he regretted not being in it lol since he was a huge fan. Also his characteristics went to Vic Hoskins in Jurassic World.

No what you mean is, Jaws 2 - Exactly what Jaws would have been IF the shark had worked and there were no issues. People seem to forget that Jaws only turned out how it did because they had to come up with something because the shark didn't work most of the time.

It would be amazing to see Tony thrown threw a table 😂. In all seriousness though, I really do enjoy the reviews. Obviously 4 is the worst here. I could see 3 being argued as the worst but I don't think 2 is as bad as you said. It has been some time so maybe my memory is giving it a boost? I don't know, have a great week.😂

Tied between 3+4 but; without a doubt 3 I feel is worse. 4 is without a doubt THE worst but it’s humorously the worst which makes it a tad more entertaining
    2-solid if not dated
    3-bad
4-entreatingly entertaining despite its nonsensical nature

I have an issue with these Brody brothers. They are like 10 and 4 years old in the first movie 1975. Then they are appear to be 17 and 13 in the second movie 1978. Then they are 25 and 19in part three 1983. Then they are 30 and 21 in revenge 1987.

Jake isn’t doing the Jaws theme. The Jaws theme does not exist in their world. He’s imitating the sound of the heart monitor to scare Michael since they had recently tagged the shark.

25:00:sorry but Simon Charles pendered Mckorkindale who played the character Philip in Jaws 3 said in a TV interview that Jaws 3 was the biggest croc of s*it he'd ever had the misfortune to star in and was a blundering production embarrassment from the start, word has it that he resented just being there to be killed off with no depth being written for his character, others have stated that he thought his star status would award him not being chewed up by a shark in the first 20 minutes, tap Jaws 3/Simon mckorkindale in the You Tube search engine, you will probably come across the interview in question, this is You Tube right, you can find anything on here
