This is the result of having spineless senseless selfish crooks, who are doing the bidding of, uncle Sam & the global governance trifecta cartel (the IMF, World Bank & WTO).
Kimani Kuria I am sorry, what are talking about? You want to promote local production, really! You are the same goverment that over taxes all the main inputs, such as power, inport taxes on materials for this manufacturing, fuel costs etc! We have great geothermal electricity potential, why can you not invest in such industries?
I am compelled to invoke Isaiah 32:7-8 to the KK Government: "The scoundrel's (dishonest or unscrupulous) methods are wicked, he makes evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just. But the noble man makes noble plans, by noble deeds he stands." This government is wicked. I am ashamed i voted for wickedness. I apologize to Kenyans.
Isn't he the same guy who publicly said that if kenyans cannot pay the vehicle circulation tax then they should abandon their cars and even went ahead and used the express way as an illustration talking about not all kenyans use it even though its available to them??!
That was the arrogance, before they were shown that they actually don't have the power they assumed they have..... we refuse to fund Sudi's 20M harambee contributions
one cannot miss the point that all these are proposals while what will pass in the house is what was initially proposed. further more these few proposals that have caused public uproar are not the real deal.alot is hidden in plain sight....that is what will bite. God for all
He was asked if that was KK's position or the committee's position, and he said the latter. That is the issue Mbadi has with it. He would have let the secretary to KK PG to read as KK position.
Precisely! They’re solving the right problem with the wrong approach. You can’t promote local products by making imports expensive without considering quality, and factors of production locally.
Mbandi are you also reading my mind, Kuria is saying that someone came from london and gave them the best lecture ,which means the financial Bill is a product from a lecture hall, they copied and pasted it as it is 🤣🤣🤣
The most useless finance committee chair (Extended Producer Responsibility) can be handled by private sector efficiently and is alays part of circular supply chain/ which is none of govt affain. Bure kabisa. inform him to reach out to me for lessons
So you know locally manufactured is more expensive? Moreover with diapers its not about price. Infact quality diapers end up cheaper in the long run. you use fewer because of high absorbency. Moreover you dont have treat rushes on the baby.
After the Rushes we have medication, compounded skin & tissue medication which is an extra fund, then time wasted for treatments, compounded with pain, trauma punishment by government autocracy, more taxes etc etc etc.... Bure Kabisa.- it's unfortunate & very sad!!
Kimani is smart, but in his capacity he operates on "Power from Above" mode.I understand at 35yrs he's undertaking his PhD in Economics. Should he evade sycophancy of typical politicians he's a rich asset of this country.
Where do Kenyans get their leaders? This man is such a cheerleader of Ruto that it's sad. How is this man a qualified accountant (CPA Kenya) Bure kabisa... Cost of doing business in Kenya is too high.
That is true becouse they can change it before it is tabled n diacussed in the house while gullible citizens cheer imagining KK is heeding to their needs
How can you say that by importing finished products we are exporting jobs and risking our currency stability, yet on the same hand increase cost of production and doing business, making manufacturers and industries flee? While also impoverishing the citizens to little or no disposable income to spend on the said goods?
Kikuyus greediness will never make them reason like wise people. Politicizing everything even a simple question will not change a fact. Truth will set you free
Sam you had a great panel. Hon Kimani & Hon Mbadi, really a good debate. I have understood alot, I wish you could have done this earlier for Kenyans. Brilliant 👏🏾 gentlemen.
Supports John mbadi point of view.the finance bill needs to be carefully revised and reviewed!it's immature and requires extensive debate from every Kenyan that it's gonna impact .
Sam Kituku, Kimani Kuria is not always on Citizen TV to correct your False information daily... continue feeding Kenyans with incorrect information to be incited
Tariffs do not build an economy!! You have to create an environment that allows local manufacturers to build competitive products based on quality and price. It is either ignorant or stupid to rely on market protection in a capitalist economy. Go home bwana!
Kimani kuria making sense, these are the publicities lacking out there for public consumption. media, opposition and bloggers are twisting and painting alot of wrong things out there. opposition should be served with correct right of replies. good work young kimani kuria
John mbudi is being petty, why not challenge the policy than keep asking where the policy came from. If the policy is not good point to it's weaknesses not just keep asking how it came from.
Kimani Kuria, hope you understand protectionist principle. It can lead to a disadvantageous position for Kenya, if a country whose trade is affected by the decision decide to protect their industries from Kenyan exports, what happens to the excess production.
It is actually sad that Kuria Kimani, as chairman of the Finance and Planning committee, does not seem to know protectionism will not make locally manufactured products competitive. Or understand motor vehicle tax came from
I love this anchor, very diligent, brilliant, & he asked the right question but more importantly, he didn't let the man off the hook. I think, he's not the right person to be explaining these taxes. He's not making any sense, particularly on the Eco tax..
Sanitary towels are not bread or soap. Some people even developed allergies because of the material used. We are careful as women to stick to known and proven brands. So let's not talk as if women just look for the cheapest Sanitary towels.
Bro, we don't leave for ever. You have to create room for invocation and new leaders .The guy is right that any old person would like to use everlady battery which was the the battery we had sometime back but we don't need it anymore that was back then. We can't be thinking backwards
Have they incentivized the local manufacturers? NO. Apart from sanitary pads and diapers, other products like mobile phones, dry cells and tyres for locomotives? Where are the local brands for these? Where are incentives for local production for these before imposing eco levy for these? What is the policy objective for these levies? More levies which end up getting looted or environment?
If you want to deal with the ecological impact of imported products, then you may place a levy on such products as long as the Kenya govt.will then take care of any negative impact.
for me this is where the conversation should be heading so that we push the government to do it now that we have paid for the service. but shallow minds like mbadi who should be representing the people is busy pushing ageints incetifying locally manufactured good!
The bad decisions that have led to our local products not being competitive in the market include the meddling with the forces of production that have seen the price of electricity for example increase astronomically over the last few years making electric labor and thus the end product expensive. In agriculture, the cost of farm inputs is ridiculous compared to other neighboring countries. Cost of transport from farm to market is another thing, expensive fuel = expensive transport = expensive groceries making imports cheaper! The role of the government is to improve infrastructure that lowers costs of production! With that done, manufacturers will thrive = more profits = more jobs = more salaried people = more income and corporate tax collected.
This guy hasn't done his homework.the cost of importing/Exporting goods and manufacturing is much cheaper in Most of our neighbors i.e Uganda and Tanzania.the reason being in necessary over taxation and bureaucracy in our country kenya
weak men create hard times!
This is shocking from KK...they don't even understand what they are proposing.
This is the result of having spineless senseless selfish crooks, who are doing the bidding of, uncle Sam & the global governance trifecta cartel (the IMF, World Bank & WTO).
Propose stupidity then bow to public pressure to claim credit- bure kabisa
This right here is the winning comment!!
The problem is most taxes ends up in osca sudis pocket
Absolutely
Eg the restoration fund emanating from the eco system,5 billion, how do you expect ordinary mwananchi to follow this? That's an avenue where kk eats
That is really true, too bad because the money goes to the pockets of a few individuals
Pads we don't consider the cheaper ones quality is very important & that's why we boycotted Always!!!
Most people consider price. The financially able consider quality. But they all serve the same purpose

True this Kuria guy does not understand basics of economics.
I can’t understand a damn thing this chairman is trying to explain. Incompetence I agree with mbadi on this
We'll be outside this whole week.... we've seen nothing on data protection...nothing on expenditure of both high offices ..... nothing on debt audit
Protectionism can also lead to consumption of low quality highly priced local products and deny Kenyans the freedom of choice and variety.
There is a difference between protectionism and disadvantaging locally made goods
@@antonymwangi4986 What's the difference?
