There actually weren't as many as I was expecting when I rode it. It's only a handful of miles, after all. I think the horn show in the video may have partially been for the cameras. ;)
That's Stadler Flirt, we have a lot of them in Poland and they are very well designed and built. They come in both commute and long distance configurations. I love the first class on the long distance version, I just sit at a table with some work to be done and enjoy the ride. Flirts are very reliable, comfy, with smooth rolling bogies and easy acess for those with special needs. Greetings from Europe!
Really great how Metrolink is expanding service, especially considering the relatively low population of Redlands compared to something like Riverside.
Yeah, I railfan at the DFW Area and the only difference between these commuter lines is the range, speed, and model. Arrow is a 102 Stadler flirt, TEXRail is 103. The bell on TEXRail is now an E-bell and twice as fast as it used to be, TEXRail operates there Stadler Flirts at 70MPH, I think arrow is below that MPH.
Nice footage, not a fan of the horn though. I feel this line should've been a simple extension of the San Bernadino Line instead of a whole separate route that requires a transfer. Although I hear Metrolink is looking into more Redlands to LAUPT direct service soon.
I'm so glad these lightweight Commuter Trains are coming to the US ,great video as always! I recommend the SMART Commuter Train in the North Bay Area for a future video
Nice video Mike! When I first saw posts of the Arrow route for SoCal, it didn’t seem really Metrolink like to me from the colors and the amount of time for the journey in both directions, but it does seem like an interesting thing for SoCal here. I do know that Amtrak plans to get them for the San Joaquins although I’m not really gonna be impressed. I agree with what they said on the emissions but it doesn’t seem like enough to hold more passengers and it may not add up to the 28-axle count because of the crossing in Fresno having problems detecting the San Joaquins. AmCal does seem like it needs new doubledecker coaches though, maybe Alstom could make something even for some other state sponsored services. MU’s from other manufacturers like Siemens and Alstom might be nice too.
The Arrow was suppose to be run by Omnitrans (local bus transit company) hence the arrow's livelry. County Transit ended up selecting Metrolink as the operator before service started. On a side note, the Arrow was supposed to be light rail, but SB county had to go the DMU route as it was more financially feasible.
I like that there are more commuter lines using European-style DMUs. I also like that these have a bell like some light rail cars do instead of a standard Graham-White e bell
Great video and I haven't have the time to go out to San Bernardino go and check out the new train sets on my work schedules during the weekday and I live in Los Angeles it kind of makes it impossible to too bad they don't run too are new arrow train doesn't run on the weekends maybe one day Metrolink will do that
I know this is unlikely but I really wish they extend the arrow service to Riverside. It would be so helpful to tie together all of the various metrolink lines on the east side of the system.
It's nice to see there are many other states using Stadler flirts, I railfan an TEXAS DFW. The only thing that bothers me a bit of most Stadler flirts it's almost the same bell and horn. TEXRail used to have the same type of bell but now it's a electric bell but faster than it used to be.
What's odd about the operation is that Metrolink contracts with Amtrak, the Locomotive Engineers and Conductors on Metrolink trains are Amtrak employees. Arrow is not, it is operated by TASI, which is the transport part of Herzog. Word on the street was Metrolink and Arrow would combine and the seniority would be put together. But this is because Herzog fawns over Metrolink and hopes to take that contract from Amtrak on the next bid. Otherwise, I'm not sure how the crew integration would work. Not that it really has anything to do with this video, just something to share. I don't work there but I believe Arrow is a pretty sweet gig, at least so far. For the work, it's not bad. Metrolink though, pays like a freaking slot machine. Anyway, I digress.
This train goes through a LOT of level crossings.. that horn is going wild
There actually weren't as many as I was expecting when I rode it. It's only a handful of miles, after all. I think the horn show in the video may have partially been for the cameras. ;)
Most of the city of Redlands is a quiet zone so not really

Do they get resteroom onboard?
It very rare that you uploaded this video at midnight in PST and 3 AM in EST Coasterfan2105
Yeah, it makes me wonder if he will still upload another video later at 9 am.
Hlo
Its so beautiful I live in Beaumont, they gotta expand it to Moreno Valley, Beaumont, Banning & Palm Springs.
Palm Springs and Desert would be fantastic!
I will be railfanning in Everett, Washington sometime between August 2nd and 5th
Really great how Metrolink is expanding service, especially considering the relatively low population of Redlands compared to something like Riverside.
I feel like this would also be smart to expand to riverside since service in the IEOC line between San Bernardino and Riverside isn't that frequent
Just like a TexRail train we have in the DFW area.

I like that new Redlands Metrolink light rail service.
Awesome video Mike!
Nice catch of the Arrow service
Hi Mike, great clip! I am verry happy to see trains that are so popular in Europe.
I'm so glad these lightweight Commuter Trains are coming to the US ,great video as always! I recommend the SMART Commuter Train in the North Bay Area for a future video
They look great!
thanks
This train is awesome! But what happened to the Be Track Smart F59 PHI?
Good Afternoon Coasterfan2105. ❤❤❤❤
Ah, the sounds of the testing/pre-QZ approval phase.
Wow, very surprising that you posted this very early! Awesome video though!
It looks great!
hi, this is a strange unscheduled post, but is cool!
Great clips! But posted 9 hours early?
Great video, CoasterFan2105! Those Metrolink arrows are very unique and very cool.
Interesting new passenger trains

@@kjivanjee The FLIRTs kinda look like LRVs
I actually worked on these a little bit in Salt Lake City when I did an internship at Stadler in High School.
I like that there are more commuter lines using European-style DMUs. I also like that these have a bell like some light rail cars do instead of a standard Graham-White e bell
Nice video. I haven’t seen NEW Metrolink Train arrow before. 🙂❤️
Very Rare to upload at Midnight as you usually upload videos at 9am
Other than that Great Video!
I agree totally.
me too
Fabulous video
You should do a video on the Los Angeles Metro Rail A Line, which is currently the longest light rail line in the world.
Dang im early, anyways lovely friday video as always brother!
The train looks Milyer. I think I want to see your trains.
HE JUST HIT 900K SUBSCRIBERS!🎉
WOWSERS 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey Mike, when Will You do a video of ACE's new trains?
Cool video and info too! (Dave).
You upload this at 12:00 am for me.
I got this notification while I was streaming Minecraft on TH-cam. Unscheduled release? BTW, great video.
Excellent quality video. But do these things ever crack 40MPH? Doesn't look like speed is much of a selling point.
great video as always I'm your biggest fan 💘💘💘💘💘💘❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆🚆
What? Wait a minute. Why are you uploading this 9 hours early?? Nice video though
Earlier than normal, huh?

@@desertPerson ohh ok and thanks for that info
Fantastic Video Mike! These DMUs sure are interesting!
Awesome video 👍🇺🇸🚂😎👍
Thats like a france commuter train
I believe the horn they use on the FLIRTs is a Kockum Sonics "Tyfon" MKT 75.
Its horn is just similar as Train 18 class in Indian Railways🧐🔥🔥
Awesome trains 🚆
Fantastic video!! It’s so cool having these European hydrogen DMU’s as they really make a great benefit for the 9 mile long route.
They aren’t hydrogen. They are diesel. It’s in the name “DMU” Diesel Multiple Unit
@@Amrepdude499 oh right, thanks

Do another Commuter Trains Galore with the Metrolink Arrow and Orange County lines featured
I know this is unlikely but I really wish they extend the arrow service to Riverside. It would be so helpful to tie together all of the various metrolink lines on the east side of the system.

Second best DMU line in California IMO
What’s your first? Only options are SMART, Sprinter and E Bart
Great video as always Mike!! Is there a reason this weeks vid came at 12am PST?
Since your currentlt posting mostly California videos, are there not gonna be many washington videos for awhile
Similar flirts are used on Texeail! Even the same horn!
I miss the older meteolink engines😭

The Fort Worth Texas TEXRail can be a future video about Commuter Trains.
The choice of Stadler FLIRTS instead of standard Metrolink rollingstock was prescient given then current ridership numbers, heh
Every decent sized town should have those.
Trimet WES uses diesel railcars for their WES service, but they don't look this cool 😅
They’re also super heavy compared to the Arrows
Love the video!!! Side note why does metrolink love crappy horns? 😅
Amezing❤
what is this upload time?
Do local freights use this line too?
Most likely at night
Good job, but could show the inside of the cars?
We need two or 4 tracks including the electrification.
Is this a Dmu or a diesel light rail
It's a DMU.
@@snoopyloopy well then that’s metrolinks first dmu train
There’s no such thing as Diesel Light Rail, the Sprinter isn’t even Light Rail even though they call it one, it’s not true light rail
This looks more like a light raid train than a commercial locomotive train. Are these trains on for the Arrow Line?
It seems more like a hybrid rail like the Sprinter between Oceanside and Escondido
Typical Stadler design 👍🏻
so they made the new train to redlands
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 your in California can we please get trains at bob hope airport train station please
Honestly the arrow isn’t really worth it unless it gets extended
yooo
Перевод возможен,?
What location will the new metro link arrow train be?
Arrow runs on the former Santa Fe Redlands ROW between the San Bernardino downtown station to Redlands University.
Why does the horn sound like a Nathan KJ horn
First
Man that horn is annoying !
Me personally I don’t like those new arrow trains
who let that school bus on the tracks? This manages to look worse than the chargers.
Its looks more like a LRV
@@maas1208 well whatever it is, it is not a good looking train.
He so this is good 😉👍
