I would not have found Frank placing of a gravestone "wonky" at all. It fits right in with Frank's deeply manipulative persona. You see it albeit in very subtle ways, with his marriage proposal to Claire already erasing "Claire Beauchamp" and replacing her with "Mrs. Frank Randall" in anticipation of meeting his parents (while rudely keeping them waiting at the restaurant). I realize that people married hastily during WWII as they didn't know whether they'd live to see each other again. However, in contrast, in spite of the urgency Jamie works to make his arranged marriage with Claire as "normal" and "legitimate" as possible. He "slows Dougal down," finds a Fraser kilt, takes care to be married "properly" in a church with a priest, provides a ring and a wedding dress. This shows deep emotional intelligence and concern for Claire as well as legitimizing the marriage more fully. This level of respect Frank does not have. This lack of respect for Claire as a person comes up again when he tries to get Claire's orders changed so that she can stay in London instead of leaving for the battlefront. In similar fashion, he makes sure that the strongest bond with Brianna is with him, not her mother. He knows she sees Jamie every time she looks at Brianna, and Frank simply cannot tolerate it. He allows no room for Claire to grieve the loss of Jamie or the trauma of returning to her own time. Frank is very much a man of his time and expects subservience from Claire in spite of his so-called admiration of her "stubbornness." By having the "proof" of the obituary, Frank knows that Claire will look for Jamie eventually. Perhaps its an attempt on his part to "change history" in his own favour. If she finds a headstone instead of the paper trail that he has found, perhaps Claire will believe the finality of a headstone and stop looking. It makes perfect sense to me.
I think there a lot of twists and turns in Outlander that we never thought of..always something different! That's why we keep coming back! What's next?
Whomever made this video needs to learn the names, it is somewhat funny when the computer reader mispronounce the names of the author and actors names. Lol Spoilers: If you have read the books Frank wasn't like he was on screen. He had cheated on Claire when he was in the army. The series wanted to make Frank more likeable, because Tobias was to play both Frank and Black Jack. They wanted them to be seen as different people.
I never missed the clue. Of course Frank knew it and that is why he wanted to take Brianna to Cambridge with him and his soon to be wife. It was really stupid on his part because he was really her father, yet he wanted to spare her the sadness she would endure ate her Mom's death. Yes he had been keeping track himself of Jamie Fraser and when she would return to be with Jamie Fraser again. It seems he still loved Claire and she did for him, even though her true love was for Jamie Fraser. He was the Love Of Her Life.
That is half correct Claire believed Jamie dead she later found out he was not why would he watch Brianna go to her parents if they were going to die?answer they do not
It so easy though.....When Frank looked at those papers, it hadn't actually happened yet.Edit: claire changed the past by entering the past. All history books before she left the first time where different from when she came back even in just small ways. It would be the same for Frank sicne its complicated due to beign simulationously in the future and the past. And even if he did, who can blame him... lets not be selfish here.
