      Double Tap that , I grew up with Rottweilers my whole life. My father was a top breeder in the USA in the 80s. I am now 36 and yeah still have a Rottweiler. I have owned GSD, Ridgebacks, Pinchers, and now we're looking into the Fila. For me personally to own as a family member "not a dog for sale" is the Rottweiler. For sometime we had to stray away from Rottweilers as we seen rotts. I will never call a Rottweiler a Rott!!!!! That being said and knowing my Rottweiler can run 6 miles at 6.2mph and go camping and even be a frisbee dog is something I waited for a very long time. They blow there coats twice yearly, low shedding, very easy to work with with a unreal stuborn personality. Now if I needed to train a cadaver dog I am not using a Rottweiler I would lean towards a Belgian shepherd. If you are a FBI and did CT, Belgium shepherds or GSD Giant Schnauzer and black labs, those dogs are curcial. I hate to bring it up but 9!! If it was not for a breeder out of in the west, breeding Belgium shepherds there would of been even more suffering. "Thank you Connie." Her dogs saved more life's then any to date. They all died of cancer and lunge issues. those dogs where in high pain doing there jobs. Do you want that drive in your house? Not me so I love Rottweilers for my family.. point all dogs need to be respected for there prosperous there is no better then, it's what works for you!

      @@bhrbehavioralhealthracing30 What has been your experience in owning GSD vs Rottweiler? If the latter are stubborn, then how do they make gpod family dogs? Did you find the GSD easier to handle than the Rottweiler? I have owned a GSD and something tells me that they are similarly capable of being family, guard and protection dogs and yet being more obedient amd easier to handle than the Rottweiler.

    I own two Cane Corso's. They have a strong prey drive from the time of puppyhood. I recently purchased a Rottweiler puppy. I asked the breeder to choose a puppy for my needs and situation living with two huge Cane Corso's. Melificent my Rottweiler puppy is extremely prey driven and at 7 weeks old holds agressivly pulls, tugs, and growls at her tug rope. She leaps forward until it is hers. She takes it away attacking it. 🤣 I am learning all I can to corral this drive in training. I don't want to break her drive. She a handful that needs a lot of attention and mental stimulation. I absolutely love my Rottweiler puppy.

    Love your videos and have become super fascinated with protection dog training and advanced dog training in general. This video is kind of funny to me because the dogs I currently have are 2 boys and 2 girls and the 2 boys definitely play like this puppy and love to tug and fetch, the girls have no interest in toys but yet are the most obedient and intuitive they just always know what to do lol! Of course they are all companion pets and small breed so were never selected or trained for the types of things you do but I would like to work more with them on general stuff and unique tricks!

    • @KerisPee
      @KerisPee 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A quick google search before commenting would've educated you about the Rott being a WORKING dog. Historically, & currently, they pulled carts, etc FYI. Docking the tail prevents injury when pulling carts...kinda like when they cut the hair or bind up a Clydesdale horse's tail when pulling to prevent injury. So, since all Rotts used to look like that, it became a breed standard. Tail is docked while extremely young, so when someone purchases the dog, he/she is ready to work...as the breed was bred to do. It's just a lil deeper than 'just for looks'.

      What the heck are you talking about? If you have a dog with no drive that is great. Nice pet. If you have a dog with no drive and YOU want it to be trained for something the dog cannot do you are not doing the dog any favor. I didn't say take the dog out back and shot it. Just get the right dog for the right work. Don't get a Bassett Hound and then decide you want a water recuse dog and try to make that dog do something they are not meant for.

      David Harris The perfect answer,stupid millenials !!!

    • @KerisPee
      @KerisPee 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, a bad owner gives the Rott a bad name. They can be hard-headed & have the size to 'persuade' anyone that their way is best way. It's imperative to train these dogs & not allow them to develop more instinct than trained behaviors. That's when a Rott is dangerous...unless there is bad breeding=breeding an aggressive dog(doggie bitch, etc). So, this play is very important as instinct is making the puppy give chase & want the toy, then he's teaching that it will be fair play...the toy will be given, taken & then given again. This takes the 'possession' of this toy from being very serious 'life or death' to FAIR PLAY. This play kinda resets the dog's 'line in the sand' , so it has more patience & it takes much more to get a reaction.
      Same concept as food aggression. Instinct says its 'life or death'. Training teaches the dog that the food is always returned, so that curbs the 'life or death' instinct response.
