    Nobody packs more value into a ten-minute video than Gavin. Videos like this are why TH-cam may be the single greatest product of the Internet age.

    Gavin making it real by photographing a mermaid! Presumably travelled to the location on a unicorn or flew by dragon :) Awesome shoot and great results. Hats off to Sam for the challenge. Disappointed by the lack of smoke though!

    Wow....she is amazing. A real pro under the water. She know how to move, how to handle the fabrics, how not to make all the faces we make underwater and look natural....
    Her work could seem easy but it is hard and was really well performed.
    I think I should replicate this work with barbies in my fish bowl. (something at my level) :-)
    Great video.

    What a great shoot idea, Sam did a great job of setting it up. I think she was more excited then you Gavin. Great model and pictures. Looked like a super fun time. I think the best shots were when you had the lights in the small portal. Looked more natural. Another great video, thanks for sharing.

I've never even thought about doing this sort of shoot, and it was fascinating to see how you worked through the lighting issues. The model knew what she was doing as well, which made it go smoothly. Gavin did it again..!! When he got the good shot in the first go, I can totally relate to that. Working in small space my self, I will put a lot of thought into ho the light is going to light the subject and you will pretty much nail the shot in the first go. But still a lot to learn thanks to experts like him for taking the time to actually tech people

    Gavin, you could have front-lit, IF you put the light (or its modifier) directly against the perspex facing forward. The light's parabolic reflector or the modifier would stop any reflection from the perspex. Next time? Beautiful work and neat idea!

    • @GavinHoey
      @GavinHoey 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chris. That might have worked but it would have had to tight to the glass. The perspex was several inches thick so there would have been internal reflections from the second layer. But if I get to try this again I'll give it a go 😉

    That's amazing!!! It's good you got a model who knows how to swim :) You are a master at problem solving. That definitely was a challenge. I was wondering about the water affecting the color temperature of the light. Did it? If it did how did you correct?

    • @GavinHoey
      @GavinHoey 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks Patty. Swimming skills were less important then sinking skills! The model had to be under water with empty lungs otherwise she'd just float on the surface... That's a tough skill to master! No colour correction done, I just set my camera to day light and what you see is what I got 👍

      Good question Leon. My Olympus camera ALWAYS shoots 4:3 but I generally crop to 3:2 for horizontal images and weirdly 4:3 for upright shots.
