No need for the word "nano" in the title. If these fish were 3" long and lived in the ocean there would be no public beaches or beach fronts. I've had these for almost a year at this point in a 40B by themselves. My surviving 2 killed the other 4. They stare out of the tank at me, always keeping their body and eyes oriented toward me. Sudden movements by me in front of the glass do nothing to their position. They maintain eye contact at all times and show no fear because unlike me, they have no fear. They stay motionless in the water column, just staring out at me with that Eastwood grimace on their face. I need to clean the algae off of the front glass but previous encounters with this pair have weakened my resolve to clean. One cleaning I was bitten 86 times. They are relentless. I opened my hand like a giant claw and tried and shoo them away; but, alas, they did not back down. They bit at the soft fleshy parts in-between my fingers. I left the algae on the glass. I stare back at them, shouting out loud that I am not afraid of them and that I will clean that algae off their glass whether they like it or not. I get my sponge, move back the lid and prepare to clean. They still stare at me-never breaking eye contact and never ever blinking. As I raise my hand to the tank top, one of them emits two streams of bubbles that cascade to the surface and break, filling my ears with the following words; "Do you feel lucky punk?' followed by "Well do ya??!" I bring my now empty hand down; the sponge has dropped to the floor. I stare at it - and it is shaking. I look up at the tank and see two noses pressed against the glass, as though trying to get th rough it to reach me. I back away slowly, before I run to my shrimp tank in the other room. I stare at them and place my hand in their tank and they all scatter into various corners and crevices. My soul re-enters my body and I feel alive again.

Relentlessly vicious lil boogers. They will never get parent of the year awards. 😂 Hope you had a wonderful Christmas 🎄🎁🎅 Looking forward to new videos in the New Year. 👍💕👍
Maybe you don't mind putting your hand in the tank, but I thought I'd mention they have 25 inch scrapers for sale on Amazon for about $12. Really no harm in doing it either way I just like using the long scraper lol, I was really glad it existed when I finally found it.
Had them when i was younger, maybe 12 years old. I loved them. At one point a tank of a good friend broke and we had absolutely no other way but to put his fish into my tank. I had one pair of those buggers and my friend had seven Iodotropheus sprengerae. A decent sized cichlid that gets a lot bigger (a lil over 10cm) than the lamprologus. I had to put those seven guys into the tank with my lamprologus. I hoped for the best, i just hoped that they would hide in their shell untill we managed to set up a new tank. So i had to do some stuff for the next two or three hours. When i came back i went to my tank straight away to see if my lamprologus got eaten....They did not. All seven sprengeraes were balled up in a corner trying not to die. It was that moment where i fell in love with them :D
I love my Ocellatus. They don't bite me when I put food in the water, but they will when I clean the tank. I started with 6 in a 20 long. Two got picked off by the others. Then they paired off and started breeding. I now have a 20 long full of teenagers and a 33 long with the adults and a few more of the teenagers. LOL. I am hoping with more space the new fry will survive again.
Beautiful fish tank I think it's totally awesome how you keep species of fish and I like the shell dwellers I think it's totally neat how you you breed them
Can I ask what gravel/sand you used here specifically? I just removed acidifying active substrate from a small tank to prep for non-Murder Fish Caudopuncs and want the whitest I can get. This looks nice.
My favourite fish before seeing this video was my pair of kribensis (pelvicachromis taeniatus kienke), but these little fish are so cool and feisty I may just have to get a pair 🤓
Lol I've gotten bitten soooo many times I lost count...I remember moving a rock once and they preceded to attack it for a whole 10 seconds. They will fight everything lol
They're fun little fish. Although when I stocked my tank, I made sure all the fish were juveniles, and I have my oscellatus in a 29 tall with brichardi, lelupi, caudopunctatus, cylindricus, julidochromis, and alto comp, and they have all found their territories and cohabitate wonderfully. Once in a great while, I'll get brave and reach my hand in to add a plant. And every time I'm savagely attacked 😂 but they really don't bother any of the other fish unless they enter their little corner of the tank.
Merhaba arkadaşım.tank ve balıkların harika.bende iki gün önce bir çift aldım,fakat erkek disiyi tabana ve kabuklara yaklastirmiyor😞.umarım gecici bir durumdur
for 10gal it's not more than 1 pair, the fact that it's a long tank is better, these bottom/shell dwellers mostly only roam around the bottom of tank, hence a long tank is better than a standard 10 by providing a little more living space for them. Just be sure to give them lots of shells and sand to live in.
I was breeding them for years and I´m surprised to see that 2 males in one tank seem to work, in my tank which was 1.1 x 0.55 m always only one male survived.
I first saw Murder Fish in my LFS - babies. So cute - in a group on the bottom wagging their tails at me and I wanted them so bad. Part of me still thinks they'd be a good idea because I don't want tons of babies.
Awesome!! I have a breeding trio in a 50gallon. "36×15.5×20" With Tons of Fry! At least 100 are so LoL.These little guys are the Bulldogs of the Waters! Don't back down for nothing! Very intelligent with Lots of personality! Mine give me the stare down LoL. Love em 🐟🎭⚜️
@@CreativePetKeeping hopefully you will! With my trio in constant rotation spawning. I transfer the bigger fry to a 20 long growout tank. To keep predation and aggression down. 1-2 times a month I clean the tank housing my texas cichlid I bleed everytime I lose a gallon of water hes over 10 inches with some fairly decent teeth it's the definition of insanity I love it though

I liked owning them but they are a bit too aggressive to keep with bettas in a community tank so atm I would not get any unless I move and set up a different community tank in the future...maybe all schooling fish

@@CreativePetKeeping wow that's rough how does the pet shop where I am have it in with others it's in with angel fish and chiclids which are territorial aswell but even mollies are in there that's why I needed a second opinion so ty i wont be getting one

@@CreativePetKeeping so bigger the tank the more shy they are or no cuz mine is a 40 gallon long that's the new tank no decorations or nothing in yet getting water temp up all that
