I'm at the point now in my life where I enjoy watching this more than another high performance car with those giant screens and automatic transmission. I'm only 30 years old, I'm scared how I'll be when I'm 50 :)).
Yeah. It's kinda cool to think that someone would even take the time to record videos like these with everyday cars instead of some tuned M4 or something.
All you need to have Is fun when you drive man, I don't care If the cars I enjoy are shit boxes compared to what the community loves. All I care Is my smile on my face while driving and as long as I have this, why will I be disappointed to have the same enjoyment as you have here ??
Right now there are 6 Citroën parked in a row in front of my house, two mk1 C4 like this one, mk1 C3, a mk2 C4, a Xsara Picasso and a Saxo, the newest one must be at least 9 years old. I think this is a good proof of how, despite their awful press, Citroën, and French brands overall, are more reliable and comfortable than most European automobile-related press say they are (often bribed by Germans to make good press of German cars and bad press of French cars)
the reliability problems are usually electrics or transmission. the french have never learnt how to wire their car together or how to keep their transmission from grinding
German cars are better W123 W124 E30 80 B2 French cars are too plasticy and have faulty electrics and electronics also more prone to engine failure oil leaks and head gaskets blowing German cars are better than French cars even VW but with Japanese cars you won't worry about such issues especially with Toyota Honda and Mazda
First check if you want to buy one : Oil leak on the right side of the engine (left side when you're in front of the car) = cylinder head gasket is dead, common problem of this 1.4l TU engine with 16v cylinder head. Pretty comfortable but the rear suspensions are hard, the rear drivetrain tends to jump on small deformations in the road (I had to have both coupé and sedan version) The interior is really good, depends what version you want... Some plastics are really cheap, but after 14 years, it's pretty decent... On Highways, the sound of the motor is present when above 120km/h... this motor is made for city drive as it doesn't have enough torque/power and the car is too heavy for this little motor. If you have time, driving mostly country roads around 90/100km/h then it'll fit your desire with low fuel consumption (around 6L/100km) Better choice is 1.6 16v 110hp
This is all true, but it must be added that you should check the oil pressure in a hot engine at idle before buying (this is a known problem with used KFU engines).
i drove 2 of these (1.6 hdi 90 and 1.6 16v 110) its a good budget car now for daily driving. they improved suspension comfort on the C4 II (2010-2018) because this one is a bit firm in my opinion
6:32 typical problem of KFU engine with low oil pressure with heated engine in idle. The solution is to set in motion and clean the valve in the oil filter bowl.
I got kind of excited when I saw 138, I realize it's km, but I was thinking was faster than it was, still 85 mph is really fast with an engine that small!
There's things I enjoy about this car. Its fresh looks, seat never gave a sore day, the static steering wheel centre, engine. However, I'm giving up because it always brings about some annoyances, specifically expenditures and bulbs n other electrics. Space could be used more effectively. Rolling back to bigger, more traditional cars.
Allways liked this car, glad to see that Citroen continued to be quirky with its new C4. They were allways under appreciated cars in Croatia but well designed, equipped and with decent engines. Electrical problems plagued it. I drive a Peugeot from 2008, mechanically is great but electrical parts are problematic. Great video Joe.
I think Citroën is in a weird position, people don't really say they love them, but somehow Citroën always ends up being one of Europe's best-selling carmakers.
PSA are Junky !!! electrical and electronic faults is the least concern Engine failures blowing head gaskets oil leaks burning oil and piston rings are the biggest concerns
I've always found the steering wheel in the C4 to be quite scary as sometimes you may not know which way the car is going to face as the centre of the wheel doesn't move. It totally freaks me out.
Great test as always, but this C4 is in a bad state. Badly or not at all maintained suspension, and the steering wheel shake at 6:21 is probably from improper wheel balancing after installing these ''beautiful'' rims... Try to find a 1.6i in a good condition if you can.

Small but enough powerful engine for the car, didn't feel that sluggish at all. Honestly I could see this car running for another 10 years👍

Citroën risked bankruptcy Peugeot saved them
You don’t need to put a camera to the speedometer. It big enough to see.😁
Best looking C4 generation.
indeed
I have one of these and absolutely love it. She's getting old now, but I love it like a new car whenever I wash it and vacuum the inside :)
Me too bro! Sometimes I have thoughts of buying something else, but in the end I love it and it will stay indefintely ^_^

It's 2021 and I still want one.

Great car and rather reliable 👍🏻love the steering wheel too 😀

I feel like I'd constantly hit my hand... The centre of the wheel being static is strange, but cool.

I love this car, I have a C4 Pallas in Brazil. (:
I'm disappointed because the C4 did not transform into a giant robot dancing to "Jacques Your Body" song.
