Air pod pro 2 are one of the best value for dollar Apple products in a very long time. Seamless technology married to seamless design. They are a life-changing product.
The one thing I like about Apple is that when they come out with a product that's really good, it forces the rest of the industry to raise their standards to be able to follow, and in general, the rest of the industry sells cheaper than Apple 🤗
For ANC alone - I compared the AirPods Pro 2, Bose QC earbuds ii, and AirPod Max in actual flight last week from the US to Europe. My AirPod Max still have the original firmware because I have never connected them to any Apple product. Long story short, unfortunately, in real flights, the Airpod Pro 2 had the worst ANC in the particularly very high frequencies (around 8 kHz and up). I sat right next to a side window, close to the engine and I can hear a relatively loud hissing wind noise from the AirPods Pro 2 when compared to the other 2. The Max still blocked out the mid and high-frequency noises best, while the Bose QC 2 buds were the best at the very low frequencies. IMO, the Airpods Pro 2 actually beat Bose QC 2 at the mid frequencies, and they had the same performance as the Max at blocking out low humming engines noise. It was just the wind noise that really bothered me. You might not experience the same if you don't sit at window seats. Sadly, I had to return the Airpods Pro 2. I love the way they sound for general genes of music, they are very quiet in calmer environments (Bose QC2 buds create some low white noise). I'd really really wanted to keep them right before that flight. I did some research and I saw people also have this wind noise problem with their ANC. I suspect the air vent design causing it, since the the Pixel pro buds also have the same issue.
It guess it depends on what plane you’re flying. I assume if you’re flying in regional/small jets. They do have that high pitch whistle sound compare to nose commercial jets. Or some old commercial jets such as MD80 could do it too. Most planes does low hum noise these days.
I was hoping to hear more about the sound quality between the two. The Airpods Pro 2 are amazing, but can they really match the sound quality of the AirPods Max, or is there a case for having both (for different settings)?
As we said - they have different strengths and weaknesses. The Max has a better sense of space, is a bit more sub bass focused and has a bit of a harsher treble presentation. The Pro is kinda Harman ish with a bit more bass.
I have both and I also have different ears. My scores differ significantly. Glad to report both are game changers. Great to choose for the occasion. Also that I paid $399 for the Max !

I think it’s not the Pros or the Max. It’s always both because their use cases differ. When there is a choice to make then it is between Apple or others like B&O, Sennheiser, Bowers&Wilkins, …
I go to dialysis 3x a week and with all the machines making noise I needed a good ANC. My Max blocks more noise then my Air pods pro 2 2nd gen. So my Max is my go to during treatments and my Pro 2nd Generation is my back up

Ummm not to sure about workouts. Pro’s 2 often fall out when I’m doing bench presses and I get up after the 3rd set, or in the middle of bent-over rows for example. So I thought the Max would offer a solution. I may just skip it for now.
I agree my pro earbuds tend to fall out when in the gym. On occasion. They are not perfect for the gym. But I think they are better than the max as I don’t want to get the max sweaty. I think there are better on-ear headsets for the gym such as the Beats Studio pro
This is weird I have both and when I use them at dialysis on calls people hear me clearly with the Max. With the pro 2 have have to constantly repeat myself.
Hello 👋🏽 Please, could you confirm that devices with Google Fast Pair can now switch between Android devices linked to the same Google account. The latest Google Fast Pair update is supposed to have brought this option much like the Airpods into the Apple ecosystem. 🙏🏽

It's just that the new version of Fast Pair is supposed to allow earbuds that have it to work like Airpods do on iOS, for example if you are watching a movie on your Android tablet and you receive a call on your smartphone, you can answer without having to click on any connection pop-up, really like the Airpod with an iPad and an iPhone. I hope that there I was able to express my question better 😅
i disagree with that .5 point for the APP2 on the microphone. I use the microphone a lot for calls and recording audio and I can never get good sound quality out of the AirPod Max microphone. It just doesn't sound good at all. AirPod Pro two though does well enough I would give it the full point Did I miss sound quality discussed?
Honestly, I like how he said that the AirPods are smaller than the maxes, he's true. But, that is the main reason why I would rather have the maxes over the AirPods. I won't have to worry about losing them. You may say the find my device too. I used that app and its features and still can't find my AirPods. They're completely lost and I doubt I will lose the maxes because how much bigger they are!
In the same breathe bring up up size though the AirPods are way more convenient and you can pretty much bring them anywhere with you as long as you have pockets lol along with being able to not have a headset on you and people having an awkward conversation where with the AirPods you’d barely notice if a person had one on if they were talking to you and you didn’t see which side of ear they had it on, sound quality though has to be better on the Max’s what’s the point of making them then ? However the AirPods are not that far off in terms of sound quality and for the lack of quality compared to max’s, the conveniency itself to be able carry and take AirPods with you wherever brings it neck and neck imo in its own way to the max’s
AirPods Pro 2 are better than the AirPods Max. I own both. I will be returning the AirPods Max. The APP2's noise cancelling is superb. Just as good if not better than the over-ear Max. I just bought the Max yesterday because I loved the Pro 2's so much, I wanted to see how much better the "Max" would be. I listened to my reference tracks back to back. The sound reptherroduction seems identical. I cannot tell any difference, if anything, the APP2 is marginally better sounding. The APP2 is a much better experience though, as they are nearly weightless. The MAX is obsolete. If you want an over-ear, and are looking for top quality, there are better options in the high-end headphone market.
If I existed in the Applesphere, I'd be all over the earbuds. I personally don't want to invest over five hundred Canadian in a two year old set of technologically faded cans. I've gone for shure. Earbuds are 10 years old, with detachable cable and now Bluetooth earhooks. However, the AirPods Pro 2 are the first AirPods I've considered buying. Though Sony linkbud S are sooooo comfortable and £120

The airpods pro 2 is definitely better, it just doesn't make sense to get the max 2.. none of the fake reviewers who said the max is good did not talk about the condensation issue.. and while the build is premium, its heavier as well.. Pro 2 a better value, hands down. I like both, but is Apple kidding with the vast difference in price? And, what is the story with the phone quality on the Max with all of those microphones. We deserve some sort of software update to fix this. And, for the money we should have gotten weather resistance on the Max. The only plus I give to the Max is that they are over ear and I do love in ear headphones. But, I prefer the comfort and reliability of my Bose headphones to the Max.
Hi, I'm an Apple fan myself, I have a lot of Apple technology and gadgets, but personally I like airpods about 1 generation, they are terrible. What is the problem you ask? I will answer you from my purchase of Apple AirPods Pro gen1, every 2 months crackling began to occur in the left earpiece, problems with the microphone. after 1 year of using Airpods Pro gen1, I came to the conclusion that I don’t want to buy this product called Airpods Pro gen1. Now I’m looking at what to take for myself either Airpods Max or Airpods Pro gen2, but something tells me that the work on the bugs will not be done. respectfully
Had the Airpods pro gen2 and had a craklish noise in my right earbud after two weeks. didnt go away. Other than that they were amazing just not 300 bugs amazing. For 180 ish i would buy them but them. Sound is pretty good and watching Apple tv or netflix is amazing.
In view of this vs and the precedent between the Airpod Pro and the other high-end TWS, I come to certain conclusions: Xm4, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Bose Qc2 and Sennheiser 3 sound better than Airpod Max The Bose and Sony are better than the Airpod Max in terms of ANC.
Lol…totally disagree with your findings and so do many professional reviewers. I have both of these. Controls on the max much easier to use and more intuitive. It’s not a bare edge for the max - it’s a clear win for the max. ANC much better on the max. Transparency is better as well. Sound on the max is much bigger soundstage and more rich bass. You can’t give the buds the edge on battery as they run dry after 5 hours and have to put them back in the case. The max can go all day without a recharge. The buds are more portable and water resistant and have the H2 chip advantages. However the sound and ANC and transparency in my use are superior with the max. I enjoy both I use the buds for the gym and exercising outside or if I have a situation where I need something really portable or risk of rain. The far superior sound of the max make them my choice for indoors and for some travel situations. Device pairing and switching works flawlessly on mine but I am talking all Apple devices - iPad, MacBook, iPhone. I enjoy both devices for different purposes as both have different advantages. Both sound great but the max is a clear winner in sound quality. Much bigger sound stage. The buds get a bit crispy in the highs when you crank them up, the max sound better. Also watching movies I am choosing the max every time. I don’t care about the lightening cable I have tons of cables from over the years it’s not worth making a big deal.
Of course - no reason for any personal attacks. We are just fellow tech fans enjoying a discussion. The pro 2 buds are amazing on their own. I just think you started out preferring the buds and several of your review categories you just glossed over clear advantages the max have. Battery, you have to take off your buds and put them in their case 3 times for a full charge each time to match the 20 hours of continuous use of the max. That’s a major win for the max. Maybe it’s only due to form factor as the max can have a bigger battery but it’s a big advantage nonetheless. Fiddling with the tiny buds for controls just isn’t even close to the ease of the max controls. Like I said, I have both - and would defend both as being very good. But I am not the only one saying the max sounds better and the ANC and transparency modes are just a bit better. Apple made good use of the over the ear form factor to engineer these advantages. Even considering the max came out 3 years ago. People are still reviewing the max and buying the max - they have made a major impact. All the fuss about lightening cables gets way overblown. How is it ruining the planet? All headsets provide a cable with them. The fact that it’s a lightening connector doesn’t change that. And if your phone is USB C and your headset is lightening, carrying 2 cables or 1 cable and a tiny adapter that weighs almost nothing is not a hardship. Most people who use tech already have USB C connectors - so giving them yet another USB C cable with their new set of cans takes as much resource as providing a lightning cable. Almost every portable device these days includes a cable of one type or another. If the Max were USB C you would be supplying a redundant USB C cable to a person who already has USB C devices/cables so how are you saving the planet. This is more a gripe against Apple exclusive ecosystem. But let’s face it this is part of who Apple is. They continue to make amazing products that tons of people have no problem buying and they push the rest of the industry to improve as well. Soon enough it will be all USB C or wireless. The cans came out in 2020. The buds are great when you must have more durability and need ultimate portability and they have some updated tech since they are newer. But that does not make them overwhelmingly superior to the AirPods Max. If I could only have one or the other I would take the buds because they are more practical in some situations and more durable/portable. But that doesn’t mean the AirPods Max have no real advantages. They do. Luckily I can enjoy both.

Mines is the opposite it works perfectly for noises like engines and machines but is horrible for any type of talking and not constant noise

On headphones while benching, I usually turn them the so that headband runs across my face. That way they never fall. 😁

Fiddling with the tiny buds for controls just isn’t even close to the ease of the max controls.
Like I said, I have both - and would defend both as being very good. But I am not the only one saying the max sounds better and the ANC and transparency modes are just a bit better. Apple made good use of the over the ear form factor to engineer these advantages. Even considering the max came out 3 years ago. People are still reviewing the max and buying the max - they have made a major impact.
All the fuss about lightening cables gets way overblown. How is it ruining the planet? All headsets provide a cable with them. The fact that it’s a lightening connector doesn’t change that. And if your phone is USB C and your headset is lightening, carrying 2 cables or 1 cable and a tiny adapter that weighs almost nothing is not a hardship. Most people who use tech already have USB C connectors - so giving them yet another USB C cable with their new set of cans takes as much resource as providing a lightning cable. Almost every portable device these days includes a cable of one type or another. If the Max were USB C you would be supplying a redundant USB C cable to a person who already has USB C devices/cables so how are you saving the planet. This is more a gripe against Apple exclusive ecosystem. But let’s face it this is part of who Apple is. They continue to make amazing products that tons of people have no problem buying and they push the rest of the industry to improve as well. Soon enough it will be all USB C or wireless. The cans came out in 2020.
The buds are great when you must have more durability and need ultimate portability and they have some updated tech since they are newer. But that does not make them overwhelmingly superior to the AirPods Max.
If I could only have one or the other I would take the buds because they are more practical in some situations and more durable/portable. But that doesn’t mean the AirPods Max have no real advantages. They do. Luckily I can enjoy both.

The Max hhas FAR superior sound than the Pro 2. Bigger drivers always win.

I have both the airpods pro 2 and airpods max. I was NOT expecting to use my airpods pro 2 more than the max. They are incredible.
