To understand not to sell a product until you know how much of the product you will have, is not hard to understand. Just don't do it. Your not charging the customer the credit card chargeback fee, which is commendable. Any canceled preorder on this product, is going to go on blast due to the nature of trying to get this product on release day.
Yeah, he's not getting any allocation because the last day to confirm allocation was on November 29. So he's part of the problem that list item without confirmation
You are NOT going to get any because the Black last day for Pre-Order Prismatic Evolutions November 29, last day. Because I received my confirmed allocation on this set.and it's last day was November 29th. Never list a item without confirmed amount.
With all the commotion with Prismatic Evolutions I decided to go with the Japanese version Terastal Festival. No problem in getting booster boxes which will not be offered with Prismatic Evolutions. The hit rates with Terastal Festival are pretty good and there is a possibility of getting a god pack.
Don't take pre-orders until you know your allocation. That was the point of NN's video you completely missed. You will likely get less than 25% of what you ordered. Canceling orders are going to make angry customers which isn't good for your business.
Major Sports Card stores are buying more Pokemon and will make the allocations from Distributors go down significantly for small Pokemon resellers. Unless you requested more than normal you will probably be shocked at your allocation.
I can tell you're fully genuine and trustworthy, But we can't say the same thing for everyone else. It just puts a bad image on your business if you do pre orders before knowing how much product you have to sell. Mainly because the small percentage of people who might get their orders canceled will automatically think you're one of those shady sellers. I just don't think it would hurt to much to wait until you have your allocations in place before doing pre orders. That way you don't run the risk of losing potential returning customers and just generally making people unhappy, especially when you're a small business because every customer is so crucial to help your business grow and build a good reputation in this community.
You know, you may be right. I hadn’t really considered if pre-orders are necessary or not. I suppose if a business doesn’t need the capital from pre-orders, which at this point in my business I don’t, pre-orders aren’t truly necessary. I think I kind of got caught up in the FOMO of it all too. THANK YOU for this insight!
Taking people's money without knowing your pre-order numbers and then just simply canceling is a terrible way to do business. I would be really angry if you took my money and then canceled my pre.Order.
Taking preorders? Why? My recommendation? Don’t If you take my money and return it a month or two later, I will put you on blast and never deal with you again. Using my money without compensating me is inexcusable business practice.
“They’re being scammed, and ripped off.” About time since that’s what most resellers do when they buy out everything everywhere and then flip it for triple price. The average consumer is constantly getting ripped off and scammed when they have to buy an ETB for $150 bc there’s nowhere else to get it at it’s intended price.
I've only dealt with one company that canceled pre-orders and they went out of business getting caught up in the preorder game. Other than that I've found a bunch of places that have never wronged me and have great customer service. I'll tell you that once you cancel orders you will lose customers and word will get out that you cancel orders regardless if why it happened. You'll get even more wrath if you charge the credit card fee back to the buyer which is them paying for your mistake. If you can't put preorder money to work then you're better off not doing preorders if there is even a small chance you have to cancel orders. You need a solid customer base if you want to continue selling products into the future. It's easy to sell stuff that flies off the shelf everywhere but it's harder to get people to come back when the set isn't as desirable. On a side note, you said new products shouldn't be listed for more than msrp but then said you don't know if you'll list future product on release at over msrp. I'm not against you getting market value but you contradicted yourself on that one. I see a lot of larger lgs's selling for well over msrp but they also have great under msrp sales on most other things. People will go back to them even if they're put off by the higher than msrp listing. For a small store that can't offer those deals you may not want to play with fire for a small short term profit. Gaining customers is a much better strategy for long term growth.
Great advice, thank you. If I understand what you mean by putting pre-order money to work that doesn't change the fact that distributors can limit the amount of product a store receives. Even with the best intentions I would think there is always a possibility of pre-orders being canceled. You are correct about me contradicting myself, I intend to speak on that in an upcoming video. Thanks for the comment, you've given me much to consider!
I beleive what he was saying is you are selling pre orders before you even got your pre order numbers is bad.

That may be a good way to go, at least until the hype dies down some.

Its gonna be hilarious when these companies get the bills for the canceled preorders

If you’re selling for fair price though I’m sorry.
10% of what you ordered probably
You have a great voice. 👍

There is 0 reason to preorder months out unless your company is dying, Just wait for your allocations and then do it like whats an extra month?
