I love all Irish ballads. I am nearly 80 rears old. My grandfather listened to Irish music on the battery powered radio. To my knowledge, I have only minor Irish ancestry on my grandmother's side of the family. My step son and grandson showed me how to access TH-cam music. I discovered Irish music here and spend many hours each day listening. I find myself getting upset about the mistreatment of Irish people by the British. Maybe I should be thankful since it resulted in so much wonderful ballads.

Came back to my country in 2011.
I can understand people who miss there, because I live that feeling every day!
So I have to desagree with who says Ireland is for Irish... Sorry...
Ireland is for sensitive people, who appreciate nature, good music, great people etc..

Listening to this stirring Irish music brings back countless memories , mostly beautiful , of a girl I loved very deeply. Sad as well as she was taken from me along with her brother, Mum and Dad in a tragic road accident 2 days after we announced our engagement nearly 60 years ago. How I still miss her lovely voice singing the songs of her country every time I hear the songs and music of her country of birth.

Thank you again. Be safe...

I am lucky that my ancestry on both my father's and mother's families is Irish and from The Republic. Rebel music is not only stirring to hear, it brings me closer to them. Please don't forget that although "The Troubles" are said to be over, division and violence still lingers in the North. Bless those that fought to free The Republic of Ireland and may the North and The Republic join as one island. What a blessed day that will be.💚🍀🍀

" When apples still grow in November,
When blossoms still grow from each tree,
When leaves are still green in December,
It's then that our land will be free. "
Might have been prophetic as now those things are close to reality due to global warming and the last part of Ireland may be free at last ..

Irish and Lakota here- My grandmother fled Ireland due to the poteen famine! She arrived in New York alone with no money! She met a beautiful Gullah Geechie( Antwonette) family had suffered slavery- She was part of the underground railway and through her my Great grandmother taught English in exchange for a clean room in a barn! Eventually, these two became best friends and both rode across the land in a covered wagon and landed in Granum Alberta! Where her Gullah Geechie friend married the first Black Doctor in Southern Alberta! My grandmother was hired to work as a teacher and tailor on the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota- Here she met and married my Lakota grandfather! The government would not normally allow folks to marry another race- However, bc the Irish were considered only 4/5 human, this was allowed! My Great Grandfather Charger, a fierce warrior( Dog Soldier ) married her in Rapid City! They were married for over 50 yrs!

I'm only eighth Irish, Winnifred Burke was my great grandmother. Buried in an English Cemetery with her Italian husband Nazarino Fucille, Nazarino was interned on Isle of Mann for the duration as an enemy alien in WW2. Born in 1874, he was 67 when rounded up and torn away from his family and home. What threat could he possibly be? But that was then. "Collar the lot". Lost his business, everything. Was in England from 1894, but never got himself legal here. I have a photo of me as a baby on his knee, he lived to 97. If you pass Grangetown Cemetery in Sunderland, give them a-cross-yourself.
