    Look forward to this series .my father rode one during world war II.
    And I rode a SSBN in the early '80s.

    Really looking forward to this series. Would be interesting to see it sit alongside a 1/32 type VII such as the OTW boat to get an idea of the difference in size between the real subs.

    That's going to turn out awesome Bob and Jason. I can't wait to catch the other episodes

    Outstanding! Thank you for this in-depth gaze and thought process, behind how you'll go about it different this time. I have a Gato/Balao in 1/32, which strangely is just over 7'...Hmmm... She's a model of the PAMPANITO, SSN383, which resides in Fisherman's Warf, San Francisco, maintained in "running order," as a museum. I managed to get to about 75% completion, which included the systems I had in place at the time... the ballast system consisting of a pair of 3' O/D PVC pipes, 14' long, with a sealed piston, driven by an all-thread rod, powered by a geared-down motor, x2! Basically a pair of syringes, which required mounting at radical angles within the large dry section of the hull, allowing for this complex affair to both, double in length, when diving... I dragged this model out this morning, with renewed inspiration, following keeping up with your episodes! I'm sure you're familiar with the origins of this hull, it was a fibreglass lay-up from Germany, from a company/fella named Engel, back in the late 80's or early 90's. I reckon the entirety of her internals are k-put, (aside from the iron ballast casting) and I'd imagined a "WTC" might be created for this scale? Should you or anyone else who's experienced a similar challenge, care to advise me, please know that I very much welcome ideas and input! Thank you,
    Capt./Shipwright, J. Loyal Tarbet
    (sorry, I think I may be writing from my daughters account/handle).

      Sir, the Engel Gato is 1/50 scale, not 1/32 scale. A WTC would be very easily done. I offer my 300 Series SubDriver, and that would be a good fit for it. You'd want something with the dual output shafts and 3.75" diameter ballast tank with, perhaps, a 12" ballast tank length. All info and pricing is on my website at www.nautilusdrydocks.com

    Большая, серьёзная, очень тонкая и кропотливая работа.

    I'm jealous. Great job. APSS-313, USS Perch, is a sister ship of the 316. This was my first submarine duty and the one that I qualified on to receive my "Dolphins." We had a snorkel, and could run our engines while submerged. Best wishes. DBF

    Using an Arduino could implement automation and free up channels. Will be fun to see the progress!

    I have been quietly lurking in the background for quite some time but this monster is something I can really wrap my brain around. Do you have anymore build history on this model?

    Are you going with 2.4? If so you can get many more channels pretty cheap. I have a 8 channel 75mHz that would assist, or run two transmitters.

    Hey man just ordered the 1/48 ark model German type 7 just need some tips for batteries to get and how to link the remote

    • @RCSubGuy
      @RCSubGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      3300 mAh LiPo. Link the remote? Man.. I HOPE you didn't spring for the POS Arkmodel cylinder. I've yet to see ANYONE get it to work, let alone work reliably... Hit me up via email if you have more questions on that.

    Hey Bob if you had this boat without any Drive System installed and you were to start from scratch what size Drive module would you think it would take? Curious minds wanna know.....

      I don't know of any commercially available dive system that would power this beast. If you're hoping for a drop in unit, you're out of luck. This one will feature self-contained watertight boxes. Really the only way to go for bigger boats like this.

    • @steveneisen6705
      @steveneisen6705 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RCSubGuy Will watch you refit this beast.. and see where you take the dive system.. the water proof boxes.. dry compartments are very interesting indeed.. bring on Episode 2!

    Who is the monster from?

    • @RCSubGuy
      @RCSubGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's based on an old 32nd Parallel Hull. They are and have been out of business for decades now, unfortunately.

    It’s a short “A” in Gato, meaning cat. Not a long A.

    Cool boat, but why not restore it as original? It is an historic item and nice to see an evolution of the hobby.

    • @RCSubGuy

      Because the primary mission I've been tasked with is to upgrade the boat to make it perform reliably and well. Sure... some people might want the old tech in there in order to show it off to people, but when it comes time to operate it, you know they'll want performance and reliability.

    Looks like the guy who built this was a wee bit ahead if his time. This looks like it was complicated for way back in the 80's.
