2008 Charvel So-Cal. Stripped, Pimped & One New Nut, Please!

- Take a 2008/2009 US Charvel Pro Mod So-Cal, strip it, pop in a Seymour Duncan 78 and a couple of Fender Yosemite pickups along with a Floyd Original bridge (which is an upgrade) and let it rock. And rock it does! This is how this guitar came to me in a recent trade. But it needed a new nut. Here's the story.

Thanks Brett for this sharing. I was just mucking around with the idea of replacing my existing PU on my Charvel with the 78 SD and now I know what might come out from there. Also your indications about the FR and the nut sounds interesting as well as for the strings that I never tried yet. I loved the sound you produced here hence my interest in your advice ...really appreciated 🙂
Dig all your clips man, but I love the Charvel ones. I've never owned a USA Charvel, but I used to have a soft spot for the Wild Card series a few years back. Unfortunately sold a badass Wild Card #6 a few years back. Live and learn I guess...

One of my favorite guitars I ever owned was a 1 of 40 in the world Koa Charvel. Had to sell it due to financial reasons a few years back. But it was absolutely a shedder!

That guitar is amazing, thanks for sharing Brett! And thanks for the info on the German vs. Korean Floyd Rose. I did not know there was an easy way to tell w/o looking for the Made in Germany stamp on the underneath side! Won't t be forgetting that one soon to be sure. Most of my Charvels have the Korean Floyd. I just upgraded my MIM Charvel Silver Sparkle to a German Floyd and it's great, but the German nut did not fit properly. It's way too tall. Seems like the Korean R3 nut and the German R3 nut are not interchangeable. Do you have any insight on that? Cheers--!
