But I want to actually ask something. If it is cut partial, wouldnt it still have a partial effect? And even if is 1/5th wouldn't it still show the werewolf? Also love the riddles.

Based on the ending, where the carpenter tells you about the curse, it means he was aware he was a werewolf. Yet he still went to dinner with the rest of the guests, meaning he must have WANTED to kill you all

The bonus riddle is easy. We know that there is at least 1 werewolf, and when asked, all of the people said that there is at least 1 human, including that one werewolf. If that one werewolf lied about there being at least one human, that would mean that there are no humans at all. Meaning that all of the people there are werewolves with green eyes that responded Ozo.
I see what you did there, you mixed this one with the green eyed prisoners riddle and the alien overlords riddle.

Easy peasy.
Step 1: Give the antidote to the carpenter because he looks like a werewolf.
Step 2: Cook the goat and serve him to your guests. The antidote in the goat will cure the others if they were werewolves. Ensure that you make and serve a goat stock so that you don't lose any antidotey goodness.
Step 3: Figure out why you have a laser cutter in an era where people dress like that.

Man, imagine the detective's face when he goes to that village, spends the entire day questioning every inhabitant only to realize that every single one of them is a werewolf ready to kill him.
But the fact that they all let themselves be questioned and didn't kill him argues that they're non-violent, which then begs the question why we have any right to turn 'our' werewolf back in the first place! If he's causing trouble, get him to move into the werewolf village where he'll fit in better, problem solved. Unless, of course, he asks to be turned back. Which, since he's a werewolf and always lies, means he'll be saying "NO, I don't want to be cured!"

2 the village of werewolves is not peaceful and are indeed violent on full moons; or else how did the carpenter get infected in the first place? It isn't like the flu. You have to attack someone or everyone wluld be werewolves.

Andrew Brasfield if 50g dissolves into a soup and you split it evenly to fifths, then each bowl is guaranteed to have 10g exactly. Since it dissolved completely.
Andrew Brasfield but theoretically if it dissolved evenly, each particle spread out perfectly even, then it would work. But I guess it might not spread out even, there could be a few particles off. Oops, my bad. 😆
For the bonus riddle, they’re all werewolves. Since they all gave the same answer they must all be lying or all be telling the truth. Since we know that at least one of is a werewolf, they then must all be lying to have the same story and thus all be werewolves.
I agree, or any number between 1 and 99 humans have trick the rest of the village into believing that they are werewolves, since as fair as the werewolf (or werewolves) know, every 'human' is a werewolf, so when they say "there is at least one human" the werewolf believes it to be a lie

I actually had to make those shapes when sewing a quilt. I had calculated the area of fabric needed for the back, but it wasn’t wide enough to cover it, or long enough to cut into two rectangles and sew them together. The only symmetrical solution was four right triangles and a square!

For the bonus riddle: It looks like it wouldn’t actually matter what all the villagers agreed on. If they all said “There used to be a statue here,” that would still mean they’re all werewolves -as long as there’s at least one werewolf and all the villagers are telling the same story.
Unless they say "We are all werewolves", then that would mean all of them are human.

the end clearly says "you know there is at least one werewolf in the village"
and "all werewolves tell lies" and "at least one is human" from all you can piece it together

There are two possible answers to the bonus riddle: either everyone in the village is a werewolf or everyone in that village is human (because werewolves always lie, meaning that the carpenter sent you on a wild wolf chase)

I love the situations they come up with for these puzzles. "You only have one dose of werewolf cure left because your pet goat ate the rest."

The bonus riddle is easy. If werewolves always lie and humans always tell the truth, and you know that the village has at least one werewolf (and thus at least one liar), the only way they all can say "at least one of us is human" is if they are _all_ lying, and are _all_ werewolves.

As a matter of fact, if it's possible to divide it in perfect size and we can assume that you have a balance at your disposal ( not against the rules, as you can have paper and scissors) you should always cut in the most pieces, ( every bigger form can be rebuilt with the smaller pieces). And after it you test with the pieces the right amount of weight. That as long as you don't have a limit of cuttings

For the bonus riddle, if all the villagers are saying the same statement, then they are either all lying or all telling the truth. There is at least one werewolf, and werewolves lie, so at least one villager must be lying, but if one villager is lying, then all the villagers must be lying, thus all the villagers are werewolves.

what if a detective is a vegan
I literally just did every cut calculated the areas of 5 different triangles, as it was guaranteed to give us enough shapes to get 4/5 each. Not as quick, but seemed most intuitive.

Me, an intellectual: *invites someone allergic to dogs to the dinner and see which one makes them sneeze*
There’s a good chance that before and after transformation the body is indistinguishable from a human’s, especially since the antidote didn’t kick in until the carpenter had already started transforming, so the allergy might not be triggered until it’s too late.

For the bonus riddle: it is a simple all or nothing because if one person was human, the werewolves would lie and only one person would say this phrase, where as if they all were human, they all would have lied effectively cancelling out the tailors claim, so the entire village is that of werewolves
Plot twist: You drop 0.00001 gram of antidote on your way to the carpenter's bowl
You can just straightforwardly ask them who's the werewolf and tell them you've got the antidote. Who wouldn't want a cure, am I right?

I like how at the end of the first riddle everyone is mad at you except for the mayor who still appears to be smiling.
That’s because the mayor is already bald
The bonus riddle reminds me of the one from Samurai Jack, when Jack was faced with two worms, they gave him a riddle. One had the power to send him back in time while the other did not, that one would lie while the other told the truth, and that Jack could only ask them one question. Jack outsmarted them by asking them to answer what their brother would say when prompted "Which can send me back in time".
The same applies to the bonus question, if a human was asked what a werewolf would say if asked "What are you?", the human would respond, "I am a human" as the werewolf would lie and not reveal they are a werewolf. Meanwhile, if a werewolf were asked that question, they know that a human would respond "I am a human", therefor they would have to lie and respond, "I am a werewolf".

If the werewolf says "at least one of us is a human", he would be telling the truth unless there was no humans in the village.Since a werewolf cannot tell the truth, there must be no humans in the village and everyone is a werewolf.
Another strategy: become a werewolf yourself and use your enhanced smell to find the other one with 100% accuracy, then you only need antidote for him/her and yourself, so you can cut the square in 2 pieces

I just realized why The Carpenter looks an awful lot like Van Gogh. Before Van Gogh became a household name, he often drew pictures of carpenters and even one of their workshops. Very clever Ted-Ed.
I'm a musician. My mind went onto chord theory, as soon as the riddle talked about perfect fifths. That's about all I understood of the solution.

If we are only are allowed to use the machine once, then simply insert all possible cuts into the machine! Afterwards you can still arrange the pieces as you want, as you for sure know that you cannot make anything wrong if you make all cuts that are possible! ^^

Yeah, I did the same thing. It would have been better if we were only allowed to make 4 cuts, which is just enough to get the intended solution.

Lets say the whole square has a value of 5, and we are trying to get 5 1ones.
My solotuin was: cut the square in half, so we have 1 peice valuing 2.5. Then cut that in half to get two pieces valuing 1.25. Then cut the .25 off of each of them, giving us 2 .25 pieces, and set them aside. Then do the same for the other side, and clump the extra .25 pieces to make the fith one. Boom! Problem solved. I assumed the cutting points would be redistrubited to each piece after a given cut.
