Starring the voices of the late Dermot Morgan (Father Ted), Miriam Margolyes and Sorcha Cusack.
In memory of Dermot Morgan.
This was my favorite as a child I can't believe its only 27 minutes! it's such a beautiful piece of art yet the story is nothing over complicated I remember the music it touched me deeply when I was little

the music does something deep to me. i really feel mother natures sadness.
Voley was an incredibly cool dude, he found some lost kid, stopped to help, did everything he could to lift his spirit and ensure his survival even pushing his own hibernation to the limit. Be like Voley, as he sure was my role model when I was a kid.
76 and watching this with a big smile during the whole film. Loved it, especially the Irish accent :o)

Me and my brother watched this movie whenever we were ill when we were younger. We always felt better after watching it. And we watch it every Christmas

Was this anyone else’s childhood on VHS I swear there was an American dub for this movie I still call it my fall movie and love it dearly. I even remember Artemis fowl the books, series being advertised on it.

i remember i used to wake at 5 am to watch this and i would take all the blankets i was sleeping with in bed to cover myself while watching this in the dining room.
Oh my gosh, what a gem! I actually teared up at the end. I'm glad I stumbled across this; it makes me nostalgic for old animation.
there's something special and magical about the regular old animation than the all-real looking 3D animation that we have now. It always takes me back to a world of imagination, somewhere I wish I could go but never exists in real world.

@@kanal2123a But sometimes what we want most to do for children is keep them alive. There is always that. Good luck with it when or if your time comes. Good luck to your children and grandchildren in your efforts to protect them as Nature most certainly intends. Being "adventuresome"? That has nothing to do with being good/bad or smart/not so bright. Get friendlier with the act of READING! Do it for YOU and for your eventual KIDS. Though one year ago you were correcting 70-year-olds, I am certain there is hope for you ;o) Remember too that time is FLYING.

I recorded this off the tv when it was new (I was 11 or 12). Watched it often... always felt it was a dreary animation because of the grey skies... but i kinda liked it still. Haven't thought about it in yeeeeaaars, now it randomly pops up.

I remember watching the commercial for this years back and finally found it. First time watching it and I found it to be pretty good, it reminds me of other good animations like Stellaluna and the forgotten toys.

Brilliant film, very underrated worldwide
oh my god.. I completely forgot about this. I looked up a line I remembered from the movie that randomly popped into my head and I found this! I loved this so much when I was younger.
I love this film. I used to show the video to my kindergarten students on the last day of school before the Christmas vacation with popcorn treats for them. I loved how they would get into it, the giggles at the dance scene and the quivering lips when Sean's wing was broken and the cheers when they animals defeated the fox! I would burst my sides laughing at the dancing sheep (until tears came to my eyes). It was so nice to see this again after so many years. (I am retired for 10 years now and have not seen it since then), although I did notice it was on tv last Christmas but I missed it, only caught the tail end. It was aired this week on tv as well and I recorded it to show my grand niece and nephew when they come to visit after Christmas. I hope they enjoy it as much as my students used to. Thanks for posting. .. a great memory.

This is one of my favorite animated films. I remember seeing it on Disney channel back in the late 90s. I was happy to find it on Netflix, course the version I grew up with had replaced the original cast with Tim Curry and a few others. I have Irish in my family. The animation in this film makes me think of The Trumpet of the Swan and the Disney version of The Ugly Duckling. Nothing beats traditional animation. Thanks for posting.

I remember watching this when it first came out (I was 5 years old) and then every Christmas, me and my brother and sisters would watch this and The Snowman, because we had both on a VHS tape that we recorded from the TV. Ahhh memories!

Been trying to remember the name of this movie for a week. Was bugging the hell out of me. Once I found this, got really emotional. Such fond childhood memories this brings.
Omg I Too watched this. First saw it at Grandma's house on live telly. I turned to my mum and said "I wanna watch this!" and she said that she was already taping it! Yay. I watched it many times at home after that. love it!! OMG I can't believe I found it by chance under the related videos about 90s cartoons and kid's shows! There was another I used to watch but sadly not been able to find that. I rented it from blockbusters every week. I rented it so much that they let my mum buy it. sadly before she could buy it, they threw it away because it'd been worn out. It was called The Hillbilly goats with a character named Grandbilly goat and his granddaughter and son Angora and Billy. the dad was called Ben and his wife was called Gerty. One of the episodes was about an avalanche and another was about an ice princess who was melting because the sun was napping too close to her ice castle. Does anybody remember this kids show??? PS the characters were anthro goats.
I think I actually owned this movie as a kid. Only in my copy, Shaun and his mom's voices were slightly different.
I had one on Serbian so hearing him with Oirish accent was so weird and funny :)
I still have the baby book to this with movie scenes and I watched this when I was little. Used to be one of my favourite movies so I've come back to watch it and see how I think about it now... but 30 mins?! It felt like a full movie when I was a tot D:
I watched this pretty much every day when I was 6. Parents had brought us all to live in some rural town on the Savanah, and we only had 3 VHS tapes and 5 hrs of electricity per day. This film used to remind me of home in England and it made me cry. I had absolutely NO MEMORY of everyone being Irish, but then again, I probably didn't know that Ireland existed...
