Great review as always, Marc. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one. About the awkward atomiser, the owner of a local niche perfume store once told me years ago that Profumum Roma fragrances have such high "oil" content (= non-ethanol chemicals) that the company is afraid of spillage through leaky, corroded atomiser seals. Apparently they therefore provide a separate safe cap for shipping and storage, plus an atomiser you can take off for rinsing if it ever clogs up with residual oil - and which you could even replace completely if the seal happened to crumble away. Not sure if that explanation is correct and where the information originally came from, but I suspect it might have been from the company itself. The screw-off function also makes it more convenient to refill the little roll-on travel vial that used to be hidden in the back of the foam insert of the box. Not sure if the roller and the little funnel are still included these days... I myself always decant 10 ml of juice into a travel atomiser hand-sealed with teflon film, screw the transport cap back on, and store the big bottle standing upright in its box. Come to think of it, I have actually never used one of the original atomisers. Hm.
Hey Guru, would you consider making a video on whether or not fragrances across the board (designer/niche/indie) are getting worse/weaker. Just your advice for those of us who haven't built a collection over the last 20+ years. Should we seek out those vintage formulations in cases where we can't sample or trying to find which brands still produce quality, etc.
Hmm, I was kinda on the fence until you said Commes des Garcons and DS & Durga woods. I like the way they do their woods a lot. I am a bit sad it's not more incense-focused, but I'll definitely have to find a decant.
Great video as always! I have only experienced a few fragrances from Profumum Roma, but I agree with your take. Fairly simplistic in their breakdown, but great quality and performance. I think you’d appreciate (assuming you haven’t already) Ambra Aurea from the house! A dense, chewy, resinous amber!
P.S. A great incense-based fragrance that I haven’t seen much talk about is Freakincense by Coreterno. If you get the chance, I’d love to hear your take on it! Definitely have to appreciate frankincense to appreciate this one though.
Their patchouli fragrance is pretty revered. I've not smelled it. Have you smelled 7 Anonimo by Loewe yet? Tremendous smoky dark incense with leather and labdanum. It's the dark masculine incense I've been looking for for years.
That's my point exactly why paying more for something that is redundant and it's not extraordinary? You as a collector, I get it, but to me it's a big NO! And I saw them at 180 more or less, still no. Thanks for the Unboxing Marc!!!
Love the brand but the atomizers aren’t great, the 18ml bottles are worse- stiff then a giant coarse spray which blast through the ml’s in a hurry! (by design?)

Excited for this one, incense is my favorite note and I can't get enough.
Profvmvm Roma is such a superb house. Olibanvm is one of their best releases.

and they retail for 370-425 dollars in Canada.
I want this but quite expensive . Around 170 dollar
