I liked this live performance and with the children clapping hands; it was Ollie E. Brown the drummer behind Stevie Wonder (who also played with Billy Preston).
I saw this air on tv on the kids show Sesame Street I think about 1973 when I was ten. This performance stopped me in my tracks, and I remember writing in my diary that there was an "acid rock" band on Sesame Street.. Well, that began my journey into rock music and I immediately ordered a bunch of 8 -track tapes from Columbia House, if anyone remembers that! And yeah, I know Stevie wouldn't quite be called an acid rock musician, but they were jammin' on this one . Thanks Fay!
What a fabulous video. One of the great artists of the 20th century. Will be listened to and studied for generations to come. Sui Generis. An original. Also, a good man.
"When you believe in things \ That you don't understand \ Then you suffer \ Superstition ain't the way, yeah" Sesame Street is a children's television show that launched in 1969. I watched it when I was a kid and may very well have watched that episode when it first aired in April of 1973. Those kids were around the same age that I was back then. I'm not a superstitious person at all and in large part I may have Stevie Wonder to thank for that.
He was playing on Sesame Street. Episode 0514 April 12, 1973 according to the Muppet Wiki. He didn't just show up and play one song either but interacted with the Muppets across several scenes in the show. "Stevie Wonder hangs out with Grover and teaches him how to sing like him."
Love me some Stevie Wonder! Now if you wanna party try some "Dusic" by Brick (The live version) or some "Backstrokin" by Fatback.....Party!!!!!!!!
I Prefer Dazz by Brick.

Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed it
The studio version Africa is so much better. One of the greatest songs ever.
Love this song 💖😍💖 the 1970s
Stevie released three of the all time great albums in a row in the 70's! Not sure what happened after, but still that's a pretty good legacy.

"Step on a crack, break your mother's back" was a popular superstition once upon a time.
I'm not superstitious. It's bad luck.
🙂
Is it just me or does it seem like Stevie is playing on Sesame Street?
