Everybody do their things differently.I like that and will definitely try it. I have an idea of the proportions taken from other recipes. Thanks for sharing.❤❤❤
The trick of cleaning your hands with flour is great, I did not know that. Looks like incredible bread again! Is an uncovered Dutch oven still a Dutch oven though? The whole idea of it is the thing being closed so steam gets trapped for a bit and does some magic on the crust. When leaving it uncovered its more like an ordinary pan.
Im an Irish O.A.P & never have seen raisins put in soda bread. When raisins are added its known as scones or else a railway cake., if cooked as a cake...as theres a raisin at every station.
whats the point of adding cold butter to the flour and then add hot raisins to the flour mixture??? ( you should have let the raisins cool completely before adding them to the flour mixture) Just saying???
I was taught many years ago, that you add a cup of raisins(white, it doesn’t matter) to one cup of boiling water, and let it sit while making the rest. Drain them (not squeezing or squishing them) then add to what you are making. And yes, this is Irish Soda Bread, nearly the same as my gran’s. She also used her Kerrygold frozen butter sent to her by her sisters. The unsweeten Soda Bread was always used WITH the dinner. And yes, you ned to cut a cross in the top to let the wee fairies out. :-)
Bridgete she must add fruit ti dry flour to spread them around.i like your comment and otgers that know what the are talking about. My mom was the best cook ive ever known.
Time to make fantastic soda bread for today's evening!

I don't love raisin in everything either but they work great in this type of bread
Looks yummy. It would be nice if you put the measurements in the description with the ingredients
Thanks for the feedback and I’ll see if they can add that to it

100% agree! If you like the crunch crust leave the lid on
I would have to mix this in a bowl…
Most of the time I do as well…just wanted to show it’s possible without it!

Do you add currants or nothing at all?
Please put amounts in your recipe description
Thanks for the feedback
I must try that, so tired of store bought bread that tastes like cardboard.
It's so good!

I prefer no sugar no butter no egg comes just as moist without
I’ll have to try it that way
Easier if you do it in a large plastic ziplock bag.
You also put a cross on the top to let the faeries out 😂

You're making a scones
Soda bread is very similar to scones.
Thats not irish soda bread. Dont wipe the wet dough off your hands you are adding dead cells to the mixture. Yuk😊😊
what a mess
Happy messes!
