The first was 'God Save our King', which the British sing too. Thehe actual anthem of Norway started after that, and it's called 'Ja Vi Elsker Dette Landett', by Bjornstjerne Bjørnson. In this version, they just sang the first verse and last verse.
Hurra! Hurra! Hurra!
You can see our King crying hes a strong and true Norwegian along with my other Norwegian brothers, unity and faith keeps the Norwegian people together Long live our great royal family and country.
A few months ago i was first time arrived in Norway.Amazing cind and helpfull nation. Most interesting is good attention to everyone. When airplain was in air, with sad sorrow i say:Goodbye beloved Norway.Such a strong and special norwegian people are.Tusen takk for good memories.
Norden verenat!
Thanks for sharing that with the world. Interesting that the royal anthem is the same tune as God Save the Queen/King and the national anthem of Liechtenstein. You learn something new every day!
Woha! I didn't think off it before now, that the royal anthem the melody is 100% similar to the British National anthem:-) I'm so happy that I was given the opportunity to live in this beautiful country. Jeg elsker Norge-3 God bless Norway, and merry christmas everyone :-)
Wonderful video! This castle was built by Karl XIV Johan and you can also see his statue here and the "gate" that were his name. Merry christmas Norway! Ulf sawert. Sweden
@Montyleeny14 in fact i thing that Heil dir im Siegerkranz was used as the national anthem of Prussia but never of Germany, and, it was used too as the anthem of Hannover when was part of UK prior to the existing of germany as "Heil, dir Hannover, dir. :P
@saintmirrenmalky In iceland this song with different lyrics is also a tribute to the Icelandic nation so you seem to have it in UK, NORWAY, ICELAND, LICHTENSTEIN. IN ICELAND IT IS CALLED ELDGAMLA ÍSAFOLD WICH MEANS OLD ICELAND.
@HashSmokerDude420 why do you ask me if I'm stupid? I do know it's not the army, 'cause I fuckin live in Norway. However, even though they are the royal guards, they have military training (well most of them). It's not like their main task is to do parades, though that's what they're usually used for since there ain't no war here
The French author of Souvenirs further states that the tune was later plagiarized by Handel and sold to the British crown as their anthem. If it is true, as some have claimed, that the story about the sale of the anthem is actually from a much later tabloid, then this anachronism is a reason why the author of Souvenirs is sometimes placed in the company of forgers
Hi, HerrNordman... can you please to re-write it in Norsk? it's very hard to find it on internet, even in wikipedia. Tusen takk. Greetings from Jakarta, Indonesia. Alt for Norge!
The first tune, actually isn't the national anthem, nor is it any part of it, the actual anthem starts at 1:32 although its not the full version, they just repeat the first verse two times, there are actually 8 verses :)
wow, that's sad and an archaic way in which to look at it...If they keep this up the kid's going to have an inferiority complex! How much would it have hurt to include him on the balcony with everyone else? How could a mother stomach such treatment of her first born son? Truly sad!
I am very proud to be Norwegian. :)
You're a great people...

@saintmirrenmalky Actually the royal anthem is used to honor a lot of monarchs around the world, not just in Norway :)
The King doesn't seems to be amused....
The 2nd melody was the National Anthem, not the third. Beautiful video though !
Yes both anthems are the same, translated they are pretty much similar too. Then again, we (United Kingdom) did used to have a Norwegian king!
what was he saying?
God save the queen is the royal anthem in Norway and ja vi elsker is the national anthem
Really cool! I wish we did something like this is the USA.
you dont hear much of the norse monarchy in the news, well in most of europe at least, but they seem like great royalty.
The Principality of Liechtenstein has the same tune as us (England) too!
Kieran Byfield Fun fact: France was the one that made "God Save The Queen" and the first one to use it
@@Emeralds11 a fun fact which is completely false lol

Jeg elske lande mitt
do you know how small our army is?
"Dieu sauve le Roi", the french royal and national anthem, 1687-1792, Mme de Brinon/Lully

Hør, hør!
It's just a common Anglo melody. Such as how it also sounds similar to my country tis of thee.
Oh yea, Marius. He is not a part of the Royla family though, so i guess that's why he's not there.
gud signe vårt dyre fedreland. eller fedrelandssalmen
Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra is older than Prince Sverre Magnus.
@knight7fox2 he got jesters for that ;)

Nytorsk no its the royal anthem)
No, they sang the first verse and the last one (because the second verse they sing goes 'også vi når det blir krevet som dets fred slår leir')
JA I ELSKER NORWAY!!!! ~USA~
wow, that's sad and an archaic way in which to look at it...If they keep this up the kid's going to have an inferiority complex! How much would it have hurt to include him on the balcony with everyone else? How could a mother stomach such treatment of her first born son? Truly sad!
Alt for Norge!
Didn't she have a son before marriage? That's the one I'm enquiring about, the one she had out of wedlock.
wtf has our army got to do with May 17th??
It's not the army. It's the king's guard.
@knight7fox2 Hahahah!
not England UK!!! England has not anthem
but it hears like the british anthem ..xoxO
Where's her older son...or is he like the black sheep?
Smukke Norge
Norwegian is a weird language
Why did the first song sound like 'God save the Queen', the British National Anthem?
TheFaabfabulous because the royal anthem of norway has the same melody of god save the queen with different words.
And coming into our national anthems and throwing shit about our country is in your eyes friendly?
Alt for Norge!
Dearest greetings from Slovakia.Long live Norway!Nice anthem!!
