Home now from GenCon and just saw this. Thanks to all who came over to the Sorcery booth to see me, and thanks for all these wonderful comments! It is great to know that what I was trying to represent in the art came through. My fans are the best!
A great behind the scene insight into a legendary artist's process. You may not know your particular style Melissa, but we all do 😊 Here's to collecting many more cards with your artwork on in Sorcery into the future. 😎
Love the story telling behind the artists. This is what I do for my day job and you really knocked it out of the park. I'd recommend bringing this storytelling to the entire curiosa team.
I went onto scryfall to look up her art and seeing Silver Erne unlocked a core memory of when I first started playing and I bought a box of old cards from a friend at school back in 2003. The old cards were just so "magic" to me. Part of the reason why sorcery drew me to it was the hand drawn art. ❤
We're so lucky to have such a legend of fantasy art working on this game. Thank you for sharing your insights and letting us behind the curtain on some of your incredible works. Bravo Melissa!
Melissa you are a national treasure ! Thank you for all your beautiful works of arts over the many years of TCGs! Can’t wait to everything you bring to sorcery in the future!
Melissa is at Gen Con! Find out how you can get a limited edition Gen Con print of King Arthur here: sorcerytcg.com/news/meet-sorcery-artist-melissa-a-benson-at-gen-con-2024
I love her take on King Arthur, I feel like it is essential that she chose to portray him in his prime. He radiates power and authority! The part she mentioned about what to leave in, take out or include, due to the scale of the card, I think that is precisely her style. Her cards are strong, often vibrant and with zero clutter, only the important stuff remains in the art.
I am so profoundly glad King Arthur will be represented through Melissa's art. She has done some of the most iconic images since I was young and is the prefect person to represent Arthur in this game. Plus, she knows that King Arthur is Welsh, a fact which is sadly not widely known. For the historical note: Arthur II, King of Glamorgan and Gwent, is the Round Table King for which the legend was largely based upon.

Reducing glass is brilliant! Bless Benson for taking such care. It shows in the final product.
Melissa!! ♥️♥️♥️
"You can't clutter it with a lot of stuff..." is probably one of the reason why her art is great, details without being overwhelming
I love this so much. An icon and legend.
I'm really curious about that sword. =P
