Wow thanks for this. I remember vividly watching this match...this was at a time when women's tennis was unmissable and was so exciting!

Two of the best to ever play the game. Thank you for sharing.

I remember watching this one live. It was so sad to see Monica lose I think she would have won it all if she could have got through this one. She had a great tournament.

Monica's style was really impressive on rebound ace surface. The perfect perfect surface for her groundstrokes.

This was a great last run for Seles in a Slam. I do think she would have beaten Capriati had she got to the final.

Not in the heat! JC’s fitness would have seen her win in 3 sets.

@DanielPereira-ii3mr possibly. Monica would have had to won it in two.

the heat would have been a big factor . also bearing in mind capriati did beat monica in Miami (monica had match point) that was a fab match from monica in miami. never seen her play so well and still lose

@@DanielPereira-ii3mr I agree, that day the temperature was way too high. jennifer would have won after losing the first set, just what she did to Hingis

Wow, Monica's sense of geometry was spectacular.

Monica was just brilliant here! Such a pity she didn't win!

A truly hard-fought match for both players! Martina's good anticipation and tactical placement of shots had an edge over Monica's hard hit shots!

Heartbreaking loss. Monica completely went on a walkabout for half the match after winning that first set.

Seles fitness was her achilles against Hingis (and the other top players post-stabbing). The longer the match went on the more the unforced errors crept up. If only she had gotten on top of it. Still, an awesome ball-striker to behold.

    Shame Monica lost this one

Martina's temper... 🤣 It feels like it hindered her often, perhaps she would have been an even better singles player if she'd been more mentally tough. In doubles, it wasn't much of a factor.

I "hated" Hingis here in this match so much...I'm thinking that Monica should win this tournament...Bad luck !!!!

The editing on this video was over done. The current scoring shown occasionally was edited out. So it was difficult to tell who was winning at certain points. Then at the end the congratulations hand shake and walk to the bench and facial reactions of the players after the game was edited out. Sometimes I wonder if the people who edit out important videos are in a hurry to go take a SH*T because it is very embarrassing how they mess up videos.

Monica just couldn't be bothered to get in shape in her late career - a shame. Her footspeed was always her weakness and being fat didn't help that at all. If she had gotten extremely fit, she still would have been a top contender at every slam.

She had an eating disorder and it developed after the '93 attack. She recovered from it after the retired from tennis.
