I grew up doing what this boy is doing, am originally from southern Africa. In my household I was taught how to source food, cook, fetch water, gardening. Looking at him doing all the chores by himself, amazes me, reminds me of my childhood. The only thing I would wish for this young boy is to get an education so he can add academic knowledge , skills inorder to prepare, empower himself for the future, new world!
This child can survive when so many now days in the US wouldn't know what to do. Such a strong young man. May the Lord be with him all throughout his life!

Apart from not going to school and learning to send for himself is very good. He is learning how to be independent and this will help him when he grows. All kids should be encouraged to be independent.

I far as I see, this is a beautiful village life with everything free of charge - free food, free water, free land, etc. I don't think 'poor' is a right word to use. This is exactly how I was raised in Jamaica including the picking of Jackfruits and roasting corn on a wood fire. Perfectly normal. I never felt poor. The only difference is that we went to school.

That’s how my father grew up. Looking after his siblings while his mother was down with polio. He worked the farm, cooked, fetched water and ran to school. When he got him his siblings would be waiting for him to bring the goats in from the feeding ground up in the hills. It was tough. But guess what ,he was the most successful of all his siblings. He studied, traveled wide and became minister in government . There are lessons to learn.
He could roast it in the sheaves whe it steam the grains before actual roasting takes place. He should be going to school. He will make it. He is hardworking.

There were plenty of Jack Fruits in the tree he was climbing and he could have picked anyone of them unless they were not ripe yet. I love how resilient he is what an amazing kid who takes care of himself. I pray that God will continually bless and keep this little boy safe.
I had many Jackfruit trees growing up. A cursory glance told me none were ripe. I think he climbed all the way up to see if there was a hidden one up top which is sometimes the case.

Down here in America .....at the age of 15...still needs a baby sitter....what a shame !!!....when we were a still child...me and my friends....at the age of 10....we talk to our neighbors...cleaning their yards....washing the drive ways....water the plants and the lawn...cutting grass...on summer time after school and during vacation....shovel snow on winter time...salt the driveway....we don't need baby sitters....God bless this beautiful African kid.
I am getting so tired of hearing what God can do, when there are resources here on earth that could be devoted to making sure 8 year olds with not have to climb tree and forge for food. This is exactly how I was raised in Jamaica including the picking of Jackfruits and roasting corn on a wood fire. Perfectly normal. I never felt poor. The only difference is that we went to school.

That’s how my father grew up. Looking after his siblings while his mother was down with polio. He worked the farm, cooked, fetched water and ran to school. When he got him his siblings would be waiting for him to bring the goats in from the feeding ground up in the hills. It was tough. But guess what ,he was the most successful of all his siblings. He studied, traveled wide and became minister in government . There are lessons to learn.

I had many Jackfruit trees growing up. A cursory glance told me none were ripe. I think he climbed all the way up to see if there was a hidden one up top which is sometimes the case.

Down here in America .....at the age of 15...still needs a baby sitter....what a shame !!!....when we were a still child...me and my friends....at the age of 10....we talk to our neighbors...cleaning their yards....washing the drive ways....water the plants and the lawn...cutting grass...on summer time after school and during vacation....shovel snow on winter time...salt the driveway....we don't need baby sitters....God bless this beautiful African kid.

I am getting so tired of hearing what God can do, when there are resources here on earth that could be devoted to making sure 8 year olds with not have to climb tree and forge for food. A lot of this religious crap is just an excuse for not taking responsiblity and demanding that resource ae available to help sustain and nuture the life of children I am appalled at some of the comment on here that do not see the injustice of this situation. I am sure government officials driving around in luxuay cars children are no in the situation where they do not know where their next meal is coming from.

Clothes wise....they choose themselves. Nice beds to sleep.

I can relate to this boy , yes he can do all chores but its hard ...my mom passed away when i was young i saw myself to school and the school was very far i will go in the morning and come back in the evening ,on the way i will fetch firewood to cook ,as soon as i arrive home i will rush to fetch water from the village borehole ,on weekends i will be working in the fields ...life was hard 😭.. responsibilities will make you grow up quickly
