I remember reading a negative review of this movie years ago where the reviewer stated “there’s one long scene where nothing happens just one of the characters ironing”. It was amazing that the author had watched the movie and yet somehow didn’t see it. A pivotal moment in the film, the rest of us realize. It explains why the big flashy CGI movies with spoon fed dialogue and facile plots not only exist but do really well.
@@NeonFilmosophy Maybe her watch was a gift or something that resembles her conservative family that does not quite approve her having connections with someone outside their race. You can see that she takes of the watch in the momente Amadeu notices it and then begin to touch her wrist, as if the watch has been there for long, simbolizing a rutpture in this racist paradigma. I may be wrong but this scene got me thinking this way. Great video and great analysis. Thank you
Yes & No. I hear the cries of the forgotten at the same I’m witnessing pepetrartors voices being uplifted by the masses more than actual victims. This is not sustainable for a healthy society.
I agree .. I've been watching through his movies and have found them each rewarding even when difficult to follow. But this one was far and away my least favorite so far. This essay helped a little, but still I just didn't follow it. Maybe my cultural ignorance of life in France is there reason.

You are a deeply underappreciated channel.
Appreciate it. Thank you!
I thought i understand the main argument of the film but this video was amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much. It means a lot to me that you (and others) say these nice things about this video.
Just amazing. As if I couldn't love Code Unknown any more, this video really helped me appreciate Haneke's work even more
Excellent video and analysis. Just subscribed
What a wonderful analysis, thank you for this!
Underrated
Gracias me ayudó a comprender mejor las emociones y lo que quiso expresarse con el filme.
Very interesting and concise analysis. Thanks
This was such a well put video, keep on going!
Haneke is brilliant all around, but this might be the film I think about the most. Great video
I'm still wondering about the watch scene.

@2:33 “artifical”
I'm generally a fan of Haneke's work but I didn't care for this one: a long way to go for next to nothing. I much preferred your analysis. Thanks.

one of the most self-indulgent and pointless films I've ever seen
